Psalmen 5
Schlachter 2000
Psalm 5
1 Dem Vorsänger. Mit Flötenspiel. Ein Psalm Davids.
2 Vernimm, o Herr, meine Worte;
achte auf mein Seufzen!
3 Höre auf die Stimme meines Schreiens,
mein König und mein Gott;
denn zu dir will ich beten!
4 Herr, in der Frühe[a] wirst du meine Stimme hören;
in der Frühe werde ich dir zu Befehl sein[b] und Ausschau halten.
5 Denn du bist nicht ein Gott, dem Gesetzlosigkeit gefällt;
wer böse ist, darf nicht bei dir wohnen.
6 Die Prahler bestehen nicht vor deinen Augen;
du hasst alle Übeltäter.
7 Du vertilgst die Lügner;
den Blutgierigen und Falschen
verabscheut der Herr.
8 Ich aber darf durch deine große Gnade
eingehen in dein Haus;
ich will anbeten, zu deinem heiligen Tempel gewandt,
in Ehrfurcht vor dir.[c]
9 Herr, leite mich in deiner Gerechtigkeit
um meiner Feinde willen;
ebne[d] deinen Weg vor mir!
10 Denn in ihrem Mund ist nichts Zuverlässiges;
ihr Inneres ist [voll] Bosheit,
ihr Rachen ein offenes Grab,
mit ihren Zungen heucheln sie.[e]
11 Sprich sie schuldig,[f] o Gott,
lass sie fallen durch ihre Anschläge!
Verstoße sie um ihrer vielen Übertretungen willen,
denn sie haben sich gegen dich empört!
12 Aber alle werden sich freuen, die auf dich vertrauen;
ewiglich werden sie jubeln,
denn du wirst sie beschirmen;
und fröhlich werden sein in dir,
die deinen Namen lieben!
13 Denn du, Herr, segnest den Gerechten;
du umgibst ihn mit Gnade wie mit einem Schild.

A Morning Prayer for Protection
For the director of music. For flutes. A song of David.
5 Lord, listen to my words.
Understand what I am thinking.
2 Listen to my cry for help.
My king and my God, I pray to you.
3 Lord, every morning you hear my voice.
Every morning, I tell you what I need.
And I wait for your answer.
4 You are not a God who is pleased with what is wicked.
You do not live with those who do evil.
5 Those people who make fun of you cannot stand before you.
You hate all those who do wrong.
6 You destroy liars.
The Lord hates those who kill and trick others.
7 Because of your great love,
I can come into your Temple.
Because I fear and respect you,
I can worship in your holy Temple.
8 Lord, since I have many enemies,
show me the right thing to do.
Show me clearly how you want me to live.
9 With their mouths my enemies do not tell the truth.
In their hearts they want to destroy people.
Their throats are like open graves.
They use their tongues for telling lies.
10 God, declare them guilty!
Let them fall into their own traps.
Send them away because their sins are many.
They have turned against you.
11 But let everyone who trusts you be happy.
Let them sing glad songs forever.
Protect those who love you.
They are happy because of you.
12 Lord, you bless those who do what is right.
You protect them like a soldier’s shield.
Psalm 5
American Standard Version
Prayer for protection from the wicked.
For the Chief Musician; with the [a]Nehiloth. A Psalm of David.
5 Give ear to my words, O Jehovah,
Consider my meditation.
2 Hearken unto the voice of my cry, my King, and my God;
For unto thee do I pray.
3 O Jehovah, in the morning shalt thou hear my voice;
In the morning will I order my prayer unto thee, and will keep watch.
4 For thou art not a God that hath pleasure in wickedness:
[b]Evil shall not sojourn with thee.
5 [c]The arrogant shall not stand in thy sight:
Thou hatest all workers of iniquity.
6 Thou wilt destroy them that speak lies:
Jehovah abhorreth the blood-thirsty and deceitful man.
7 But as for me, in the abundance of thy lovingkindness will I come into thy house:
In thy fear will I worship toward thy holy temple.
8 Lead me, O Jehovah, in thy righteousness because of [d]mine enemies;
Make thy way [e]straight before my face.
9 For there is no [f]faithfulness in their mouth;
Their inward part is [g]very wickedness;
Their throat is an open sepulchre;
They [h]flatter with their tongue.
10 Hold them guilty, O God;
Let them fall [i]by their own counsels;
Thrust them out in the multitude of their transgressions;
For they have rebelled against thee.
11 [j]But let all those that take refuge in thee rejoice,
Let them ever shout for joy, because thou defendest them:
Let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee.
12 For thou wilt bless the righteous;
O Jehovah, thou wilt compass him with favor as with a shield.
