Psalm 111

The Lord Praised for His Goodness.

111 ^[a]Praise ^[b]the Lord!
I ^(A)will give thanks to the Lord with all my heart,
In the ^(B)company of the upright and in the assembly.
²^(C)Great are the works of the Lord;
They are ^[c]^(D)studied by all who delight in them.
³^[d]^(E)Splendid and majestic is His work,
And ^(F)His righteousness endures forever.
⁴He has caused His ^[e]wonders ^[f]to be remembered;
The Lord is ^(G)gracious and compassionate.
⁵He has ^(H)given ^[g]food to those who ^[h]fear Him;
He will ^(I)remember His covenant forever.
⁶He has made known to His people the power of His works,
In giving them the inheritance of the nations.

⁷The works of His hands are ^[i]^(J)truth and justice;
All His precepts ^(K)are trustworthy.
⁸They are ^(L)upheld forever and ever;
They are performed in ^[j]^(M)truth and uprightness.
⁹He has sent ^(N)redemption to His people;
He has ^[k]ordained His covenant forever;
^(O)Holy and ^[l]awesome is His name.
¹⁰The ^[m]^(P)fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom;
All those who ^[n]follow ^(Q)His commandments have a good understanding;
His ^(R)praise endures forever.

Prosperity of One Who Fears the Lord.

112 ^[a]Praise ^[b]the Lord!
^(A)Blessed is a person who ^[c]fears the Lord,
Who greatly ^(B)delights in His commandments.
²His ^[d]^(C)descendants will be mighty ^[e]on the earth;
The generation of the ^(D)upright will be blessed.
³^(E)Wealth and riches are in his house,
And his righteousness endures forever.
⁴Light shines in the darkness ^(F)for the upright;
He is ^(G)gracious, compassionate, and righteous.
⁵It goes well for a person who ^(H)is gracious and lends;
He will ^[f]maintain his cause in judgment.
⁶For he will ^(I)never be shaken;
The ^(J)righteous will be ^[g]remembered forever.

⁷He will not fear ^(K)bad news;
His ^(L)heart is steadfast, ^(M)trusting in the Lord.
⁸His ^(N)heart is firm, he ^(O)will not fear,
^[h]But will ^(P)look with satisfaction on his enemies.
⁹^[i]He ^(Q)has given freely to the poor,
His righteousness endures forever;
His ^(R)horn will be exalted in honor.

¹⁰The ^(S)wicked will see it and be ^[j]vexed,
He will ^(T)gnash his teeth and ^(U)melt away;
The ^(V)desire of the wicked will perish.

^(A)Praise Him, you ^(B)servants of the Lord,
Praise the name of the Lord.
²^(C)Blessed be the name of the Lord
From this time on and forever.
³^(D)From ^[c]the rising of the sun to its setting,
The ^(E)name of the Lord is to be praised.
⁴The Lord is ^(F)high above all nations;
His ^(G)glory is above the heavens.

⁵^(H)Who is like the Lord our God,
Who ^(I)is enthroned on high,
⁶Who ^(J)looks far down to
The heavens and the earth?
⁷He ^(K)raises the poor from the dust,
He lifts the needy from the garbage heap,
⁸To ^(L)seat them with noblemen,
With the noblemen of His people.
⁹He ^(M)has the infertile woman live in the house
As a joyful mother of children.

114 When Israel went forth ^(A)from Egypt,
The house of Jacob from a people of a ^(B)foreign language,
²Judah became ^(C)His sanctuary;
Israel, ^(D)His dominion.

³The ^(E)sea looked and fled;
The ^(F)Jordan turned back.
⁴The mountains ^(G)skipped like rams,
The hills, like lambs.
⁵What ^(H)ails you, sea, that you flee?
Jordan, that you turn back?
⁶Mountains, that you skip like rams?
Hills, like lambs?

⁷^(I)Tremble, earth, before the Lord,
Before the God of Jacob,
⁸Who ^(J)turned the rock into a ^(K)pool of water,
The ^(L)flint into a fountain of water.

Psalm 115

Heathen Idols Contrasted with the Lord.

115 ^(A)Not to us, Lord, not to us,
But ^(B)to Your name give glory,
Because of Your mercy, because of Your ^[a]truth.
²^(C)Why should the nations say,
“^(D)Where, then, is their God?”
³But our ^(E)God is in the heavens;
He ^(F)does whatever He pleases.
⁴Their ^(G)idols are silver and gold,
The ^(H)work of human hands.
⁵They have mouths, but they ^(I)cannot speak;
They have eyes, but they cannot see;
⁶They have ears, but they cannot hear;
They have noses, but they cannot smell;

They cannot make a sound with their throat.

He is their help and their shield.

He is their help and their shield.

He will bless the house of Israel;
He will bless the house of Aaron.

¹⁴May the Lord ^(S)increase you,
You and your children.
¹⁵May you be blessed of the Lord,

¹⁶The heavens are ^(U)the heavens of the Lord,
But ^(V)the earth He has given to the sons of mankind.

116 ^(A)I love the Lord, because He ^(B)hears
My voice and my pleas.
²Because He has ^(C)inclined His ear to me,
Therefore I will call upon Him as long as I live.
³The ^(D)snares of death encompassed me
And the ^[a]terrors of ^[b]Sheol ^[c]came upon me;
I found distress and sorrow.
⁴Then ^(E)I called upon the name of the Lord:
“Please, Lord, ^(F)save my ^[d]life!”

⁵^(G)Gracious is the Lord, and ^(H)righteous;
Yes, our God is ^(I)compassionate.
⁶The Lord watches over ^(J)the simple;

¹⁴I will ^(X)pay my vows to the Lord;
May it be ^(Y)in the presence of all His people!

Is the death of His godly ones.
¹⁶O Lord, ^[g]I surely am ^(AA)Your slave,
I am Your slave, the ^(AB)son of Your female slave,
You have ^(AC)unfastened my restraints.
¹⁷I will offer You ^(AD)a sacrifice of thanksgiving,

May it be in the presence of all His people,
