God alone a refuge from treachery and oppression.

For the Chief Musician; after the manner of Jeduthun. A Psalm of David.

62 My soul [a]waiteth in silence for God only:
From him cometh my salvation.
He only is my rock and my salvation:
He is my high tower; I shall not be greatly moved.
How long will ye set upon a man,
[b]That ye may slay him, all of you,
Like a leaning wall, like a tottering fence?
They only consult to thrust him down from his dignity;
They delight in lies;
They bless with their mouth, but they curse inwardly. Selah
My soul, [c]wait thou in silence for God only;
For my expectation is from him.
He only is my rock and my salvation:
He is my high tower; I shall not be moved.
With God is my salvation and my glory:
The rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God.
Trust in him at all times, ye people;
Pour out your heart before him:
God is a refuge for us. Selah
Surely men of low degree are [d]vanity, and men of high degree are a lie:
In the balances they will go up;
They are together lighter than vanity.
10 Trust not in oppression,
And become not vain in robbery:
If riches increase, set not your heart thereon.
11 God hath spoken once,
Twice have I heard this,
That power belongeth unto God.
12 Also unto thee, O Lord, belongeth lovingkindness;
For thou renderest to every man according to his work.

Confidence in God’s Salvation

For the music director, on Jeduthun.[a]

A psalm of David.[b]

62 Only for God my soul waits in silence.
From him is my salvation.
Only he is my rock and my salvation,
my high stronghold; I shall not be greatly shaken.
How long will you attack a man?
All of you will be shattered[c]
like a leaning wall, a tottering fence.
They only[d] plan to thrust him down from his high position;
they are pleased with deception.
With their mouths[e] they bless,
but inwardly[f] they curse. Selah
Only for God wait in silence, O my soul,
because my hope is from him.
Only he is my rock and my salvation,
my high stronghold; I shall not be shaken.
On God rests my salvation and my glory;
God[g] is my strong rock, my refuge.
Trust him at all times, O people;
pour out before him your heart.
God is a refuge for us. Selah
Only a vapor[h] are men of low degree,
a deception are men of high degree.
Weighed[i] in a balance,
together they are lighter than a vapor.
10 Do not trust in extortion,
and do not put vain confidence in robbery.
If wealth increases,
do not set your heart on it.
11 Once God has spoken;
twice I have heard this:
that strength belongs to God.
12 And to you belongs loyal love, O Lord,
because you will render to each according to his work.
