50 The Mighty One, God, the Lord, has spoken, And summoned the earth from the rising of the sun to its setting. 2 Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty, God has shone forth. 3 May our God come and not keep silence; Fire devours before Him, And it is very tempestuous around Him. 4 He summons the heavens above, And the earth, to judge His people: 5 “Gather My godly ones to Me, Those who have made a covenant with Me by sacrifice.” 6 And the heavens declare His righteousness, For God Himself is judge. [b]Selah.
7 “Hear, O My people, and I will speak; O Israel, I will testify [c]against you; I am God, your God. 8 “I do not reprove you for your sacrifices, And your burnt offerings are continually before Me. 9 “I shall take no young bull out of your house Nor male goats out of your folds. 10 “For every beast of the forest is Mine, The cattle on a thousand hills. 11 “I know every bird of the mountains, And everything that moves in the field is [d]Mine. 12 “If I were hungry I would not tell you, For the world is Mine, and [e]all it contains. 13 “Shall I eat the flesh of [f]bulls Or drink the blood of male goats? 14 “Offer to God a sacrifice of thanksgiving And pay your vows to the Most High; 15 Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I shall rescue you, and you will honor Me.”
16 But to the wicked God says, “What right have you to tell of My statutes And to take My covenant in your mouth? 17 “For you hate discipline, And you cast My words behind you. 18 “When you see a thief, you [g]are pleased with him, And [h]you associate with adulterers. 19 “You [i]let your mouth loose in evil And your tongue frames deceit. 20 “You sit and speak against your brother; You slander your own mother’s son. 21 “These things you have done and I kept silence; You thought that I was just like you; I will reprove you and state the case in order before your eyes.
22 “Now consider this, you who forget God, Or I will tear you in pieces, and there will be none to deliver. 23 “He who offers a sacrifice of thanksgiving honors Me; And to him who [j]orders his way aright I shall show the salvation of God.”
For the choir director; according to [a]Mahalath. A [b]Maskil of David.
53 The fool has said in his heart, “There is no God,” They are corrupt, and have committed abominable injustice; There is no one who does good. 2 God has looked down from heaven upon the sons of men To see if there is anyone who [c]understands, Who seeks after God. 3 Every one of them has turned aside; together they have become corrupt; There is no one who does good, not even one.
4 Have the workers of wickedness no knowledge, Who eat up My people as though they ate bread And have not called upon God? 5 There they were in great [d]fear where no [e]fear had been; For God scattered the bones of [f]him who encamped against you; You put them to shame, because God had rejected them. 6 Oh, that the salvation of Israel [g]would come out of Zion! When God [h]restores His captive people, [i]Let Jacob rejoice, let Israel be glad.
Lament over Defeat in Battle, and Prayer for Help.
For the choir director; according to [a]Shushan Eduth. A [b]Mikhtam of David, to teach; [c]when he struggled with Aram-naharaim and with Aram-zobah, and Joab returned, and smote twelve thousand of Edom in the Valley of Salt.
60 O God, You have rejected us. You have [d]broken us; You have been angry; O, restore us. 2 You have made the [e]land quake, You have split it open; Heal its breaches, for it totters. 3 You have [f]made Your people experience hardship; You have given us [g]wine to drink that makes us stagger. 4 You have given a banner to those who fear You, That it may be displayed because of the truth. [h]Selah. 5 That Your beloved may be delivered, Save with Your right hand, and answer [i]us!
6 God has spoken in His [j]holiness: “I will exult, I will portion out Shechem and measure out the valley of Succoth. 7 “Gilead is Mine, and Manasseh is Mine; Ephraim also is the [k]helmet of My head; Judah is My [l]scepter. 8 “Moab is My washbowl; Over Edom I shall throw My shoe; Shout loud, O Philistia, because of Me!”
9 Who will bring me into the besieged city? Who [m]will lead me to Edom? 10 Have not You Yourself, O God, rejected us? And will You not go forth with our armies, O God? 11 O give us help against the adversary, For deliverance [n]by man is in vain. 12 [o]Through God we shall do valiantly, And it is He who will tread down our adversaries.
For the choir director; set to[a]Al-tashheth. A Psalm of Asaph, a Song.
75 We give thanks to You, O God, we give thanks, For Your name is near; Men declare Your wondrous works. 2 “When I select an appointed time, It is I who judge with equity. 3 “The earth and all who dwell in it [b]melt; It is I who have firmly set its pillars. [c]Selah. 4 “I said to the boastful, ‘Do not boast,’ And to the wicked, ‘Do not lift up the horn; 5 Do not lift up your horn on high, Do not speak with insolent [d]pride.’”
6 For not from the east, nor from the west, Nor from the [e]desert comes exaltation; 7 But God is the Judge; He puts down one and exalts another. 8 For a cup is in the hand of the Lord, and the wine foams; It is [f]well mixed, and He pours out of this; Surely all the wicked of the earth must drain anddrink down its dregs.
9 But as for me, I will declare it forever; I will sing praises to the God of Jacob. 10 And all the horns of the wicked [g]He will cut off, Butthe horns of the righteous will be lifted up.
