God Is King over All the Earth

To the choirmaster. A Psalm of (A)the Sons of Korah.

47 (B)Clap your hands, all peoples!
    (C)Shout to God with loud songs of joy!
For the Lord, the Most High, (D)is to be feared,
    (E)a great king over all the earth.
He (F)subdued peoples under us,
    and nations under our feet.
He chose our (G)heritage for us,
    (H)the pride of Jacob whom he loves. Selah

God (I)has gone up with a shout,
    the Lord with the sound of a trumpet.
Sing praises to God, sing praises!
    Sing praises to our King, sing praises!
For God is (J)the King of all the earth;
    sing praises (K)with a psalm![a]

God (L)reigns over the nations;
    God sits on his holy throne.
(M)The princes of the peoples gather
    as the people of the God of Abraham.
For (N)the shields of the earth belong to God;
    he is highly exalted!

Zion, the City of Our God

A Song. A Psalm of (O)the Sons of Korah.

48 (P)Great is the Lord and greatly to be praised
    in (Q)the city of our God!
His (R)holy mountain, (S)beautiful in elevation,
    is (T)the joy of all the earth,
Mount Zion, in the far north,
    (U)the city of the great King.
Within her citadels God
    has made himself known as a fortress.

For behold, (V)the kings assembled;
    they came on together.
As soon as they saw it, they were astounded;
    they were in panic; they took to flight.
(W)Trembling took hold of them there,
    anguish (X)as of a woman in labor.
By (Y)the east wind you (Z)shattered
    the ships of (AA)Tarshish.
As we have heard, so have we seen
    in the city of the Lord of hosts,
in (AB)the city of our God,
    which God will (AC)establish forever. Selah

We have thought on your (AD)steadfast love, O God,
    in the midst of your temple.
10 As your (AE)name, O God,
    so your praise reaches to (AF)the ends of the earth.
Your right hand is filled with righteousness.
11     Let Mount (AG)Zion be glad!
Let (AH)the daughters of Judah rejoice
    because of your judgments!

12 Walk about Zion, go around her,
    number her towers,
13 consider well her (AI)ramparts,
    go through her citadels,
(AJ)that you may tell the next generation
14     that this is God,
our God forever and ever.
    He will (AK)guide us forever.[b]

Why Should I Fear in Times of Trouble?

To the choirmaster. A Psalm of (AL)the Sons of Korah.

49 (AM)Hear this, all peoples!
    Give ear, all inhabitants of the world,
(AN)both low and high,
    rich and poor together!
My mouth shall speak (AO)wisdom;
    the meditation of my heart shall be understanding.
I will incline my ear to (AP)a proverb;
    I will solve my (AQ)riddle to the music of the lyre.

(AR)Why should I fear in (AS)times of trouble,
    when the iniquity of those who cheat me surrounds me,
those who (AT)trust in their wealth
    and boast of the abundance of their riches?
Truly no man (AU)can ransom another,
    or (AV)give to God (AW)the price of his life,
for (AX)the ransom of their life is costly
    and can never suffice,
that he should live on forever
    and (AY)never see the pit.

10 For he sees (AZ)that even the wise die;
    (BA)the fool and the stupid alike must perish
    and (BB)leave their wealth to others.
11 Their (BC)graves are their homes forever,[c]
    their dwelling places (BD)to all generations,
    though they (BE)called lands by their own names.
12 Man in his pomp (BF)will not remain;
    (BG)he is like the beasts that perish.

13 This is the path of those who have (BH)foolish confidence;
    yet after them people approve of their boasts.[d] Selah
14 Like sheep they are appointed for Sheol;
    death shall be their shepherd,
and the upright (BI)shall rule over them in the morning.
    (BJ)Their form shall be consumed (BK)in Sheol, with no place to dwell.
15 But God will (BL)ransom my soul from the power of Sheol,
    for he will (BM)receive me. Selah

16 Be not afraid when a man becomes rich,
    when the glory of his house increases.
17 (BN)For when he dies he will (BO)carry nothing away;
    his glory will not go down after him.
18 For though, while he lives, he counts himself (BP)blessed—
    and though you get praise when you do well for yourself—
19 his soul will (BQ)go to the generation of his fathers,
    who will never again (BR)see light.
20 (BS)Man in his pomp yet without understanding is like the beasts that perish.

My Soul Longs for the Courts of the Lord

To the choirmaster: according to (A)The Gittith.[a] A Psalm of (B)the Sons of Korah.

84 How (C)lovely is your (D)dwelling place,
    O Lord of hosts!
My soul (E)longs, yes, (F)faints
    for the courts of the Lord;
my heart and flesh sing for joy
    to (G)the living God.

Even the sparrow finds a home,
    and the swallow a nest for herself,
    where she may lay her young,
at your altars, O Lord of hosts,
    (H)my King and my God.
(I)Blessed are those who dwell in your house,
    ever (J)singing your praise! Selah

Blessed are those whose strength is in you,
    (K)in whose heart are the highways to Zion.[b]
As they go through the Valley of Baca
    they make it a place of springs;
    (L)the early rain also covers it with (M)pools.
They go (N)from strength to strength;
    each one (O)appears before God in Zion.

O (P)Lord God of hosts, hear my prayer;
    give ear, O God of Jacob! Selah
(Q)Behold our (R)shield, O God;
    look on the face of your anointed!

10 For a day (S)in your courts is better
    than a thousand elsewhere.
I would rather be (T)a doorkeeper in the house of my God
    than dwell in the tents of wickedness.
11 For the Lord God is (U)a sun and (V)shield;
    the Lord bestows favor and honor.
(W)No good thing does he withhold
    from those who (X)walk uprightly.
12 O Lord of hosts,
    (Y)blessed is the one who trusts in you!

Revive Us Again

To the choirmaster. A Psalm of (A)the Sons of Korah.

85 Lord, you were (B)favorable to your land;
    you (C)restored the fortunes of Jacob.
You (D)forgave the iniquity of your people;
    you (E)covered all their sin. Selah
You withdrew all your wrath;
    you (F)turned from your hot anger.

(G)Restore us again, O God of our salvation,
    and put away your indignation toward us!
(H)Will you be angry with us forever?
    Will you prolong your anger to all generations?
Will you not (I)revive us again,
    that your people may (J)rejoice in you?
Show us your steadfast love, O Lord,
    and grant us your salvation.

(K)Let me hear what God the Lord will speak,
    for he will (L)speak peace to his people, to his (M)saints;
    but let them not (N)turn back to (O)folly.
Surely his (P)salvation is near to those who fear him,
    that (Q)glory may dwell in our land.

10 (R)Steadfast love and faithfulness meet;
    (S)righteousness and peace kiss each other.
11 Faithfulness springs up from the ground,
    and righteousness looks down from the sky.
12 Yes, (T)the Lord will give what is good,
    and our land (U)will yield its increase.
13 (V)Righteousness will go before him
    and make his footsteps a way.

The Lord Reigns

97 (A)The Lord reigns, (B)let the earth rejoice;
    let the many (C)coastlands be glad!
(D)Clouds and thick darkness are all around him;
    (E)righteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne.
(F)Fire goes before him
    and burns up his adversaries all around.
His (G)lightnings light up the world;
    the earth sees and (H)trembles.
The mountains (I)melt like (J)wax before the Lord,
    before (K)the Lord of all the earth.

(L)The heavens proclaim his righteousness,
    and all (M)the peoples see his glory.
All worshipers of images are (N)put to shame,
    who make their boast in (O)worthless idols;
    (P)worship him, all you gods!

Zion hears and (Q)is glad,
    and the daughters of Judah rejoice,
    because of your judgments, O Lord.
For you, O Lord, are (R)most high over all the earth;
    you are exalted far above (S)all gods.

10 O you who love the Lord, (T)hate evil!
    He (U)preserves the lives of his (V)saints;
    he (W)delivers them from the hand of the wicked.
11 (X)Light (Y)is sown[a] for the righteous,
    and joy for the upright in heart.
12 (Z)Rejoice in the Lord, O you righteous,
    and (AA)give thanks to his holy name!
