Protestation of Integrity and Prayer for Protection.
A Psalm of David.
26 [a]Vindicate me, O Lord, for I have walked in my integrity, And I have trusted in the Lord[b]without wavering. 2 Examine me, O Lord, and try me; Test my [c]mind and my heart. 3 For Your lovingkindness is before my eyes, And I have walked in Your [d]truth. 4 I do not sit with [e]deceitful men, Nor will I go with [f]pretenders. 5 I hate the assembly of evildoers, And I will not sit with the wicked. 6 I shall wash my hands in innocence, And I will go about Your altar, O Lord, 7 That I may proclaim with the voice of thanksgiving And declare all Your [g]wonders.
8 O Lord, I love the habitation of Your house And the place [h]where Your glory dwells. 9 Do not [i]take my soul away along with sinners, Nor my life with men of bloodshed, 10 In whose hands is a wicked scheme, And whose right hand is full of bribes. 11 But as for me, I shall walk in my integrity; Redeem me, and be gracious to me. 12 My foot stands on a level place; In the congregations I shall bless the Lord.
40 I waited [a]patiently for the Lord; And He inclined to me and heard my cry. 2 He brought me up out of the pit of destruction, out of the [b]miry clay, And He set my feet upon a rock making my footsteps firm. 3 He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God; Many will see and fear And will trust in the Lord.
4 How blessed is the man who has made the Lord his trust, And has not [c]turned to the proud, nor to those who lapse into falsehood. 5 Many, O Lord my God, are the wonders which You have done, And Your thoughts toward us; There is none to compare with You. If I would declare and speak of them, They would be too numerous to count.
6 [d]Sacrifice and meal offering You have not desired; My ears You have [e]opened; Burnt offering and sin offering You have not required. 7 Then I said, “Behold, I come; In the scroll of the book it is [f]written of me. 8 I delight to do Your will, O my God; Your Law is within my heart.”
9 I have proclaimed glad tidings of righteousness in the great congregation; Behold, I will not restrain my lips, O Lord, You know. 10 I have not hidden Your righteousness within my heart; I have spoken of Your faithfulness and Your salvation; I have not concealed Your lovingkindness and Your truth from the great congregation.
11 You, O Lord, will not withhold Your compassion from me; [g]Your lovingkindness and Your truth will continually preserve me. 12 For evils beyond number have surrounded me; My iniquities have overtaken me, so that I am not able to see; They are more numerous than the hairs of my head, And my heart has [h]failed me.
13 Be pleased, O Lord, to deliver me; Make haste, O Lord, to help me. 14 Let those be ashamed and humiliated together Who seek my [i]life to destroy it; Let those be turned back and dishonored Who delight [j]in my hurt. 15 Let those be [k]appalled because of their shame Who say to me, “Aha, aha!” 16 Let all who seek You rejoice and be glad in You; Let those who love Your salvation say continually, “The Lord be magnified!” 17 Since I am afflicted and needy, [l]Let the Lord be mindful of me. You are my help and my deliverer; Do not delay, O my God.

58 Do you indeed [c]speak righteousness, O [d]gods? Do you judge [e]uprightly, O sons of men? 2 No, in heart you work unrighteousness; On earth you weigh out the violence of your hands. 3 The wicked are estranged from the womb; These who speak lies go astray from [f]birth. 4 They have venom like the venom of a serpent; Like a deaf cobra that stops up its ear, 5 So that it does not hear the voice of [g]charmers, Or a skillful caster of spells.
6 O God, shatter their teeth in their mouth; Break out the fangs of the young lions, O Lord. 7 Let them flow away like water that runs off; When he [h]aims his arrows, let them be as [i]headless shafts. 8 Let them be as a snail which [j]melts away as it goes along, Like the miscarriages of a woman which never see the sun. 9 Before your pots can feel the fire of thorns He will sweep them away with a whirlwind, the [k]green and the burning alike.
10 The righteous will rejoice when he sees the vengeance; He will wash his feet in the blood of the wicked. 11 And men will say, “Surely there is a [l]reward for the righteous; Surely there is a God who judges [m]on earth!”
For the choir director; on a stringed instrument. A Psalm of David.
61 Hear my cry, O God; Give heed to my prayer. 2 From the end of the earth I call to You when my heart is faint; Lead me to the rock that is higher than I. 3 For You have been a refuge for me, A tower of strength [a]against the enemy. 4 Let me [b]dwell in Your tent forever; Let me take refuge in the shelter of Your wings. [c]Selah.
5 For You have heard my vows, O God; You have given me the inheritance of those who fear Your name. 6 You will [d]prolong the king’s [e]life; His years will be as many generations. 7 He will [f]abide before God forever; Appoint lovingkindness and truth that they may preserve him. 8 So I will sing praise to Your name forever, That I may pay my vows day by day.
For the choir director; [a]according to Jeduthun. A Psalm of David.
62 My soul waits in silence for God only; From Him is my salvation. 2 He only is my rock and my salvation, My stronghold; I shall not be greatly shaken.
3 How long will you assail a man, That you may murder him, all of you, Like a leaning wall, like a tottering fence? 4 They have counseled only to thrust him down from his high position; They delight in falsehood; They bless with [b]their mouth, But inwardly they curse. [c]Selah.
5 My soul, wait in silence for God only, For my hope is from Him. 6 He only is my rock and my salvation, My stronghold; I shall not be shaken. 7 On God my salvation and my glory rest; The rock of my strength, my refuge is in God. 8 Trust in Him at all times, O people; Pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us. Selah.
9 Men of low degree are only vanity and men of rank are a lie; In the balances they go up; They are together lighter than breath. 10 Do not trust in oppression And do not [d]vainly hope in robbery; If riches increase, do not set your heart upon them.
11 [e]Once God has spoken; [f]Twice I have heard this: That power belongs to God; 12 And lovingkindness is Yours, O Lord, For You recompense a man according to his work.
64 Hear my voice, O God, in my [a]complaint; Preserve my life from dread of the enemy. 2 Hide me from the secret counsel of evildoers, From the tumult of those who do iniquity, 3 Who have sharpened their tongue like a sword. They aimed bitter speech as their arrow, 4 To shoot [b]from concealment at the blameless; Suddenly they shoot at him, and do not fear. 5 They [c]hold fast to themselves an evil purpose; They [d]talk of laying snares secretly; They say, “Who can see them?” 6 They [e]devise injustices, saying, “We are [f]ready with a well-conceived plot”; For the [g]inward thought and the heart of a man are [h]deep.
7 But God [i]will shoot at them with an arrow; Suddenly [j]they will be wounded. 8 So [k]they [l]will make him stumble; Their own tongue is against them; All who see them will shake the head. 9 Then all men [m]will fear, And they [n]will declare the work of God, And [o]will consider [p]what He has done. 10 The righteous man will be glad in the Lord and will take refuge in Him; And all the upright in heart will glory.
