120 Een bedevaartslied.
Toen ik in nood zat,
riep ik naar de Here
en Hij gaf mij antwoord.
2 Here,
neem mij in bescherming tegen de leugenaars!
3 Leugenaars,
wat denkt u van Hem te kunnen verwachten?
4 Pijlen van een scherpschutter
en brandend hout van de bremstruik.
Dat doet pijn.
5 Ik vind het zo erg
dat ik in een onbekend land moet verblijven
en moet wonen bij een ver en vreemd volk.
6 Ik woon al veel te lang tussen deze mensen
die zelfs vrede haten.
7 Zelf ben ik altijd op vrede uit,
maar als ik daarover spreek,
worden zij opstandig en willen zij vechten.

120 In my distress I cried unto the Lord, and he heard me.
2 Deliver my soul, O Lord, from lying lips, and from a deceitful tongue.
3 What shall be given unto thee? or what shall be done unto thee, thou false tongue?
4 Sharp arrows of the mighty, with coals of juniper.
5 Woe is me, that I sojourn in Mesech, that I dwell in the tents of Kedar!
6 My soul hath long dwelt with him that hateth peace.
7 I am for peace: but when I speak, they are for war.

1 I call on the Lord(A) in my distress,(B)
and he answers me.
2 Save me, Lord,
from lying lips(C)
and from deceitful tongues.(D)
3 What will he do to you,
and what more besides,
you deceitful tongue?
4 He will punish you with a warrior’s sharp arrows,(E)
with burning coals of the broom bush.
5 Woe to me that I dwell in Meshek,
that I live among the tents of Kedar!(F)
6 Too long have I lived
among those who hate peace.
7 I am for peace;
but when I speak, they are for war.

주께서 내게 응답하신다.
2 “주님, 나에게 대해 거짓말 하는 사람들에게서 나를 구해주소서.
그들은 사실이 아닌 것들을 말합니다.”
3 너 거짓말쟁이야
네게 어떤 일이 일어날 줄 아느냐?
네가 어떤 일을 당할 줄 아느냐?
4 그분께서 용사의 날카로운 화살과 싸리나무 숯불로
너희를 벌하실 것이다.
