³ What shall be given to you,
Or what shall be done to you,
You false tongue?
⁴ Sharp arrows of the ^[a]warrior,
With coals of the broom tree!

⁵ Woe is me, that I dwell in ^(B)Meshech,
^(C)That I dwell among the tents of Kedar!
⁶ My soul has dwelt too long
With one who hates peace.
⁷ I am for peace;
But when I speak, they are for war.

^3 (F)He will not allow your foot to ^[b]be moved;
^(G)He who keeps you will not slumber.
⁴ Behold, He who keeps Israel
Shall neither slumber nor sleep.

⁵ The Lord is your ^[c]keeper;
The Lord is ^(H)your shade ^(I)at your right hand.
^6 (J)The sun shall not strike you by day,
Nor the moon by night.

⁷ The Lord shall ^[d]preserve you from all evil;
He shall ^(K)preserve your soul.
⁸ The Lord shall ^(L)preserve^[e] your going out and your coming in
From this time forth, and even forevermore.

³ Have mercy on us, O Lord, have mercy on us!
For we are exceedingly filled with contempt.
⁴ Our soul is exceedingly filled
With the scorn of those who are at ease,
With the contempt of the proud.

³ For ^(A)the scepter of wickedness shall not rest
On the land allotted to the righteous,
Lest the righteous reach out their hands to iniquity.

⁴ Do good, O Lord, to those who are good,
And to those who are upright in their hearts.

⁵ As for such as turn aside to their ^(B)crooked ways,
The Lord shall lead them away
With the workers of iniquity.

^(C)Peace be upon Israel!

^2 (B)When you eat the ^[a]labor of your hands,
You shall be happy, and it shall be ^(C)well with you.
³ Your wife shall be ^(D)like a fruitful vine
In the very heart of your house,
Your ^(E)children ^(F)like olive plants
All around your table.
⁴ Behold, thus shall the man be blessed
Who fears the Lord.

^5 (G)The Lord bless you out of Zion,
And may you see the good of Jerusalem
All the days of your life.
⁶ Yes, may you ^(H)see your children’s children.

^(I)Peace be upon Israel!

⁵ Let all those who hate Zion
Be put to shame and turned back.
⁶ Let them be as the ^(M)grass on the housetops,
Which withers before it grows up,
⁷ With which the reaper does not fill his hand,
Nor he who binds sheaves, his ^[c]arms.
⁸ Neither let those who pass by them say,
^(N)“The blessing of the Lord be upon you;
We bless you in the name of the Lord!”

^3 (P)If You, Lord, should ^[d]mark iniquities,
O Lord, who could ^(Q)stand?
⁴ But there is ^(R)forgiveness with You,
That ^(S)You may be feared.

^5 (T)I wait for the Lord, my soul waits,
And ^(U)in His word I do hope.
^6 (V)My soul waits for the Lord
More than those who watch for the morning—
Yes, more than those who watch for the morning.

^7 (W)O Israel, hope in the Lord;
For ^(X)with the Lord there is mercy,
And with Him is abundant redemption.
⁸ And ^(Y)He shall redeem Israel
From all his iniquities.

⁶ Behold, we heard of it ^(E)in Ephrathah;
^(F)We found it ^(G)in the fields of ^[a]the woods.
⁷ Let us go into His tabernacle;
^(H)Let us worship at His footstool.
^8 (I)Arise, O Lord, to Your resting place,
You and ^(J)the ark of Your strength.
⁹ Let Your priests ^(K)be clothed with righteousness,
And let Your saints shout for joy.

¹⁰ For Your servant David’s sake,
Do not turn away the face of Your ^[b]Anointed.

^11 (L)The Lord has sworn in truth to David;
He will not turn from it:
“I will set upon your throne ^(M)the ^[c]fruit of your body.
¹² If your sons will keep My covenant
And My testimony which I shall teach them,
Their sons also shall sit upon your throne forevermore.”

^13 (N)For the Lord has chosen Zion;
He has desired it for His ^[d]dwelling place:
¹⁴ “This^(O) is My resting place forever;
Here I will dwell, for I have desired it.
^15 (P)I will abundantly bless her ^[e]provision;
I will satisfy her poor with bread.
^16 (Q)I will also clothe her priests with salvation,
^(R)And her saints shall shout aloud for joy.
^17 (S)There I will make the ^[f]horn of David grow;
^(T)I will prepare a lamp for My ^[g]Anointed.
¹⁸ His enemies I will ^(U)clothe with shame,
But upon Himself His crown shall flourish.”

³ The Lord who made heaven and earth
Bless you from Zion!

Praise the name of the Lord;
^(B)Praise Him, O you servants of the Lord!
^2 (C)You who stand in the house of the Lord,
In ^(D)the courts of the house of our God,
³ Praise the Lord, for ^(E)the Lord is good;
Sing praises to His name, ^(F)for it is pleasant.
⁴ For ^(G)the Lord has chosen Jacob for Himself,
Israel for His ^[a]special treasure.

⁵ For I know that ^(H)the Lord is great,
And our Lord is above all gods.
^6 (I)Whatever the Lord pleases He does,
In heaven and in earth,
In the seas and in all deep places.
^7 (J)He causes the ^[b]vapors to ascend from the ends of the earth;
^(K)He makes lightning for the rain;
He brings the wind out of His ^(L)treasuries.

^8 (M)He ^[c]destroyed the firstborn of Egypt,
^[d]Both of man and beast.
^9 (N)He sent signs and wonders into the midst of you, O Egypt,
^(O)Upon Pharaoh and all his servants.
^10 (P)He defeated many nations
And slew mighty kings—
¹¹ Sihon king of the Amorites,
Og king of Bashan,
And ^(Q)all the kingdoms of Canaan—
^12 (R)And gave their land as a ^[e]heritage,
A heritage to Israel His people.

^13 (S)Your name, O Lord, endures forever,
Your fame, O Lord, throughout all generations.
^14 (T)For the Lord will judge His people,
And He will have compassion on His servants.

^15 (U)The idols of the nations are silver and gold,
The work of men’s hands.
¹⁶ They have mouths, but they do not speak;
Eyes they have, but they do not see;
¹⁷ They have ears, but they do not hear;
Nor is there any breath in their mouths.
¹⁸ Those who make them are like them;
So is everyone who trusts in them.

^19 (V)Bless the Lord, O house of Israel!
Bless the Lord, O house of Aaron!
²⁰ Bless the Lord, O house of Levi!
You who fear the Lord, bless the Lord!
²¹ Blessed be the Lord ^(W)out of Zion,
Who dwells in Jerusalem!
