Psalm 20
1 Een lied van David. Voor de leider van het koor.
2 Ik wens je toe dat de Heer je zal helpen
als je in moeilijkheden zit.
Ik wens je toe dat de God van Jakob je zal beschermen.
3 Ik wens je toe dat Hij je hulp zal sturen vanuit zijn heiligdom
en dat Hij je zal steunen vanuit Jeruzalem.
4 Ik wens je toe dat Hij al je meel-offers zal aannemen,
dat Hij zal genieten van al je brand-offers.
5 Ik wens je toe dat Hij je zal geven wat je wenst,
dat Hij ervoor zal zorgen dat al je plannen slagen.
6 We zullen juichen over uw overwinning.
We zullen voor onze God onze vlaggen omhoog houden.
Ik wens je toe dat de Heer je alles zal geven wat je van Hem vraagt.
7 Nu weet ik: de Heer geeft de overwinning
aan de man die Hij tot koning heeft gezalfd.
Hij antwoordt hem vanuit zijn heilige hemel.
Hij redt hem met zijn sterke hand.
8 Sommige mensen vertrouwen op strijdwagens,
andere mensen op paarden.
Maar wíj vertrouwen op onze Heer God.
9 Zíj storten neer en vallen,
maar wíj blijven stevig staan.
10 Heer, geef de koning de overwinning!
Antwoord ons als we U om hulp roepen!

Trust in the Name of the Lord Our God
To the choirmaster. A Psalm of David.
20 May the Lord (A)answer you in the day of trouble!
May (B)the name of the God of Jacob (C)protect you!
2 May he send you help from (D)the sanctuary
and give you support from (E)Zion!
3 May he (F)remember all your offerings
and regard with favor your burnt sacrifices! Selah
4 May he (G)grant you your heart's desire
and fulfill all your plans!
5 May we shout for joy over (H)your salvation,
and in the name of our God set up our (I)banners!
May the Lord fulfill all your petitions!
6 Now I know that the Lord saves his anointed;
he will answer him from his holy heaven
with (J)the saving might of his right hand.
7 Some trust in (K)chariots and some in (L)horses,
(M)but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.
8 They collapse and fall,
but we rise and stand upright.
9 O Lord, save (N)the king!
May he answer us when we call.

20 The Lord hear thee in the day of trouble; the name of the God of Jacob defend thee;
2 Send thee help from the sanctuary, and strengthen thee out of Zion;
3 Remember all thy offerings, and accept thy burnt sacrifice; Selah.
4 Grant thee according to thine own heart, and fulfil all thy counsel.
5 We will rejoice in thy salvation, and in the name of our God we will set up our banners: the Lord fulfil all thy petitions.
6 Now know I that the Lord saveth his anointed; he will hear him from his holy heaven with the saving strength of his right hand.
7 Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the Lord our God.
8 They are brought down and fallen: but we are risen, and stand upright.
9 Save, Lord: let the king hear us when we call.
