³ Set a guard over my mouth,^(F) Lord;
    keep watch over the door of my lips.^(G)
4 Do not let my heart^(H) be drawn to what is evil
    so that I take part in wicked deeds^(I)
along with those who are evildoers;
    do not let me eat their delicacies.^(J)

⁵ Let a righteous man strike me—that is a kindness;
    let him rebuke me^(K)—that is oil on my head.^(L)
My head will not refuse it,
    for my prayer will still be against the deeds of evildoers.

⁶ Their rulers will be thrown down from the cliffs,^(M)
    and the wicked will learn that my words were well spoken.
⁷ They will say, “As one plows^(N) and breaks up the earth,^(O)
    so our bones have been scattered at the mouth^(P) of the grave.”

⁸ But my eyes are fixed^(Q) on you, Sovereign Lord;
    in you I take refuge^(R)—do not give me over to death.
⁹ Keep me safe^(S) from the traps set by evildoers,^(T)
    from the snares^(U) they have laid for me.
¹⁰ Let the wicked fall^(V) into their own nets,
    while I pass by in safety.^(W)

³ When my spirit grows faint^(AC) within me,
    it is you who watch over my way.
In the path where I walk
    people have hidden a snare for me.
⁴ Look and see, there is no one at my right hand;
    no one is concerned for me.
I have no refuge;^(AD)
    no one cares^(AE) for my life.

⁵ I cry to you, Lord;
    I say, “You are my refuge,^(AF)
    my portion^(AG) in the land of the living.”^(AH)

⁶ Listen to my cry,^(AI)
    for I am in desperate need;^(AJ)
rescue me^(AK) from those who pursue me,
    for they are too strong^(AL) for me.
⁷ Set me free from my prison,^(AM)
    that I may praise your name.^(AN)
Then the righteous will gather about me
    because of your goodness to me.^(AO)

⁷ Answer me quickly,^(BA) Lord;
    my spirit fails.^(BB)
Do not hide your face^(BC) from me
    or I will be like those who go down to the pit.
⁸ Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love,^(BD)
    for I have put my trust in you.
Show me the way^(BE) I should go,
    for to you I entrust my life.^(BF)
9 Rescue me^(BG) from my enemies,^(BH) Lord,
    for I hide myself in you.
¹⁰ Teach me^(BI) to do your will,
    for you are my God;^(BJ)
may your good Spirit
    lead^(BK) me on level ground.^(BL)

¹¹ For your name’s sake,^(BM) Lord, preserve my life;^(BN)
    in your righteousness,^(BO) bring me out of trouble.
¹² In your unfailing love, silence my enemies;^(BP)
    destroy all my foes,^(BQ)
    for I am your servant.^(BR)

³ Lord, what are human beings^(BX) that you care for them,
    mere mortals that you think of them?
⁴ They are like a breath;^(BY)
    their days are like a fleeting shadow.^(BZ)

⁵ Part your heavens,^(CA) Lord, and come down;^(CB)
    touch the mountains, so that they smoke.^(CC)
6 Send forth lightning^(CD) and scatter^(CE) the enemy;
    shoot your arrows^(CF) and rout them.
⁷ Reach down your hand from on high;^(CG)
    deliver me and rescue me^(CH)
from the mighty waters,^(CI)
    from the hands of foreigners^(CJ)
8 whose mouths are full of lies,^(CK)
    whose right hands^(CL) are deceitful.^(CM)

⁹ I will sing a new song^(CN) to you, my God;
    on the ten-stringed lyre^(CO) I will make music to you,
¹⁰ to the One who gives victory to kings,^(CP)
    who delivers his servant David.^(CQ)

From the deadly sword^{(CR) 11} deliver me;
    rescue me^(CS) from the hands of foreigners^(CT)
whose mouths are full of lies,^(CU)
    whose right hands are deceitful.^(CV)

¹² Then our sons in their youth
    will be like well-nurtured plants,^(CW)
and our daughters will be like pillars^(CX)
    carved to adorn a palace.
¹³ Our barns will be filled^(CY)
    with every kind of provision.
Our sheep will increase by thousands,
    by tens of thousands in our fields;
¹⁴     our oxen^(CZ) will draw heavy loads.^[e]
There will be no breaching of walls,^(DA)
    no going into captivity,
    no cry of distress in our streets.^(DB)
15 Blessed is the people^(DC) of whom this is true;
    blessed is the people whose God is the Lord.

³ Great^(DI) is the Lord and most worthy of praise;^(DJ)
    his greatness no one can fathom.^(DK)
4 One generation^(DL) commends your works to another;
    they tell^(DM) of your mighty acts.^(DN)
5 They speak of the glorious splendor^(DO) of your majesty—
    and I will meditate on your wonderful works.^[g](DP)
6 They tell^(DQ) of the power of your awesome works—^(DR)
    and I will proclaim^(DS) your great deeds.^(DT)
7 They celebrate your abundant goodness^(DU)

⁸ The Lord is gracious and compassionate,^(DX)
    slow to anger and rich in love.^(DY)

⁹ The Lord is good^(DZ) to all;
    he has compassion^(EA) on all he has made.
¹⁰ All your works praise you,^(EB) Lord;
    your faithful people extol^(EC) you.^(ED)
11 They tell of the glory of your kingdom^(EE)
    and speak of your might,^(EF)
12 so that all people may know of your mighty acts^(EG)
    and the glorious splendor of your kingdom.^(EH)
13 Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom,^(EI)
    and your dominion endures through all generations.

The Lord is trustworthy^(EJ) in all he promises^(EK)
    and faithful in all he does.^[h]
14 The Lord upholds^(EL) all who fall
    and lifts up all^(EM) who are bowed down.^(EN)
15 The eyes of all look to you,
    and you give them their food^(EO) at the proper time.
¹⁶ You open your hand
    and satisfy the desires^(EP) of every living thing.

¹⁷ The Lord is righteous^(EQ) in all his ways
    and faithful in all he does.^(ER)
18 The Lord is near^(ES) to all who call on him,^(ET)
    to all who call on him in truth.
¹⁹ He fulfills the desires^(EU) of those who fear him;^(EV)
    he hears their cry^(EW) and saves them.^(EX)
20 The Lord watches over^(EY) all who love him,^(EZ)
    but all the wicked he will destroy.^(FA)

²¹ My mouth will speak^(FB) in praise of the Lord.
    Let every creature^(FC) praise his holy name^(FD)
    for ever and ever.

    I will sing praise^(FG) to my God as long as I live.^(FH)
3 Do not put your trust in princes,^(FI)
    in human beings,^(FJ) who cannot save.
⁴ When their spirit departs, they return to the ground;^(FK)
    on that very day their plans come to nothing.^(FL)
5 Blessed are those^(FM) whose help^(FN) is the God of Jacob,
    whose hope is in the Lord their God.

⁶ He is the Maker of heaven^(FO) and earth,
    the sea, and everything in them—
    he remains faithful^(FP) forever.
⁷ He upholds^(FQ) the cause of the oppressed^(FR)
    and gives food to the hungry.^(FS)
The Lord sets prisoners free,^(FT)
8     the Lord gives sight^(FU) to the blind,^(FV)
the Lord lifts up those who are bowed down,^(FW)
    the Lord loves the righteous.^(FX)
9 The Lord watches over the foreigner^(FY)
    and sustains the fatherless^(FZ) and the widow,^(GA)
    but he frustrates the ways of the wicked.

¹⁰ The Lord reigns^(GB) forever,
    your God, O Zion, for all generations.

Praise the Lord.

How good it is to sing praises to our God,
    how pleasant^(GC) and fitting to praise him!^(GD)

² The Lord builds up Jerusalem;^(GE)
    he gathers the exiles^(GF) of Israel.
³ He heals the brokenhearted^(GG)
    and binds up their wounds.^(GH)
4 He determines the number of the stars^(GI)
    and calls them each by name.
⁵ Great is our Lord^(GJ) and mighty in power;^(GK)
    his understanding has no limit.^(GL)
6 The Lord sustains the humble^(GM)
    but casts the wicked^(GN) to the ground.

⁷ Sing to the Lord^(GO) with grateful praise;^(GP)
    make music^(GQ) to our God on the harp.^(GR)

⁸ He covers the sky with clouds;^(GS)
    he supplies the earth with rain^(GT)
    and makes grass grow^(GU) on the hills.
⁹ He provides food^(GV) for the cattle
    and for the young ravens^(GW) when they call.

¹⁰ His pleasure is not in the strength^(GX) of the horse,^(GY)
    nor his delight in the legs of the warrior;
¹¹ the Lord delights^(GZ) in those who fear him,^(HA)
    who put their hope^(HB) in his unfailing love.^(HC)

¹² Extol the Lord, Jerusalem;^(HD)
    praise your God, Zion.

¹³ He strengthens the bars of your gates^(HE)
    and blesses your people^(HF) within you.
¹⁴ He grants peace^(HG) to your borders
    and satisfies you^(HH) with the finest of wheat.^(HI)

¹⁵ He sends his command^(HJ) to the earth;
    his word runs^(HK) swiftly.
¹⁶ He spreads the snow^(HL) like wool
    and scatters the frost^(HM) like ashes.
¹⁷ He hurls down his hail^(HN) like pebbles.
    Who can withstand his icy blast?
¹⁸ He sends his word^(HO) and melts them;
    he stirs up his breezes,^(HP) and the waters flow.

¹⁹ He has revealed his word^(HQ) to Jacob,^(HR)
    his laws and decrees^(HS) to Israel.
²⁰ He has done this for no other nation;^(HT)
    they do not know^(HU) his laws.^[k]

Praise the Lord.^(HV)

Praise the Lord from the heavens;^(HX)
    praise him in the heights above.

3 Praise him, sun^(IA) and moon;

    for at his command^(IE) they were created,

    you great sea creatures^(IH) and all ocean depths,^(II)
8 lightning and hail,^(IJ) snow and clouds,
    stormy winds that do his bidding,^(IK)
9 you mountains and all hills,^(IL)
    fruit trees and all cedars,
¹⁰ wild animals^(IM) and all cattle,
    small creatures and flying birds,
¹¹ kings^(IN) of the earth and all nations,
    you princes and all rulers on earth,
¹² young men and women,
    old men and children.

¹³ Let them praise the name of the Lord,^(IO)
    for his name alone is exalted;
    his splendor^(IP) is above the earth and the heavens.^(IQ)
14 And he has raised up for his people a horn,^[m](IR)
    the praise^(IS) of all his faithful servants,^(IT)
    of Israel, the people close to his heart.^(IU)

Praise the Lord.

Sing to the Lord a new song,^(IW)
    his praise in the assembly^(IX) of his faithful people.

² Let Israel rejoice^(IY) in their Maker;^(IZ)
    let the people of Zion be glad in their King.^(JA)
3 Let them praise his name with dancing^(JB)
    and make music to him with timbrel and harp.^(JC)
4 For the Lord takes delight^(JD) in his people;
    he crowns the humble with victory.^(JE)
5 Let his faithful people rejoice^(JF) in this honor
    and sing for joy on their beds.^(JG)

⁶ May the praise of God be in their mouths^(JH)
    and a double-edged^(JI) sword in their hands,^(JJ)
7 to inflict vengeance^(JK) on the nations
    and punishment^(JL) on the peoples,
⁸ to bind their kings with fetters,^(JM)
    their nobles with shackles of iron,^(JN)
9 to carry out the sentence written against them—^(JO)
    this is the glory of all his faithful people.^(JP)

Praise the Lord.

Praise God in his sanctuary;^(JR)
    praise him in his mighty heavens.^(JS)
2 Praise him for his acts of power;^(JT)
    praise him for his surpassing greatness.^(JU)
3 Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet,^(JV)
    praise him with the harp and lyre,^(JW)
4 praise him with timbrel and dancing,^(JX)
    praise him with the strings^(JY) and pipe,^(JZ)
5 praise him with the clash of cymbals,^(KA)
    praise him with resounding cymbals.

⁶ Let everything^(KB) that has breath praise the Lord.
