²Exaudi, Deus, deprecationem meam; intende orationi meae.

³A finibus terrae ad te clamavi, dum anxiaretur cor meum; in petra exaltasti me. Deduxisti me,

⁴quia factus es spes mea: turris fortitudinis a facie inimici.

⁵Inhabitabo in tabernaculo tuo in saecula; protegar in velamento alarum tuarum.

⁶Quoniam tu, Deus meus, exaudisti orationem meam; dedisti haereditatem timentibus nomen tuum.

⁷Dies super dies regis adjicies; annos ejus usque in diem generationis et generationis.

⁸Permanet in aeternum in conspectu Dei: misericordiam et veritatem ejus quis requiret?

⁹Sic psalmum dicam nomini tuo in saeculum saeculi, ut reddam vota mea de die in diem.

²Nonne Deo subjecta erit anima mea? ab ipso enim salutare meum.

³Nam et ipse Deus meus et salutaris meus; susceptor meus, non movebor amplius.

⁴Quousque irruitis in hominem? interficitis universi vos, tamquam parieti inclinato et maceriae depulsae.

⁵Verumtamen pretium meum cogitaverunt repellere; cucurri in siti: ore suo benedicebant, et corde suo maledicebant.

⁶Verumtamen Deo subjecta esto, anima mea, quoniam ab ipso patientia mea:

⁷quia ipse Deus meus et salvator meus, adjutor meus, non emigrabo.

⁸In Deo salutare meum et gloria mea; Deus auxilii mei, et spes mea in Deo est.

⁹Sperate in eo, omnis congregatio populi; effundite coram illo corda vestra: Deus adjutor noster in aeternum.

¹⁰Verumtamen vani filii hominum, mendaces filii hominum in stateris, ut decipiant ipsi de vanitate in idipsum.

¹¹Nolite sperare in iniquitate, et rapinas nolite concupiscere; divitiae si affluant, nolite cor apponere.

¹²Semel locutus est Deus; duo haec audivi: quia potestas Dei est,

¹³et tibi, Domine, misericordia: quia tu reddes unicuique juxta opera sua.

For the director of music. To the tune of “The Lily of the Covenant.” A miktam^[b] of David. For teaching. When he fought Aram Naharaim^[c] and Aram Zobah,^[d] and when Joab returned and struck down twelve thousand Edomites in the Valley of Salt.^(B)

¹You have rejected us,^(C) God, and burst upon us;
    you have been angry^(D)—now restore us!^(E)
²You have shaken the land^(F) and torn it open;
    mend its fractures,^(G) for it is quaking.
³You have shown your people desperate times;^(H)
    you have given us wine that makes us stagger.^(I)
⁴But for those who fear you, you have raised a banner^(J)
    to be unfurled against the bow.^[e]

⁵Save us and help us with your right hand,^(K)
    that those you love^(L) may be delivered.
⁶God has spoken from his sanctuary:
    “In triumph I will parcel out Shechem^(M)
    and measure off the Valley of Sukkoth.^(N)
⁷Gilead^(O) is mine, and Manasseh is mine;
    Ephraim^(P) is my helmet,
    Judah^(Q) is my scepter.^(R)
⁸Moab is my washbasin,
    on Edom I toss my sandal;
    over Philistia I shout in triumph.^(S)”

⁹Who will bring me to the fortified city?
    Who will lead me to Edom?
¹⁰Is it not you, God, you who have now rejected us
    and no longer go out with our armies?^(T)
¹¹Give us aid against the enemy,
    for human help is worthless.^(U)
¹²With God we will gain the victory,
    and he will trample down our enemies.^(V)

¹Hear my cry, O God;^(W)
listen to my prayer.^(X)

²From the ends of the earth I call to you,
    I call as my heart grows faint;^(Y)
    lead me to the rock^(Z) that is higher than I.
³For you have been my refuge,^(AA)
    a strong tower against the foe.^(AB)

⁴I long to dwell^(AC) in your tent forever
and take refuge in the shelter of your wings.^[g]^(AD)
⁵For you, God, have heard my vows;^(AE)
you have given me the heritage of those who fear your name.^(AF)

⁶Increase the days of the king’s life,^(AG)
his years for many generations.^(AH)
⁷May he be enthroned in God’s presence forever;^(AI)
appoint your love and faithfulness to protect him.^(AJ)

⁸Then I will ever sing in praise of your name^(AK)
and fulfill my vows day after day.^(AL)
