(2 Sam 22,1-51)
Voditelju zbora. Davidova pjesma. BOŽJI sluga David ispjevao je ovu pjesmu BOGU kad ga je BOG oslobodio od Šaula i svih drugih neprijatelja.
18 Volim te, BOŽE, snago moja!
2 BOG je moja stijena,
moja tvrđava i moj spasitelj.
Bog mi je kao stijena,
na koju se sklanjam.
On je moj štit,
svojom snagom[a] me spašava,
moja utvrda neosvojiva.
3 Zazvao sam BOGA, koji je vrijedan slavljenja,
on me spasio od neprijatelja.
4 Konopi smrti zapleli su se oko mene,
bujice uništenja[b] su me odnosile.
5 Zaplela me užad smrti,
pojavile se zamke ubojite.
6 U nevolji sam BOGU zavapio,
u pomoć sam ga pozvao.
U hramu svome glas mi je čuo,
moj plač mu je dopro do ušiju.
7 Tad se zemlja stresla i poljuljala,
uzdrmali se temelji planina,
drhtali su od njegovog bijesa.
8 Iz nosa mu je nadirao dim,
iz usta je rigao vatru,
od njega je prskao žar.
9 Razdvojio je nebo i sišao,
stajao je na tamnom oblaku.
10 Uzjahao je krilato biće[c] i uzletio,
vinuo se na krilima vjetra.
11 Tminu je učinio svojim šatorom,
okružio se tamnim oblacima punima vode.
12 Iz sjaja, koji je išao pred njim,
kroz oblake se probila tuča i žar.
13 BOG grmi s nebesa,
Svevišnjega ori se glas.[d]
14 Strijele odapinje, razgoni neprijatelje,
munjama ih tjera da besciljno bježe.
15 BOŽE, povikao si prijetnje,
u srdžbi si dahnuo,
otkrila su se morska dna,
i pokazali se temelji zemlje.
16 Odozgo je posegnuo i zgrabio me,
izvukao me iz vode duboke.
17 Spasio me od moćnih neprijatelja,
od svih koji su me mrzili
i bili jači od mene.
18 Napali su me u vrijeme nevolje,
ali BOG mi je bio uporište.
19 Izveo me na siguran prostor,
spasio me jer sam mu drag.
20 BOG me nagradio zbog moje pravednosti,
uzvratio mi je po mojoj nevinosti.
21 Jer, u svemu sam slijedio BOGA,
nisam se okrenuo zlu.
22 Poštovao sam sve njegove zakone,
nisam odstupao od njegovih propisa.
23 Besprijekoran sam pred njim bio,
svakoga grijeha sam se čuvao.
24 BOG me nagradio
jer sam činio što je ispravno.
Moju je nevinost uvidio.
25 Vjernima pokazuješ da si vjeran
i dobrima da si dobar.
26 S dobronamjernima si dobronamjeran,
a zlonamjerne nadmudruješ.[e]
27 Ponizne spašavaš,
ohole ponižavaš.
28 BOŽE, ti moju svjetiljku pališ,
moju tamu obasjavaš.
29 Uz tvoju pomoć vojsku nadvladavam,
sa svojim Bogom zidine neprijatelja osvajam.
30 Bog je savršen u svojim djelima,
BOG ispunjava svoja obećanja.
On je zaštita svakome
tko se k njemu sklanja.
31 Jer, nema drugog BOGA osim ovoga.
I nema Stijene osim našeg Boga.
32 Bog mi daje snagu,
pruža mi savršen put.
33 Noge mi ojačava kao u jelena,
čvrsto stojim na visinama.
34 Ruke mi za rat priprema,
napinjem i najčvršći lûk.
35 Zaštitio si me svojim spasenjem,
tvoja me desna ruka podržava,
tvoja me pomoć uzvisuje.
36 Širok put preda mnom si raskrčio
da se ne bih spotaknuo.
37 Svoje neprijatelje sam progonio i stigao,
nisam stao dok ih nisam dokrajčio.
38 Skršio sam ih da ne mogu ustati,
leže mi pod nogama.
39 Opremio si me snagom za bitku,
pokorio si moje protivnike.
40 Zbog tebe bježe moji neprijatelji,
uništeni su moji mrzitelji.
41 Zvali su u pomoć, nitko ih nije spasio.
BOGU su vapili, nije im se odazvao.
42 Kršim ih dok ne postanu kao prašina na vjetru,
gazim ih kao blato na putu.
43 Spasio si me od mojih protivnika,
učinio vladarom mnogih naroda.
Služe mi oni koje nisam poznavao.
44 Čim su čuli za mene, pokorili su mi se.
Stranci dolaze i klanjaju se.
45 Nestaje sva srčanost njihova,
drhte izlazeći iz skrovišta.
46 BOG je živ!
Blagoslovljena moja Stijena!
Uzvišen je Bog koji me spašava!
47 On je Bog koji mi daje osvetu
i za mene pokorava narode.
48 Spasio me od neprijatelja,
uzvisio nad protivnicima,
izbavio od nasilnika!
49 Zato te, BOŽE, slavim među narodima
i pjevam hvalospjeve tvome imenu!
50 Velike pobjede Bog daje svom kralju.
Svoju vjernost i ljubav zauvijek pokazuje
svom izabraniku[f] Davidu i njegovom potomstvu.

King James Version
18 I will love thee, O Lord, my strength.
2 The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.
3 I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies.
4 The sorrows of death compassed me, and the floods of ungodly men made me afraid.
5 The sorrows of hell compassed me about: the snares of death prevented me.
6 In my distress I called upon the Lord, and cried unto my God: he heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry came before him, even into his ears.
7 Then the earth shook and trembled; the foundations also of the hills moved and were shaken, because he was wroth.
8 There went up a smoke out of his nostrils, and fire out of his mouth devoured: coals were kindled by it.
9 He bowed the heavens also, and came down: and darkness was under his feet.
10 And he rode upon a cherub, and did fly: yea, he did fly upon the wings of the wind.
11 He made darkness his secret place; his pavilion round about him were dark waters and thick clouds of the skies.
12 At the brightness that was before him his thick clouds passed, hail stones and coals of fire.
13 The Lord also thundered in the heavens, and the Highest gave his voice; hail stones and coals of fire.
14 Yea, he sent out his arrows, and scattered them; and he shot out lightnings, and discomfited them.
15 Then the channels of waters were seen, and the foundations of the world were discovered at thy rebuke, O Lord, at the blast of the breath of thy nostrils.
16 He sent from above, he took me, he drew me out of many waters.
17 He delivered me from my strong enemy, and from them which hated me: for they were too strong for me.
18 They prevented me in the day of my calamity: but the Lord was my stay.
19 He brought me forth also into a large place; he delivered me, because he delighted in me.
20 The Lord rewarded me according to my righteousness; according to the cleanness of my hands hath he recompensed me.
21 For I have kept the ways of the Lord, and have not wickedly departed from my God.
22 For all his judgments were before me, and I did not put away his statutes from me.
23 I was also upright before him, and I kept myself from mine iniquity.
24 Therefore hath the Lord recompensed me according to my righteousness, according to the cleanness of my hands in his eyesight.
25 With the merciful thou wilt shew thyself merciful; with an upright man thou wilt shew thyself upright;
26 With the pure thou wilt shew thyself pure; and with the froward thou wilt shew thyself froward.
27 For thou wilt save the afflicted people; but wilt bring down high looks.
28 For thou wilt light my candle: the Lord my God will enlighten my darkness.
29 For by thee I have run through a troop; and by my God have I leaped over a wall.
30 As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the Lord is tried: he is a buckler to all those that trust in him.
31 For who is God save the Lord? or who is a rock save our God?
32 It is God that girdeth me with strength, and maketh my way perfect.
33 He maketh my feet like hinds' feet, and setteth me upon my high places.
34 He teacheth my hands to war, so that a bow of steel is broken by mine arms.
35 Thou hast also given me the shield of thy salvation: and thy right hand hath holden me up, and thy gentleness hath made me great.
36 Thou hast enlarged my steps under me, that my feet did not slip.
37 I have pursued mine enemies, and overtaken them: neither did I turn again till they were consumed.
38 I have wounded them that they were not able to rise: they are fallen under my feet.
39 For thou hast girded me with strength unto the battle: thou hast subdued under me those that rose up against me.
40 Thou hast also given me the necks of mine enemies; that I might destroy them that hate me.
41 They cried, but there was none to save them: even unto the Lord, but he answered them not.
42 Then did I beat them small as the dust before the wind: I did cast them out as the dirt in the streets.
43 Thou hast delivered me from the strivings of the people; and thou hast made me the head of the heathen: a people whom I have not known shall serve me.
44 As soon as they hear of me, they shall obey me: the strangers shall submit themselves unto me.
45 The strangers shall fade away, and be afraid out of their close places.
46 The Lord liveth; and blessed be my rock; and let the God of my salvation be exalted.
47 It is God that avengeth me, and subdueth the people under me.
48 He delivereth me from mine enemies: yea, thou liftest me up above those that rise up against me: thou hast delivered me from the violent man.
49 Therefore will I give thanks unto thee, O Lord, among the heathen, and sing praises unto thy name.
50 Great deliverance giveth he to his king; and sheweth mercy to his anointed, to David, and to his seed for evermore.

Psalm 18
To the Chief Musician. [A Psalm] of David the servant of the Lord, who spoke the words of this song to the Lord on the day when the Lord delivered him from the hand of all his enemies and from the hand of Saul. And he said:
1 I love You fervently and devotedly, O Lord, my Strength.
2 The Lord is my Rock, my Fortress, and my Deliverer; my God, my keen and firm Strength in Whom I will trust and take refuge, my Shield, and the Horn of my salvation, my High Tower.(A)
3 I will call upon the Lord, Who is to be praised; so shall I be saved from my enemies.(B)
4 The cords or bands of death surrounded me, and the streams of ungodliness and the torrents of ruin terrified me.
5 The cords of Sheol (the place of the dead) surrounded me; the snares of death confronted and came upon me.
6 In my distress [when seemingly closed in] I called upon the Lord and cried to my God; He heard my voice out of His temple (heavenly dwelling place), and my cry came before Him, into His [very] ears.
7 Then the earth quaked and rocked, the foundations also of the mountains trembled; they moved and were shaken because He was indignant and angry.
8 There went up smoke from His nostrils; and lightning out of His mouth devoured; coals were kindled by it.
9 He bowed the heavens also and came down; and thick darkness was under His feet.
10 And He rode upon a cherub [a storm] and flew [swiftly]; yes, He sped on with the wings of the wind.
11 He made darkness His secret hiding place; as His pavilion (His canopy) round about Him were dark waters and thick clouds of the skies.
12 Out of the brightness before Him there broke forth through His thick clouds hailstones and coals of fire.
13 The Lord also thundered from the heavens, and the Most High uttered His voice, amid hailstones and coals of fire.
14 And He sent out His arrows and scattered them; and He flashed forth lightnings and put them to rout.
15 Then the beds of the sea appeared and the foundations of the world were laid bare at Your rebuke, O Lord, at the blast of the breath of Your nostrils.
16 He reached from on high, He took me; He drew me out of many waters.
17 He delivered me from my strong enemy and from those who hated and abhorred me, for they were too strong for me.
18 They confronted and came upon me in the day of my calamity, but the Lord was my stay and support.
19 He brought me forth also into a large place; He was delivering me because He was pleased with me and delighted in me.
20 The Lord rewarded me according to my righteousness (my conscious integrity and sincerity with Him); according to the cleanness of my hands has He recompensed me.
21 For I have kept the ways of the Lord and have not wickedly departed from my God.
22 For all His ordinances were before me, and I put not away His statutes from me.
23 I was upright before Him and blameless with Him, ever [on guard] to keep myself free from my sin and guilt.
24 Therefore has the Lord recompensed me according to my righteousness (my uprightness and right standing with Him), according to the cleanness of my hands in His sight.
25 With the kind and merciful You will show Yourself kind and merciful, with an upright man You will show Yourself upright,
26 With the pure You will show Yourself pure, and with the perverse You will show Yourself contrary.
27 For You deliver an afflicted and humble people but will bring down those with haughty looks.
28 For You cause my lamp to be lighted and to shine; the Lord my God illumines my darkness.
29 For by You I can run through a troop, and by my God I can leap over a wall.
30 As for God, His way is perfect! The word of the Lord is tested and tried; He is a shield to all those who take refuge and put their trust in Him.
31 For who is God except the Lord? Or who is the Rock save our God,
32 The God who girds me with strength and makes my way perfect?
33 He makes my feet like hinds’ feet [able to stand firmly or make progress on the dangerous heights of testing and trouble]; He sets me securely upon my high places.
34 He teaches my hands to war, so that my arms can bend a bow of bronze.
35 You have also given me the shield of Your salvation, and Your right hand has held me up; Your gentleness and condescension have made me great.
36 You have given plenty of room for my steps under me, that my feet would not slip.
37 I pursued my enemies and overtook them; neither did I turn again till they were consumed.
38 I smote them so that they were not able to rise; they fell wounded under my feet.
39 For You have girded me with strength for the battle; You have subdued under me and caused to bow down those who rose up against me.
40 You have also made my enemies turn their backs to me, that I might cut off those who hate me.
41 They cried [for help], but there was none to deliver—even unto the Lord, but He answered them not.
42 Then I beat them small as the dust before the wind; I emptied them out as the dirt and mire of the streets.
43 You have delivered me from the strivings of the people; You made me the head of the nations; a people I had not known served me.
44 As soon as they heard of me, they obeyed me; foreigners submitted themselves cringingly and yielded feigned obedience to me.
45 Foreigners lost heart and came trembling out of their caves or strongholds.
46 The Lord lives! Blessed be my Rock; and let the God of my salvation be exalted,
47 The God Who avenges me and subdues peoples under me,
48 Who delivers me from my enemies; yes, You lift me up above those who rise up against me; You deliver me from the man of violence.
49 Therefore will I give thanks and extol You, O Lord, among the nations, and sing praises to Your name.(C)
50 Great deliverances and triumphs gives He to His king; and He shows mercy and steadfast love to His anointed, to David and his offspring forever.(D)
