Announcement of the Messiah’s Reign^(A)

A Psalm of David.

110 The ^(B)Lord said to my Lord,
“Sit at My right hand,
Till I make Your enemies Your ^(C)footstool.”
²The Lord shall send the rod of Your strength ^(D)out of Zion.
^(E)Rule in the midst of Your enemies!

³^(F)Your people shall be volunteers
In the day of Your power;
^(G)In the beauties of holiness, from the womb of the morning,
You have the dew of Your youth.
⁴The Lord has sworn
And ^(H)will not relent,
“You are a ^(I)priest forever
According to the order of ^(J)Melchizedek.”

⁵The Lord is ^(K)at Your right hand;
He shall ^[a]execute kings ^(L)in the day of His wrath.
⁶He shall judge among the nations,
He shall fill the places with dead bodies,
^(M)He shall ^[b]execute the heads of many countries.
⁷He shall drink of the brook by the wayside;
^(N)Therefore He shall lift up the head.

Praise to God for His Faithfulness and Justice

111 Praise^[c] the Lord!

^(O)I will praise the Lord with my whole heart,
In the assembly of the upright and in the congregation.

²^(P)The works of the Lord are great,
^(Q)Studied by all who have pleasure in them.
³His work is ^(R)honorable and glorious,
And His righteousness endures forever.
⁴He has made His wonderful works to be remembered;
^(S)The Lord is gracious and full of compassion.
⁵He has given food to those who fear Him;
He will ever be mindful of His covenant.
⁶He has declared to His people the power of His works,
In giving them the ^[d]heritage of the nations.

⁷The works of His hands are ^(T)verity^[e] and justice;
All His precepts are sure.
⁸^(U)They stand fast forever and ever,
And are ^(V)done in truth and uprightness.
⁹^(W)He has sent redemption to His people;
He has commanded His covenant forever:
^(X)Holy and awesome is His name.

¹⁰^(Y)The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom;
A good understanding have all those who do His commandments.
His praise endures forever.

The Blessed State of the Righteous

112 Praise^[f] the Lord!

Blessed is the man who fears the Lord,
Who ^(Z)delights greatly in His commandments.

²^(AA)His descendants will be mighty on earth;
The generation of the upright will be blessed.
³^(AB)Wealth and riches will be in his house,
And his righteousness ^[g]endures forever.
⁴^(AC)Unto the upright there arises light in the darkness;
He is gracious, and full of compassion, and righteous.
⁵^(AD)A good man deals graciously and lends;
He will guide his affairs ^(AE)with discretion.
⁶Surely he will never be shaken;
^(AF)The righteous will be in everlasting remembrance.
⁷^(AG)He will not be afraid of evil tidings;
His heart is steadfast, trusting in the Lord.
⁸His ^(AH)heart is established;
^(AI)He will not be afraid,
Until he ^(AJ)sees his desire upon his enemies.

⁹He has dispersed abroad,
He has given to the poor;
His righteousness endures forever;
His ^[h]horn will be exalted with honor.
¹⁰The wicked will see it and be grieved;
He will gnash his teeth and melt away;
The desire of the wicked shall perish.

2 Corinthians 1

Greeting

1 Paul, ^(A)an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and ^(B)Timothy our brother,

To the church of God which is at Corinth, ^(C)with all the saints who are in all Achaia:

²^(D)Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Comfort in Suffering

³^(E)Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, ⁴who ^(F)comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any ^[a]trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. ⁵For as ^(G)the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our ^[b]consolation also abounds through Christ. ⁶Now if we are afflicted, ^(H)it is for your consolation and salvation, which is effective for enduring the same sufferings which we also suffer. Or if we are comforted, it is for your consolation and salvation. ⁷And our hope for you is steadfast, because we know that ^(I)as you are partakers of the sufferings, so also you will partake of the consolation.

Delivered from Suffering

⁸For we do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, of ^(J)our ^[c]trouble which came to us in Asia: that we were burdened beyond measure, above strength, so that we despaired even of life. ⁹Yes, we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should ^(K)not trust in ourselves but in God who raises the dead, ¹⁰^(L)who delivered us from so great a death, and ^[d]does deliver us; in whom we trust that He will still deliver us, ¹¹you also ^(M)helping together in prayer for us, that thanks may be given by many persons on ^[e]our behalf ^(N)for the gift granted to us through many.

Paul’s Sincerity

¹²For our boasting is this: the testimony of our conscience that we conducted ourselves in the world in ^[f]simplicity and ^(O)godly sincerity, ^(P)not with fleshly wisdom but by the grace of God, and more abundantly toward you. ¹³For we are not writing any other things to you than what you read or understand. Now I trust you will understand, even to the end ¹⁴(as also you have understood us in part), ^(Q)that we are your boast as ^(R)you also are ours, in the day of the Lord Jesus.

Sparing the Church

¹⁵And in this confidence ^(S)I intended to come to you before, that you might have ^(T)a second benefit— ¹⁶to pass by way of you to Macedonia, ^(U)to come again from Macedonia to you, and be helped by you on my way to Judea. ¹⁷Therefore, when I was planning this, did I do it lightly? Or the things I plan, do I plan ^(V)according to the flesh, that with me there should be Yes, Yes, and No, No? ¹⁸But as God is ^(W)faithful, our ^[g]word to you was not Yes and No. ¹⁹For ^(X)the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by us—by me, ^(Y)Silvanus, and ^(Z)Timothy—was not Yes and No, ^(AA)but in Him was Yes. ²⁰^(AB)For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us. ²¹Now He who establishes us with you in Christ and ^(AC)has anointed us is God, ²²who ^(AD)also has sealed us and ^(AE)given us the Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee.

²³Moreover ^(AF)I call God as witness against my soul, ^(AG)that to spare you I came no more to Corinth. ²⁴Not ^(AH)that we ^[h]have dominion over your faith, but are fellow workers for your joy; for ^(AI)by faith you stand.
