Psalmul 115
1 Nu nouă(A), Doamne, nu nouă, ci Numelui Tău dă slavă
pentru bunătatea Ta, pentru credincioşia Ta!
2 Pentru ce să zică neamurile:
„Unde(B) este Dumnezeul lor?”
3 Dumnezeul(C) nostru este în cer,
El face tot ce vrea.
4 Idolii(D) lor sunt argint şi aur,
făcuţi de mâini omeneşti.
5 Au gură, dar nu vorbesc;
au ochi, dar nu văd;
6 au urechi, dar n-aud;
au nas, dar nu miroase;
7 au mâini, dar nu pipăie;
picioare, dar nu merg;
nu scot niciun sunet din gâtlejul lor.
8 Ca ei sunt cei ce-i(E) fac;
toţi cei ce se încred în ei.
9 Israele(F), încrede-te în Domnul!
El este ajutorul(G) şi scutul lor.
10 Casa lui Aaron, încrede-te în Domnul!
El este ajutorul şi scutul lor.
11 Cei ce vă temeţi de Domnul, încredeţi-vă în Domnul!
El este ajutorul şi scutul lor.
12 Domnul Şi-aduce aminte de noi. El va binecuvânta:
va binecuvânta casa lui Israel,
va binecuvânta casa lui Aaron,
13 va(H) binecuvânta pe cei ce se tem de Domnul,
pe cei mici şi pe cei mari.
14 Domnul să vă înmulţească tot mai mult,
pe voi şi pe copiii voştri!
15 Fiţi binecuvântaţi(I) de Domnul,
care(J) a făcut cerurile şi pământul!
16 Cerurile sunt ale Domnului,
dar pământul l-a dat fiilor oamenilor.
17 Nu(K) morţii laudă pe Domnul
şi nici vreunul din cei ce se pogoară în locul tăcerii,
18 ci(L) noi, noi vom binecuvânta pe Domnul,
de acum şi până în veac.
Lăudaţi pe Domnul!

The Futility of Idols and the Trustworthiness of God
115 Not (A)unto us, O Lord, not unto us,
But to Your name give glory,
Because of Your mercy,
Because of Your truth.
2 Why should the [a]Gentiles say,
(B)“So where is their God?”
3 (C)But our God is in heaven;
He does whatever He pleases.
4 (D)Their idols are silver and gold,
The work of men’s hands.
5 They have mouths, but they do not speak;
Eyes they have, but they do not see;
6 They have ears, but they do not hear;
Noses they have, but they do not smell;
7 They have hands, but they do not handle;
Feet they have, but they do not walk;
Nor do they mutter through their throat.
8 (E)Those who make them are like them;
So is everyone who trusts in them.
9 (F)O Israel, trust in the Lord;
(G)He is their help and their shield.
10 O house of Aaron, trust in the Lord;
He is their help and their shield.
11 You who fear the Lord, trust in the Lord;
He is their help and their shield.
12 The Lord [b]has been mindful of us;
He will bless us;
He will bless the house of Israel;
He will bless the house of Aaron.
13 (H)He will bless those who fear the Lord,
Both small and great.
14 May the Lord give you increase more and more,
You and your children.
15 May you be (I)blessed by the Lord,
(J)Who made heaven and earth.
16 The heaven, even the heavens, are the Lord’s;
But the earth He has given to the children of men.
17 (K)The dead do not praise the Lord,
Nor any who go down into silence.
18 (L)But we will bless the Lord
From this time forth and forevermore.

115 Lord, not to us, Lord, not to us; but give thou glory to thy name. Of thy mercy, and of thy truth; (Lord, not to us, Lord, not to us; but give thou glory to thy name. For thy love, and for the sake of thy faithfulness;)
2 lest any time heathen men say, Where is the God of them? (lest any time the heathen say, Where is their God?)
3 Forsooth our God in heaven; did all things, whichever he would. (For our God is in heaven; and he doeth whatever he desireth.)
4 The simulacra of heathen men be silver and gold (The idols of the heathen be made out of silver and gold); the works of men’s hands.
5 They have mouth(s), and shall not speak; they have eyes, and shall not see. (They have mouths, but they cannot speak; they have eyes, but they cannot see.)
6 They have ears, and shall not hear; they have nostrils, and shall not smell. (They have ears, but they cannot hear; they have nostrils, but they cannot smell.)
7 They have hands, and shall not grope; they have feet, and shall not go; they shall not cry in their throat. (They have hands, but they cannot feel; they have feet, but they cannot move; and they cannot make any sound.)
8 They that make those simulacra be made like those; and all that trust in them. (Let all who make those idols be made like them; and also all who trust in them.)
9 The house of Israel hoped in the Lord (But let the house of Israel trust in the Lord); he is the helper of them, and the defender of them.
10 The house of Aaron hoped in the Lord (And let the house of Aaron trust in the Lord); he is the helper of them, and the defender of them.
11 They that dread the Lord, hoped in the Lord (Let all who fear the Lord/Let all who revere the Lord, trust in the Lord); he is the helper of them, and the defender of them.
12 The Lord was mindful of us; and blessed us. He blessed the house of Israel; he blessed the house of Aaron. (The Lord remembereth us; and will bless us. He will bless the house of Israel; he will bless the house of Aaron.)
13 He blessed all men that dread the Lord; both little and greater. (He will bless all those who fear the Lord/all those who revere the Lord; both small and great alike.)
14 The Lord add, either increase, on you; on you, and on your sons. (May the Lord give you increase; yea, you, and your sons and your daughters.)
15 Blessed be ye of the Lord; that made heaven and earth. (May ye be blessed by the Lord; who made heaven and earth.)
16 Heaven of heaven is to the Lord/Heaven of heavens to the Lord; but he gave the earth to the sons of men. (Heaven and the heavens be the Lord’s; but he gave the earth to the sons and daughters of men.)
17 Lord, not dead men shall praise thee; neither all men that go down into hell. (Lord, the dead shall not praise thee; yea, none who go down into Sheol, or the land of the dead/none who go down into the grave.)
18 But we that live, bless the Lord; from this time now, and till into the world. (But we who live, bless the Lord; from this time now, and forever.)

but to your name be the glory,(B)
because of your love and faithfulness.(C)
2 Why do the nations say,
“Where is their God?”(D)
3 Our God is in heaven;(E)

made by human hands.(H)
5 They have mouths, but cannot speak,(I)
eyes, but cannot see.
6 They have ears, but cannot hear,
noses, but cannot smell.

nor can they utter a sound with their throats.
8 Those who make them will be like them,
and so will all who trust in them.
9 All you Israelites, trust(J) in the Lord—
he is their help and shield.
10 House of Aaron,(K) trust in the Lord—
he is their help and shield.
11 You who fear him,(L) trust in the Lord—
he is their help and shield.

He will bless his people Israel,
