22 (A)You have seen, O Lord; (B)be not silent!
    O Lord, (C)be not far from me!
23 Awake and (D)rouse yourself for (E)my vindication,
    for my cause, my God and my Lord!
24 (F)Vindicate me, O Lord, my God,
    according to your righteousness,
    and (G)let them not rejoice over me!
25 Let them not say in their hearts,
    (H)“Aha, our heart's desire!”
Let them not say, (I)“We have swallowed him up.”

26 Let them be (J)put to shame and disappointed altogether
    who rejoice at my calamity!
Let them be (K)clothed with shame and dishonor
    who (L)magnify themselves against me!

27 Let those who delight in my righteousness
    shout for joy and be glad
    (M)and say evermore,
(N)“Great is the Lord,
    who (O)delights in the welfare of his servant!”
28 Then my (P)tongue shall tell of your righteousness
    and of your praise all the day long.

How Precious Is Your Steadfast Love

To the choirmaster. Of David, the (Q)servant of the Lord.

36 Transgression speaks to the wicked
    deep in his heart;[a]
(R)there is no fear of God
    before his eyes.
(S)For he flatters himself in his own eyes
    that his iniquity cannot be found out and hated.
The words of his mouth are (T)trouble and deceit;
    (U)he has ceased to act wisely and do good.
He (V)plots (W)trouble while on his bed;
    he sets himself in (X)a way that is not good;
    (Y)he does not reject evil.

Your steadfast love, O Lord, extends to the heavens,
    your faithfulness to the clouds.
(Z)Your righteousness is like the mountains of God;
    (AA)your judgments are like the great deep;
    man and beast you (AB)save, O Lord.

(AC)How precious is your steadfast love, O God!
    The children of mankind take refuge (AD)in the shadow of your wings.
They feast on (AE)the abundance of your house,
    and you give them drink from (AF)the river of (AG)your delights.
For with you is (AH)the fountain of life;
    (AI)in your light do we see light.

10 Oh, continue your steadfast love to those who (AJ)know you,
    and your righteousness to (AK)the upright of heart!
11 Let not the foot of arrogance come upon me,
    nor the hand of the wicked drive me away.
12 There (AL)the evildoers lie fallen;
    they are thrust down, (AM)unable to rise.

He Will Not Forsake His Saints

[b] Of David.

37 (AN)Fret not yourself because of evildoers;
    be not (AO)envious of wrongdoers!
For they will soon (AP)fade like (AQ)the grass
    and wither (AR)like the green herb.

(AS)Trust in the Lord, and do good;
    (AT)dwell in the land and befriend faithfulness.[c]
(AU)Delight yourself in the Lord,
    and he will (AV)give you the desires of your heart.

(AW)Commit your way to the Lord;
    (AX)trust in him, and he will act.
(AY)He will bring forth your righteousness as the light,
    and your justice as (AZ)the noonday.

(BA)Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him;
    (BB)fret not yourself over the one who (BC)prospers in his way,
    over the man who carries out evil devices!

(BD)Refrain from anger, and forsake wrath!
    (BE)Fret not yourself; it tends only to evil.
(BF)For the evildoers shall be cut off,
    but those who wait for the Lord shall (BG)inherit the land.

10 In (BH)just a little while, the wicked will be no more;
    though you look carefully at (BI)his place, he will not be there.
11 But (BJ)the meek shall inherit the land
    and delight themselves in (BK)abundant peace.

12 The wicked (BL)plots against the righteous
    and (BM)gnashes his teeth at him,
13 but the Lord (BN)laughs at the wicked,
    for he sees that his (BO)day is coming.

14 The wicked draw the sword and (BP)bend their bows
    to bring down the poor and needy,
    to slay those whose (BQ)way is upright;
15 their sword shall enter their own heart,
    and their (BR)bows shall be broken.

16 (BS)Better is the little that the righteous has
    than the abundance of many wicked.
17 For (BT)the arms of the wicked shall be broken,
    but the Lord (BU)upholds the righteous.

18 The Lord (BV)knows the days of the blameless,
    and their (BW)heritage will remain forever;
19 they are not put to shame in evil times;
    in (BX)the days of famine they have abundance.

20 But the wicked will perish;
    the enemies of the Lord are like (BY)the glory of the pastures;
    they vanish—like (BZ)smoke they vanish away.

21 The wicked borrows but does not pay back,
    but the righteous (CA)is generous and gives;
22 for those blessed by the Lord[d] shall (CB)inherit the land,
    but those cursed by him (CC)shall be cut off.

23 The (CD)steps of a man are (CE)established by the Lord,
    when he delights in his way;
24 (CF)though he fall, he shall not be cast headlong,
    for the Lord (CG)upholds his hand.

25 I have been young, and now am old,
    yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken
    or his children (CH)begging for bread.
26 He is ever (CI)lending generously,
    and his children become a blessing.
