I will declare the Lord’s decree:
He said to Me, “You are My Son;[a]
today I have become Your[b] Father.(A)
Ask of Me,
and I will make the nations Your[c] inheritance
and the ends of the earth Your[d] possession.(B)
You will break[e] them with a rod of iron;
You[f] will shatter them like pottery.”[g](C)

10 So now, kings, be wise;
receive instruction, you judges of the earth.
11 Serve the Lord with reverential awe
and rejoice with trembling.(D)
12 Pay homage to[h] the Son or He[i] will be angry
and you will perish in your rebellion,[j](E)
for His[k] anger may ignite at any moment.(F)
All those who take refuge in Him[l] are happy.(G)

Psalm 110

The Priestly King

A Davidic psalm.

This is the declaration of the Lord
to my Lord:
“Sit at My right hand
until I make Your enemies Your footstool.”(A)
The Lord will extend Your mighty scepter from Zion.
Rule[a] over Your surrounding[b] enemies.(B)
Your people will volunteer
on Your day of battle.[c](C)
In holy splendor, from the womb of the dawn,
the dew of Your youth belongs to You.[d](D)
The Lord has sworn an oath and will not take it back:
“Forever, You are a priest
like Melchizedek.”(E)

The Lord is at Your right hand;
He will crush kings on the day of His anger.(F)
He will judge the nations, heaping up corpses;(G)
He will crush leaders over the entire world.(H)
He will drink from the brook by the road;(I)
therefore, He will lift up His head.(J)
