Safety of Abiding in the Presence of God

91 He (A)who dwells in the secret place of the Most High
Shall abide (B)under the shadow of the Almighty.
(C)I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress;
My God, in Him I will trust.”

Surely (D)He shall deliver you from the snare of the [a]fowler
And from the perilous pestilence.
(E)He shall cover you with His feathers,
And under His wings you shall take refuge;
His truth shall be your shield and [b]buckler.
(F)You shall not be afraid of the terror by night,
Nor of the arrow that flies by day,
Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness,
Nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday.

A thousand may fall at your side,
And ten thousand at your right hand;
But it shall not come near you.
Only (G)with your eyes shall you look,
And see the reward of the wicked.

Because you have made the Lord, who is (H)my refuge,
Even the Most High, (I)your dwelling place,
10 (J)No evil shall befall you,
Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling;
11 (K)For He shall give His angels charge over you,
To keep you in all your ways.
12 In their hands they shall [c]bear you up,
(L)Lest you [d]dash your foot against a stone.
13 You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra,
The young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot.

14 “Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him;
I will [e]set him on high, because he has (M)known My name.
15 He shall (N)call upon Me, and I will answer him;
I will be (O)with him in trouble;
I will deliver him and honor him.
16 With [f]long life I will satisfy him,
And show him My salvation.”

Praise to the Lord for His Love and Faithfulness

A Psalm. A Song for the Sabbath day.

92 It is (P)good to give thanks to the Lord,
And to sing praises to Your name, O Most High;
To (Q)declare Your lovingkindness in the morning,
And Your faithfulness every night,
(R)On an instrument of ten strings,
On the lute,
And on the harp,
With harmonious sound.
For You, Lord, have made me glad through Your work;
I will triumph in the works of Your hands.

(S)O Lord, how great are Your works!
(T)Your thoughts are very deep.
(U)A senseless man does not know,
Nor does a fool understand this.
When (V)the wicked [g]spring up like grass,
And when all the workers of iniquity flourish,
It is that they may be destroyed forever.

(W)But You, Lord, are on high forevermore.
For behold, Your enemies, O Lord,
For behold, Your enemies shall perish;
All the workers of iniquity shall (X)be scattered.

10 But (Y)my [h]horn You have exalted like a wild ox;
I have been (Z)anointed with fresh oil.
11 (AA)My eye also has seen my desire on my enemies;
My ears hear my desire on the wicked
Who rise up against me.

12 (AB)The righteous shall flourish like a palm tree,
He shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.
13 Those who are planted in the house of the Lord
Shall flourish in the courts of our God.
14 They shall still bear fruit in old age;
They shall be [i]fresh and [j]flourishing,
15 To declare that the Lord is upright;
(AC)He is my rock, and (AD)there is no unrighteousness in Him.

The Eternal Reign of the Lord

93 The (AE)Lord reigns, He is clothed with majesty;
The Lord is clothed,
(AF)He has girded Himself with strength.
Surely the world is established, so that it cannot be [k]moved.
(AG)Your throne is established from of old;
You are from everlasting.

The floods have [l]lifted up, O Lord,
The floods have lifted up their voice;
The floods lift up their waves.
(AH)The Lord on high is mightier
Than the noise of many waters,
Than the mighty waves of the sea.

Your testimonies are very sure;
Holiness adorns Your house,
O Lord, [m]forever.

God the Refuge of the Righteous

94 O Lord God, (AI)to whom vengeance belongs—
O God, to whom vengeance belongs, shine forth!
Rise up, O (AJ)Judge of the earth;
[n]Render punishment to the proud.
Lord, (AK)how long will the wicked,
How long will the wicked triumph?

They (AL)utter speech, and speak insolent things;
All the workers of iniquity boast in themselves.
They break in pieces Your people, O Lord,
And afflict Your heritage.
They slay the widow and the stranger,
And murder the fatherless.
(AM)Yet they say, “The Lord does not see,
Nor does the God of Jacob [o]understand.”

Understand, you senseless among the people;
And you fools, when will you be wise?
(AN)He who planted the ear, shall He not hear?
He who formed the eye, shall He not see?
10 He who [p]instructs the [q]nations, shall He not correct,
He who teaches man knowledge?
11 The Lord (AO)knows the thoughts of man,
That they are futile.

12 Blessed is the man whom You (AP)instruct, O Lord,
And teach out of Your law,
13 That You may give him [r]rest from the days of adversity,
Until the pit is dug for the wicked.
14 For the Lord will not [s]cast off His people,
Nor will He forsake His inheritance.
15 But judgment will return to righteousness,
And all the upright in heart will follow it.

16 Who will rise up for me against the evildoers?
Who will stand up for me against the workers of iniquity?
17 Unless the Lord had been my help,
My soul would soon have settled in silence.
18 If I say, “My foot slips,”
Your mercy, O Lord, will hold me up.
19 In the multitude of my anxieties within me,
Your comforts delight my soul.

20 Shall (AQ)the throne of iniquity, which devises evil by law,
Have fellowship with You?
21 They gather together against the life of the righteous,
And condemn (AR)innocent blood.
22 But the Lord has been my defense,
And my God the rock of my refuge.
23 He has brought on them their own iniquity,
And shall [t]cut them off in their own wickedness;
The Lord our God shall cut them off.

A Song of Praise to the Sovereign Lord

97 The Lord (A)reigns;
Let the earth rejoice;
Let the multitude of [a]isles be glad!

(B)Clouds and darkness surround Him;
(C)Righteousness and justice are the foundation of His throne.
(D)A fire goes before Him,
And burns up His enemies round about.
(E)His lightnings light the world;
The earth sees and trembles.
(F)The mountains melt like wax at the presence of the Lord,
At the presence of the Lord of the whole earth.
(G)The heavens declare His righteousness,
And all the peoples see His glory.

(H)Let all be put to shame who serve carved images,
Who boast of idols.
(I)Worship Him, all you gods.
Zion hears and is glad,
And the daughters of Judah rejoice
Because of Your judgments, O Lord.
For You, Lord, are (J)most high above all the earth;
(K)You are exalted far above all gods.

10 You who love the Lord, (L)hate evil!
(M)He preserves the souls of His saints;
(N)He delivers them out of the hand of the wicked.
11 (O)Light is sown for the righteous,
And gladness for the upright in heart.
12 (P)Rejoice in the Lord, you righteous,
(Q)And give thanks [b]at the remembrance of [c]His holy name.

A Song of Praise to the Lord for His Salvation and Judgment

A Psalm.

98 Oh, (R)sing to the Lord a new song!
For He has (S)done marvelous things;
His right hand and His holy arm have gained Him the victory.
(T)The Lord has made known His salvation;
(U)His righteousness He has revealed in the sight of the [d]nations.
He has remembered His mercy and His faithfulness to the house of Israel;
(V)All the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.

Shout joyfully to the Lord, all the earth;
Break forth in song, rejoice, and sing praises.
Sing to the Lord with the harp,
With the harp and the sound of a psalm,
With trumpets and the sound of a horn;
Shout joyfully before the Lord, the King.

Let the sea roar, and all its fullness,
The world and those who dwell in it;
Let the rivers clap their hands;
Let the hills be joyful together
    before the Lord,
(W)For He is coming to judge the earth.
With righteousness He shall judge the world,
And the peoples with [e]equity.

Praise to the Lord for His Holiness

99 The Lord reigns;
Let the peoples tremble!
(X)He dwells between the cherubim;
Let the earth be [f]moved!
The Lord is great in Zion,
And He is high above all the peoples.
Let them praise Your great and awesome name—
[g]He is holy.

The King’s strength also loves justice;
You have established equity;
You have executed justice and righteousness in Jacob.
Exalt the Lord our God,
And worship at His footstool—
He is holy.

Moses and Aaron were among His priests,
And Samuel was among those who (Y)called upon His name;
They called upon the Lord, and He answered them.
He spoke to them in the cloudy pillar;
They kept His testimonies and the [h]ordinance He gave them.

You answered them, O Lord our God;
You were to them God-Who-Forgives,
Though You took vengeance on their deeds.
Exalt the Lord our God,
And worship at His holy hill;
For the Lord our God is holy.
