97 The Lord[a]reigns, let the earth rejoice; Let the many [b]islands be glad. 2 Clouds and thick darkness surround Him; Righteousness and justice are the foundation of His throne. 3 Fire goes before Him And burns up His adversaries round about. 4 His lightnings lit up the world; The earth saw and trembled. 5 The mountains melted like wax at the presence of the Lord, At the presence of the Lord of the whole earth. 6 The heavens declare His righteousness, And all the peoples have seen His glory.
7 Let all those be ashamed who serve graven images, Who boast themselves of idols; [c]Worship Him, all you [d]gods. 8 Zion [e]heard this and was glad, And the daughters of Judah have rejoiced Because of Your judgments, O Lord. 9 For You are the LordMost High over all the earth; You are exalted far above all [f]gods.
10 Hate evil, you who love the Lord, Who preserves the souls of His godly ones; He delivers them from the hand of the wicked. 11 Light is sown like seed for the righteous And gladness for the upright in heart. 12 Be glad in the Lord, you righteous ones, And give thanks [g]to His holy name.
12 Praise the Lord, O Jerusalem! Praise your God, O Zion! 13 For He has strengthened the bars of your gates; He has blessed your sons within you. 14 He makes [a]peace in your borders; He satisfies you with the [b]finest of the wheat. 15 He sends forth His command to the earth; His word runs very swiftly. 16 He gives snow like wool; He scatters the frost like ashes. 17 He casts forth His ice as fragments; Who can stand before His cold? 18 He sends forth His word and melts them; He causes His wind to blow and the waters to flow. 19 He declares His words to Jacob, His statutes and His ordinances to Israel. 20 He has not dealt thus with any nation; And as for His ordinances, they have not known them. [c]Praise [d]the Lord!
17 Cain [a]had relations with his wife and she conceived, and gave birth to Enoch; and he built a city, and called the name of the city Enoch, after the name of his son.18 Now to Enoch was born Irad, and Irad [b]became the father of Mehujael, and Mehujael [c]became the father of Methushael, and Methushael [d]became the father of Lamech.19 Lamech took to himself two wives: the name of the one was Adah, and the name of the other, Zillah.20 Adah gave birth to Jabal; he was the father of those who dwell in tents and have livestock.21 His brother’s name was Jubal; he was the father of all those who play the lyre and pipe.22 As for Zillah, she also gave birth to Tubal-cain, the forger of all implements of bronze and iron; and the sister of Tubal-cain was Naamah.
23 Lamech said to his wives,
“Adah and Zillah, Listen to my voice, You wives of Lamech, Give heed to my speech, For I [e]have killed a man for wounding me; And a boy for striking me; 24 If Cain is avenged sevenfold, Then Lamech seventy-sevenfold.”
25 Adam [f]had relations with his wife again; and she gave birth to a son, and named him [g]Seth, for, she said, “God [h]has appointed me another [i]offspring in place of Abel, for Cain killed him.”26 To Seth, to him also a son was born; and he called his name Enosh. Then men began to call [j]upon the name of the Lord.
3 Therefore, holy brethren, partakers of a heavenly calling, consider Jesus, the Apostle and High Priest of our confession;2 [a]He was faithful to Him who appointed Him, as Moses also was in all His house.3 For He has been counted worthy of more glory than Moses, by just so much as the builder of the house has more honor than the house.4 For every house is built by someone, but the builder of all things is God.5 Now Moses was faithful in all His house as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were to be spoken later;6 but Christ was faithful as a Son over His house—whose house we are, if we hold fast our confidence and the boast of our hope firm until the end.
7 Therefore, just as the Holy Spirit says,
“Today if you hear His voice, 8 Do not harden your hearts as[b]when they provoked Me, As in the day of trial in the wilderness, 9 Where your fathers triedMeby testingMe, And saw My works forforty years. 10 “Therefore I was angry with this generation, And said, ‘They always go astray in their heart, And they did not know My ways’; 11 As I swore in My wrath, ‘They shall not enter My rest.’”
43 The next day He purposed to go into Galilee, and He *found Philip. And Jesus *said to him, “Follow Me.”44 Now Philip was from Bethsaida, of the city of Andrew and Peter.45 Philip *found Nathanael and *said to him, “We have found Him of whom Moses in the Law and alsothe Prophets wrote—Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.”46 Nathanael said to him, “Can any good thing come out of Nazareth?” Philip *said to him, “Come and see.”47 Jesus saw Nathanael coming to Him, and *said of him, “Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom there is no deceit!”48 Nathanael *said to Him, “How do You know me?” Jesus answered and said to him, “Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you.”49 Nathanael answered Him, “Rabbi, You are the Son of God; You are the King of Israel.”50 Jesus answered and said to him, “Because I said to you that I saw you under the fig tree, do you believe? You will see greater things than these.”51 And He *said to him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, you will see the heavens opened and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man.”
