6 Een psalm van David voor de koordirigent. Te begeleiden met snarenspel en te zingen op de wijs van ‘De Achtste.’
2 O Here, nee, straf mij niet
in het vuur van uw toorn!
3 Heb medelijden met mij, Here,
want ik ben maar een zwak mens.
Genees mij,
want mijn lichaam is ziek
4 en mijn geest verward.
Laat mij toch snel weer tot mijzelf komen!
5 Kom, Here, red mijn ziel,
red mij door uw goedheid.
6 Want doden kunnen u geen eer bewijzen
en in het dodenrijk kan niemand U loven.
7 Het verdriet put mij uit,
elke nacht wordt mijn kussen nat van de vele tranen.
8 Mijn ogen staan dof
en mijn blik is duister
omwille van mijn vijanden.
9 Verdwijn uit mijn ogen, zondaars,
want de Here heeft mijn tranen gezien
10 en mijn smeken gehoord.
Hij zal mijn gebeden beantwoorden.
11 Al mijn vijanden zullen voor schut staan,
onverwachts in verwarring raken
en beschaamd de aftocht blazen.

1 Lord, do not rebuke me in your anger(A)
or discipline me in your wrath.
2 Have mercy on me,(B) Lord, for I am faint;(C)
heal me,(D) Lord, for my bones are in agony.(E)
3 My soul is in deep anguish.(F)
How long,(G) Lord, how long?
4 Turn,(H) Lord, and deliver me;
save me because of your unfailing love.(I)
5 Among the dead no one proclaims your name.

6 Ó Senhor, não me repreendas em tua ira,
nem me disciplines em tua fúria.
2 Tem compaixão de mim, Senhor, pois estou fraco;
cura-me, Senhor, pois meus ossos agonizam.
3 Meu coração está muito angustiado;
Senhor, quando virás me restaurar?
4 Volta-te, Senhor, e livra-me!
Salva-me por causa do teu amor.
5 Pois os mortos não se lembram de ti;
quem te louvará da sepultura?[b]
6 Estou exausto de tanto gemer;
à noite inundo a cama de tanto chorar,
e de lágrimas a encharco.
7 A tristeza me embaça a vista;
meus olhos estão cansados por causa de todos os meus inimigos.
8 Afastem-se de mim, todos vocês que praticam o mal,
pois o Senhor ouviu meu pranto.
9 O Senhor ouviu minha súplica;
o Senhor responderá à minha oração.
10 Sejam humilhados e aterrorizados todos os meus inimigos;
recuem de repente, envergonhados.

6 O Lord, rebuke me not in thine anger, neither chasten me in thy hot displeasure.
2 Have mercy upon me, O Lord; for I am weak: O Lord, heal me; for my bones are vexed.
3 My soul is also sore vexed: but thou, O Lord, how long?
4 Return, O Lord, deliver my soul: oh save me for thy mercies' sake.
5 For in death there is no remembrance of thee: in the grave who shall give thee thanks?
6 I am weary with my groaning; all the night make I my bed to swim; I water my couch with my tears.
7 Mine eye is consumed because of grief; it waxeth old because of all mine enemies.
8 Depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity; for the Lord hath heard the voice of my weeping.
9 The Lord hath heard my supplication; the Lord will receive my prayer.
10 Let all mine enemies be ashamed and sore vexed: let them return and be ashamed suddenly.
