¹⁵^(A)The idols of the nations are silver and gold,
    the work of human hands.
¹⁶They have mouths, but do not speak;
    they have eyes, but do not see;
¹⁷they have ears, but do not hear,
    nor is there any breath in their mouths.
¹⁸Those who make them become like them,
    so do all who trust in them.

¹⁹^(B)O house of Israel, bless the Lord!
    O house of Aaron, bless the Lord!
²⁰O house of Levi, bless the Lord!
    You who fear the Lord, bless the Lord!
²¹Blessed be the Lord ^(C)from Zion,
    he who ^(D)dwells in Jerusalem!

¹⁸and killed mighty kings,

¹⁹Sihon, king of the Amorites,
    for his steadfast love endures forever;
²⁰and Og, king of Bashan,
    for his steadfast love endures forever;
²¹and gave their land as a heritage,

²²a heritage to Israel his ^(X)servant,

²³It is he who ^(Y)remembered us in our low estate,

²⁴and ^(Z)rescued us from our foes,

²⁵he who ^(AA)gives food to all flesh,

²⁶Give thanks to ^(AB)the God of heaven,

How Shall We Sing the Lord's Song?

137 By the waters of Babylon,
    there we sat down and wept,
    when we remembered Zion.
²On the willows^[b] there
    we hung up our lyres.
³For there our captors
    required of us songs,
and our tormentors, mirth, saying,
    “Sing us one of the songs of Zion!”

⁴^(AC)How shall we sing the Lord's song
    in a foreign land?
⁵If I forget you, O Jerusalem,
    ^(AD)let my right hand forget its skill!
⁶Let my ^(AE)tongue stick to the roof of my mouth,
    if I do not remember you,
if I do not set Jerusalem
    above my highest joy!

⁷Remember, O Lord, against the ^(AF)Edomites
    ^(AG)the day of Jerusalem,
how they said, ^(AH)“Lay it bare, lay it bare,
    down to its foundations!”
⁸O daughter of Babylon, ^(AI)doomed to be destroyed,
    blessed shall he be who ^(AJ)repays you
    with what you have done to us!
⁹Blessed shall he be who takes your little ones
    and ^(AK)dashes them against the rock!
