145 I will extol You, my God, O King, And I will bless Your name forever and ever. 2 Every day I will bless You, And I will praise Your name forever and ever. 3 Great is the Lord, and highly to be praised, And His greatness is unsearchable. 4 One generation shall praise Your works to another, And shall declare Your mighty acts. 5 On the glorious [a]splendor of Your majesty And on Your wonderful works, I will meditate. 6 Men shall speak of the [b]power of Your awesome acts, And I will tell of Your greatness. 7 They shall [c]eagerly utter the memory of Your abundant goodness And will shout joyfully of Your righteousness.
8 The Lord is gracious and merciful; Slow to anger and great in lovingkindness. 9 The Lord is good to all, And His mercies are over all His works. 10 All Your works shall give thanks to You, O Lord, And Your godly ones shall bless You. 11 They shall speak of the glory of Your kingdom And talk of Your power; 12 To make known to the sons of men [d]Your mighty acts And the glory of the majesty of [e]Your kingdom. 13 Your kingdom is [f]an everlasting kingdom, And Your dominion endures throughout all generations.
14 The Lordsustains all who fall And raises up all who are bowed down. 15 The eyes of all [g]look to You, And You give them their food in due time. 16 You open Your hand And satisfy the desire of every living thing.
17 The Lord is righteous in all His ways And kind in all His deeds. 18 The Lord is near to all who call upon Him, To all who call upon Him in truth. 19 He will fulfill the desire of those who fear Him; He will also hear their cry and will save them. 20 The Lordkeeps all who love Him, But all the wicked He will destroy. 21 My mouth will speak the praise of the Lord, And all flesh will bless His holy name forever and ever.
The Lord an Abundant Helper.
146 [h]Praise [i]the Lord! Praise the Lord, O my soul! 2 I will praise the Lordwhile I live; I will sing praises to my God while I have my being. 3 Do not trust in princes, In [j]mortal man, in whom there is no salvation. 4 His spirit departs, he returns to [k]the earth; In that very day his thoughts perish. 5 How blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob, Whose hope is in the Lord his God, 6 Who made heaven and earth, The sea and all that is in them; Who keeps [l]faith forever; 7 Who executes justice for the oppressed; Who gives food to the hungry. The Lordsets the prisoners free.
8 The Lordopens the eyes of the blind; The Lordraises up those who are bowed down; The Lordloves the righteous; 9 The Lord[m]protects the [n]strangers; He [o]supports the fatherless and the widow, But He [p]thwarts the way of the wicked. 10 The Lord will reign forever, Your God, O Zion, to all generations. [q]Praise [r]the Lord!
Praise for Jerusalem’s Restoration and Prosperity.
147 [s]Praise [t]the Lord! For it is good to sing praises to our God; For [u]it is pleasant and praise is becoming. 2 The Lordbuilds up Jerusalem; He gathers the outcasts of Israel. 3 He heals the brokenhearted And binds up their [v]wounds. 4 He counts the number of the stars; He [w]gives names to all of them. 5 Great is our Lord and abundant in strength; His understanding is [x]infinite. 6 The Lord[y]supports the afflicted; He brings down the wicked to the ground.
7 Sing to the Lord with thanksgiving; Sing praises to our God on the lyre, 8 Who covers the heavens with clouds, Who provides rain for the earth, Who makes grass to [z]grow on the mountains. 9 He gives to the beast its food, And to the young ravens which cry. 10 He does not delight in the strength of the horse; He does not take pleasure in the legs of a man. 11 The Lordfavors those who fear Him, Those who wait for His lovingkindness.
12 Praise the Lord, O Jerusalem! Praise your God, O Zion! 13 For He has strengthened the bars of your gates; He has blessed your sons within you. 14 He makes [aa]peace in your borders; He satisfies you with the [ab]finest of the wheat. 15 He sends forth His command to the earth; His word runs very swiftly. 16 He gives snow like wool; He scatters the frost like ashes. 17 He casts forth His ice as fragments; Who can stand before His cold? 18 He sends forth His word and melts them; He causes His wind to blow and the waters to flow. 19 He declares His words to Jacob, His statutes and His ordinances to Israel. 20 He has not dealt thus with any nation; And as for His ordinances, they have not known them. [ac]Praise [ad]the Lord!
