Psalm 74
1 Een lied van Asaf, om iets van te leren.
God, waarom laat U ons nog steeds in de steek?
Waarom blijft U aldoor boos op ons?
We zijn toch uw schapen?
2 Vergeet uw volk alstublieft niet.
U heeft ons lang geleden Zelf uitgekozen.
U heeft ons uit Egypte bevrijd om uw eigendom te worden.
Vergeet alstublieft niet de berg Sion,
die U zelf heeft uitgekozen om er te wonen.
3 Kom terug naar uw heiligdom dat al zo lang in puin ligt.
Onze vijanden hebben alles vernield.
4 Ze gingen tekeer in uw heiligdom.
Ze hebben er de vlag van hun leger neergezet![a]
5 Ze hebben er met bijlen op los gehakt
alsof ze bomen omhakten.
6 Met bijlen en houwelen
sloegen ze al het houtsnijwerk kapot.
7 Ze hebben uw heiligdom in brand gestoken.
Ze hebben het huis waar U woont met de grond gelijkgemaakt.
8 Ze zeiden: "We zullen ze helemaal vernietigen!"
Ze hebben alle heilige plaatsen in het hele land verbrand.
9 Verdwenen zijn de voorwerpen voor de aanbidding van God.
Verdwenen zijn de profeten.
Niemand weet hoelang dit nog zal duren.
10 God, hoelang zullen onze vijanden nog over ons lachen?
Hoelang zullen ze U nog belachelijk maken?
11 Waarom doet U niets?
Doe toch iets en vernietig hen!
12 Toch bent U altijd onze Koning geweest.
U heeft steeds op aarde redding gebracht.
13 U spleet de zee in tweeën met uw kracht.
U verpletterde de koppen van de zeemonsters.
14 U heeft de koppen van de leviatan[b] verpletterd,
U gaf hem aan de woestijnbewoners te eten.
15 U liet bronnen en beken ontstaan.
Rivieren liet U opdrogen.
16 U maakte de dag, U maakte de nacht.
De zon en de maan kregen van U hun plaats.
17 U heeft de grenzen van de aarde bepaald.
Zomer en winter zijn door U gemaakt.
18 Vergeet niet, Heer, dat onze vijanden om U lachen.
Een volk van dwazen beledigt U.
19 Gooi uw volk, uw lieve duifje, toch niet voor de wilde dieren!
Heb alstublieft medelijden met uw arme volk!
20 Denk alstublieft aan uw verbond!
Want overal in het land heerst geweld.
21 Stuur de mensen in nood niet teleurgesteld weg
als ze bij U om hulp komen.
Zorg er alstublieft voor dat ze U zullen prijzen.
22 Kom, God! Kom alstublieft voor Uzelf op!
Vergeet niet dat die dwazen U de hele dag beledigen.
23 Hoor hoe uw vijanden tegen U schreeuwen.
Ze gaan tegen U tekeer.
Hun geraas stijgt aldoor op naar de hemel.

- Psalmen 74:4 Nadat eerst het noordelijk deel van Israël was veroverd, werd ook het zuidelijk deel van Israël, het koninkrijk Juda, veroverd door de koning van Babel. Hij verwoestte Jeruzalem en roofde de tempel leeg. Als teken van overwinning zette hij zijn vlag daar neer. Lees 2 Koningen 25:8-15.
- Psalmen 74:14 Het is niet duidelijk welk dier er met de 'leviatan' bedoeld wordt. Wel is duidelijk dat dit dier werd gebruikt als symbool van het kwaad.

祈求上帝眷顾祂的子民
亚萨的训诲诗。
74 上帝啊，
你为何永远丢弃了我们？
你为何对自己草场上的羊大发雷霆？
2 求你眷顾你在古时所救赎的子民，
你拣选为产业的族类，
求你眷顾你所居住的锡安山。
3 求你前去观看那久已荒凉之地，
看看敌人对圣所的破坏。
4 他们在你圣所中高声叫嚷，
竖立起自己的旗帜。
5 他们大肆毁坏，
好像人抡起斧头砍伐树林。
6 他们用斧头、锤子把雕刻的墙板都捣毁了。
7 他们纵火焚烧你的圣所，
把它夷为平地，
亵渎了你的居所。
8 他们心里说：“我们要彻底毁灭一切。”
于是他们烧毁了境内所有敬拜上帝的地方。
9 我们再也看不到你的征兆，
先知也没有了。
无人知道这一切何时才会结束。
10 上帝啊，
仇敌嘲笑你的名要到何时呢？
他们要永无休止地辱骂你吗？
11 你为何不伸出大能的右手？
求你出手给他们致命的一击。
12 上帝啊，
你自古以来就是我的王，
你给世上带来拯救。
13 你曾用大能分开海水，
打碎水中巨兽的头。
14 你曾打碎海怪的头，
把它丢给旷野的禽兽吃。
15 你曾开辟泉源和溪流，
也曾使滔滔河水枯干。
16 白昼和黑夜都属于你，
你设立了日月。
17 你划定大地的疆界，
又创造了盛夏和寒冬。
18 耶和华啊，
求你记住敌人对你的嘲笑和愚妄人对你的亵渎。
19 求你不要把你的子民交给仇敌[a]，
不要永远对你受苦的子民弃置不顾。
20 求你顾念你的应许，
因地上黑暗之处充满了暴力。
21 求你不要让受压迫的人羞愧而去。
愿贫穷困苦的人赞美你的名。
22 上帝啊，求你起来维护自己，
别忘记愚妄人怎样整天嘲笑你。
23 不要对你仇敌的喧嚷置之不理，
与你为敌的人不停地叫嚣。

3 求你前去觀看那久已荒涼之地，
看看敵人對聖所的破壞。
4 他們在你聖所中高聲叫嚷，
豎立起自己的旗幟。
5 他們大肆毀壞，
好像人掄起斧頭砍伐樹林。
6 他們用斧頭、錘子把雕刻的牆板都搗毀了。
7 他們縱火焚燒你的聖所，
把它夷為平地，
褻瀆了你的居所。
8 他們心裡說：「我們要徹底毀滅一切。」
於是他們燒毀了境內所有敬拜上帝的地方。
9 我們再也看不到你的徵兆，
先知也沒有了。
無人知道這一切何時才會結束。
10 上帝啊，
仇敵嘲笑你的名要到何時呢？
他們要永無休止地辱罵你嗎？
11 你為何不伸出大能的右手？
求你出手給他們致命的一擊。
12 上帝啊，
你自古以來就是我的王，
你給世上帶來拯救。
13 你曾用大能分開海水，

A complaint over the devastation of the land by the enemy.
Maschil of Asaph.
74 O God, why hast thou cast us off for ever?
Why doth thine anger smoke against the sheep of thy pasture?
2 Remember thy congregation, which thou hast gotten of old,
Which thou hast redeemed to be the tribe of thine inheritance;
And mount Zion, wherein thou hast dwelt.
3 Lift up thy feet unto the perpetual ruins,
[a]All the evil that the enemy hath done in the sanctuary.
4 Thine adversaries have roared in the midst of thine assembly;
They have set up their ensigns for signs.
5 They [b]seemed as men that lifted up
Axes upon a thicket of trees.
6 And now all the carved work thereof
They break down with hatchet and hammers.
7 They have set thy sanctuary on fire;
They have profaned the dwelling-place of thy name by casting it to the ground.
8 They said in their heart, Let us make havoc of them altogether:
They have burned up all the [c]synagogues of God in the land.
9 We see not our signs:
There is no more any prophet;
Neither is there among us any that knoweth how long.
10 How long, O God, shall the adversary reproach?
Shall the enemy blaspheme thy name for ever?
11 Why drawest thou back thy hand, even thy right hand?
Pluck it out of thy bosom and consume them.
12 Yet God is my King of old,
Working salvation in the midst of the earth.
13 Thou didst [d]divide the sea by thy strength:
Thou brakest the heads of the sea-monsters in the waters.
14 Thou brakest the heads of leviathan in pieces;
Thou gavest him to be food to the people inhabiting the wilderness.
15 Thou didst cleave fountain and flood:
Thou driedst up [e]mighty rivers.
16 The day is thine, the night also is thine:
Thou hast prepared the [f]light and the sun.
17 Thou hast set all the borders of the earth:
Thou hast made summer and winter.
18 Remember this, that the enemy [g]hath reproached, O Jehovah,
And that a foolish people hath blasphemed thy name.
19 Oh deliver not [h]the soul of thy turtle-dove unto the wild beast:
Forget not the [i]life of thy poor for ever.
20 Have respect unto the covenant;
For the dark places of the [j]earth are full of the habitations of violence.
21 Oh let not the oppressed return ashamed:
Let the poor and needy praise thy name.
22 Arise, O God, plead thine own cause:
Remember how the foolish man reproacheth thee all the day.
23 Forget not the voice of thine adversaries:
The tumult of those that rise up against thee [k]ascendeth continually.
