Psalm 97
1 Der Herr regiert als König;
es frohlocke die Erde,
die vielen Länder[a] sollen sich freuen!
2 Wolken und Dunkel sind um ihn her,
Gerechtigkeit und Recht sind die Grundfeste seines Thrones.
3 Feuer geht vor ihm her
und verbrennt seine Feinde ringsum.
4 Seine Blitze erleuchten den Erdkreis;
die Erde sieht es und erschrickt.
5 Die Berge zerschmelzen wie Wachs vor dem Herrn,
vor dem Herrscher der ganzen Erde.
6 Die Himmel verkünden seine Gerechtigkeit,
und alle Völker sehen seine Herrlichkeit.
7 Schämen müssen sich alle, die den Götzenbildern dienen
und sich wegen der nichtigen Götzen[b] rühmen;
vor Ihm werfen sich alle Götter[c] nieder.
8 Zion hört es und ist froh;
und die Töchter Judas frohlocken
um deiner Gerichte willen, o Herr.
9 Denn du, Herr, bist der Höchste über die ganze Erde;
du bist hoch erhaben über alle Götter.
10 Die ihr den Herrn liebt, hasst das Böse!
Er bewahrt die Seelen seiner Getreuen
und rettet sie aus der Hand der Gottlosen.
11 Licht wird dem Gerechten gesät
und Freude den von Herzen Aufrichtigen.
12 Freut euch an dem Herrn, ihr Gerechten,
und preist seinen heiligen Namen!

97 Der HERR ist König; des freue sich das Erdreich und seien fröhlich die Inseln, soviel ihrer sind.
2 Wolken und Dunkel ist um ihn her; Gerechtigkeit und Gericht ist seines Stuhles Festung.
3 Feuer geht vor ihm her und zündet an umher seine Feinde.
4 Seine Blitze leuchten auf den Erdboden; das Erdreich siehet's und erschrickt.
5 Die Berge zerschmelzen wie Wachs vor dem HERRN, vor dem Herrscher des ganzen Erdbodens.
6 Die Himmel verkündigen seine Gerechtigkeit, und alle Völker sehen seine Ehre.
7 Schämen müssen sich alle, die den Bildern dienen und sich der Götzen rühmen. Betet ihn an, alle Götter!
8 Zion hört es und ist froh; und die Töchter Juda's sind fröhlich, HERR, über dein Regiment.
9 Denn du, HERR, bist der Höchste in allen Landen; du bist hoch erhöht über alle Götter.
10 Die ihr den HERRN liebet, hasset das Arge! Der HERR bewahret die Seelen seiner Heiligen; von der Gottlosen Hand wird er sie erretten.
11 Dem Gerechten muß das Licht immer wieder aufgehen und Freude den frommen Herzen.
12 Ihr Gerechten freuet euch des HERRN und danket ihm und preiset seine Heiligkeit!

97 (A)The Lord [a]reigns, may the (B)earth rejoice;
May the many [b](C)islands be joyful.
2 (D)Clouds and thick darkness surround Him;
(E)Righteousness and justice are the foundation of His throne.
3 (F)Fire goes before Him
And (G)burns up His enemies all around.
4 His (H)lightning lit up the world;
The earth saw it and (I)trembled.
5 The mountains (J)melted like wax at the presence of the Lord,
At the presence of the (K)Lord of the whole earth.
6 The (L)heavens declare His righteousness,
And (M)all the peoples have seen His glory.
7 May all those be ashamed who serve (N)carved images,
Who boast in (O)idols;
[c](P)Worship Him, all you [d]gods.
8 Zion [e]heard this and (Q)was joyful,
And the daughters of Judah have rejoiced
Because of Your judgments, Lord.
9 For You are the Lord (R)Most High over all the earth;
You are exalted far (S)above all [f]gods.
10 (T)Hate evil, you who love the Lord,
Who (U)watches over the souls of His godly ones;
He (V)saves them from the hand of the wicked.
11 (W)Light is sown like seed for the righteous,
And (X)gladness for the upright in heart.
12 Be (Y)joyful in the Lord, you righteous ones,
And (Z)praise [g]the mention of His holy name.

let the distant shores(C) rejoice.
2 Clouds(D) and thick darkness(E) surround him;
righteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne.(F)

and consumes(I) his foes on every side.
4 His lightning(J) lights up the world;
the earth(K) sees and trembles.(L)

before the Lord of all the earth.(O)
