³ Know that the Lord is God.
    It is he who made us, and we are his;^[a]
    we are his people and the sheep of his pasture.^(B)

⁴ Enter his gates with thanksgiving
    and his courts with praise.
    Give thanks to him; bless his name.^(C)

⁵ For the Lord is good;
    his steadfast love endures forever
    and his faithfulness to all generations.^(D)

³ He will not let your foot be moved;
    he who keeps you will not slumber.^(B)
4 He who keeps Israel
    will neither slumber nor sleep.

⁵ The Lord is your keeper;
    the Lord is your shade at your right hand.^(C)
6 The sun shall not strike you by day
    nor the moon by night.^(D)

⁷ The Lord will keep you from all evil;
    he will keep your life.^(E)
8 The Lord will keep
    your going out and your coming in
    from this time on and forevermore.^(F)

³ Jerusalem—built as a city
    that is bound firmly together.^(B)
4 To it the tribes go up,
    the tribes of the Lord,
as was decreed for Israel,
    to give thanks to the name of the Lord.^(C)
5 For there the thrones for judgment were set up,
    the thrones of the house of David.^(D)

⁶ Pray for the peace of Jerusalem:
    “May they prosper who love you.^(E)
7 Peace be within your walls
    and security within your towers.”
⁸ For the sake of my relatives and friends
    I will say, “Peace be within you.”
⁹ For the sake of the house of the Lord our God,
    I will seek your good.^(F)

³ If you, O Lord, should mark iniquities,
    Lord, who could stand?^(C)
4 But there is forgiveness with you,
    so that you may be revered.^(D)

⁵ I wait for the Lord; my soul waits,
    and in his word I hope;^(E)
6 my soul waits for the Lord
    more than those who watch for the morning,
    more than those who watch for the morning.^(F)

⁷ O Israel, hope in the Lord!
    For with the Lord there is steadfast love,
    and with him is great power to redeem.^(G)
8 It is he who will redeem Israel
    from all its iniquities.^(H)
