Psalm 25
1 Een lied van David.
Heer, ik kom bij U!
Ik vertrouw op U.
2 Mijn God, stel mij niet teleur!
Zorg dat mijn vijanden geen plezier over mij zullen hebben.
3 Mensen die op U vertrouwen, zult U nooit teleurstellen.
Maar met mensen die niet met U willen omgaan,
zal het slecht aflopen.
4 Heer, laat me weten wat U met mij van plan bent.
Vertel me wat ik moet doen.
5 Leid mij en help me het goede te doen.
Want U bent de God die mij redt.
Ik vertrouw de hele dag op U.
6 Denk toch aan wat U in uw liefde allemaal al heeft gedaan.
U bent altijd vol liefde geweest.
7 Denk daarom niet meer aan de dingen die ik verkeerd heb gedaan,
aan de keren dat ik ongehoorzaam aan U was toen ik nog jong was.
Want U houdt immers van mij, Heer.
8 De Heer is goed en rechtvaardig.
Daarom leert Hij ongehoorzame mensen hoe ze moeten leven.
9 Nederige mensen helpt Hij te leven zoals Hij het wil.
Hij vertelt hun wat Hij van hen vraagt.
10 De Heer is trouw en goed voor de mensen
die zich houden aan zijn verbond en zijn wetten.
11 Heer, omdat U zo goed bent, vraag ik U:
vergeef me wat ik verkeerd heb gedaan, hoe erg het ook was.
12 Als iemand diep ontzag heeft voor de Heer,
zal Hij hem steeds helpen om de juiste beslissingen te nemen.
13 Het zal in alles goed gaan
met hem en met zijn familie ná hem.
14 De Heer gaat als een vriend om
met mensen die ontzag voor Hem hebben.
Hij leert hen wat zijn verbond met hen inhoudt.
15 Ik vertrouw altijd op de Heer,
want Hij redt mij van elke vijand.
16 Help me nu, Heer, heb medelijden met mij,
want ik voel me eenzaam en ellendig.
17 Mijn problemen worden steeds groter.
Red me alstublieft uit mijn moeilijkheden.
18 Kijk toch hoe moeilijk ik het heb en hoeveel problemen er zijn.
Vergeef me alles waarin ik U ongehoorzaam ben geweest.
19 Kijk toch hoeveel vijanden ik heb: het worden er steeds meer!
En kijk eens hoe vreselijk ze mij haten!
20 Red mijn leven alstublieft, Heer, red mij.
Stel me niet teleur, want ik vertrouw op U.
21 Laten mijn eerlijkheid en mijn geloof mij beschermen,
want ik vertrouw op U.
22 Heer, red Israël uit alle moeilijkheden.

25 Unto thee, O Lord, do I lift up my soul.
2 O my God, I trust in thee: let me not be ashamed, let not mine enemies triumph over me.
3 Yea, let none that wait on thee be ashamed: let them be ashamed which transgress without cause.
4 Shew me thy ways, O Lord; teach me thy paths.
5 Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day.
6 Remember, O Lord, thy tender mercies and thy lovingkindnesses; for they have been ever of old.
7 Remember not the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions: according to thy mercy remember thou me for thy goodness' sake, O Lord.
8 Good and upright is the Lord: therefore will he teach sinners in the way.
9 The meek will he guide in judgment: and the meek will he teach his way.
10 All the paths of the Lord are mercy and truth unto such as keep his covenant and his testimonies.
11 For thy name's sake, O Lord, pardon mine iniquity; for it is great.
12 What man is he that feareth the Lord? him shall he teach in the way that he shall choose.
13 His soul shall dwell at ease; and his seed shall inherit the earth.
14 The secret of the Lord is with them that fear him; and he will shew them his covenant.
15 Mine eyes are ever toward the Lord; for he shall pluck my feet out of the net.
16 Turn thee unto me, and have mercy upon me; for I am desolate and afflicted.
17 The troubles of my heart are enlarged: O bring thou me out of my distresses.
18 Look upon mine affliction and my pain; and forgive all my sins.
19 Consider mine enemies; for they are many; and they hate me with cruel hatred.
20 O keep my soul, and deliver me: let me not be ashamed; for I put my trust in thee.
21 Let integrity and uprightness preserve me; for I wait on thee.
22 Redeem Israel, O God, out of all his troubles.

A Psalm of David.
25 To (A)You, O Lord, I lift up my soul.
2 O my God, I (B)trust in You;
Let me not be ashamed;
(C)Let not my enemies triumph over me.
3 Indeed, let no one who [a]waits on You be ashamed;
Let those be ashamed who deal treacherously without cause.
4 (D)Show me Your ways, O Lord;
Teach me Your paths.
5 Lead me in Your truth and teach me,
For You are the God of my salvation;
On You I wait all the day.
6 Remember, O Lord, (E)Your tender mercies and Your lovingkindnesses,
For they are from of old.
7 Do not remember (F)the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions;
(G)According to Your mercy remember me,
For Your goodness’ sake, O Lord.
8 Good and upright is the Lord;
Therefore He teaches sinners in the way.
9 The humble He guides in justice,
And the humble He teaches His way.
10 All the paths of the Lord are mercy and truth,
To such as keep His covenant and His testimonies.
11 (H)For Your name’s sake, O Lord,
Pardon my iniquity, for it is great.
12 Who is the man that fears the Lord?

Teach Me Your Paths

25 To you, O Lord, I (A)lift up my soul.
2 O my God, in you I (B)trust;
(C)let me not be put to shame;
(D)let not my enemies exult over me.
3 Indeed, (E)none who wait for you shall be put to shame;
they shall be ashamed who are (F)wantonly (G)treacherous.
4 (H)Make me to know your ways, O Lord;
teach me your paths.
5 Lead me in your (I)truth and teach me,
for you are the God of my salvation;
for you I wait all the day long.
6 Remember your (J)mercy, O Lord, and your steadfast love,
(K)for they have been from of old.
7 Remember not (L)the sins of my youth or my transgressions;
according to your (M)steadfast love remember me,
for the sake of your goodness, O Lord!
8 (N)Good and upright is the Lord;
therefore he (O)instructs sinners in the way.
9 He leads the humble in what is right,
and teaches the humble his way.
10 All the paths of the Lord are (P)steadfast love and faithfulness,
for those who keep his covenant and his testimonies.
11 For your (Q)name's sake, O Lord,
pardon my guilt, for it is (R)great.
12 Who is the man who fears the Lord?
Him (S)will he instruct in the way that he should choose.
13 His soul shall (T)abide in well-being,
and his (U)offspring (V)shall inherit the land.
14 (W)The friendship[b] of the Lord is for those who fear him,
and he makes known to them his covenant.
15 My (X)eyes are ever toward the Lord,
for he will (Y)pluck my feet out of the net.
16 (Z)Turn to me and be gracious to me,
for I am lonely and afflicted.
17 The troubles of my heart are enlarged;
bring me out of my distresses.
18 (AA)Consider my affliction and my trouble,
and forgive all my sins.
19 Consider how many are my foes,
and with what violent hatred they hate me.
20 Oh, guard my soul, and deliver me!
(AB)Let me not be put to shame, for I take refuge in you.
21 May integrity and uprightness preserve me,
for I wait for you.
