A Song of Praise to the Sovereign Lord

97 The Lord ^(A)reigns;
Let the earth rejoice;
Let the multitude of ^[a]isles be glad!

²^(B)Clouds and darkness surround Him;
^(C)Righteousness and justice are the foundation of His throne.
³^(D)A fire goes before Him,
And burns up His enemies round about.
⁴^(E)His lightnings light the world;
The earth sees and trembles.
⁵^(F)The mountains melt like wax at the presence of the Lord,
At the presence of the Lord of the whole earth.
⁶^(G)The heavens declare His righteousness,
And all the peoples see His glory.

⁷^(H)Let all be put to shame who serve carved images,
Who boast of idols.
^(I)Worship Him, all you gods.
⁸Zion hears and is glad,
And the daughters of Judah rejoice
Because of Your judgments, O Lord.
⁹For You, Lord, are ^(J)most high above all the earth;
^(K)You are exalted far above all gods.

¹⁰You who love the Lord, ^(L)hate evil!
^(M)He preserves the souls of His saints;
^(N)He delivers them out of the hand of the wicked.
¹¹^(O)Light is sown for the righteous,
And gladness for the upright in heart.
¹²^(P)Rejoice in the Lord, you righteous,
^(Q)And give thanks ^[b]at the remembrance of ^[c]His holy name.

A Song of Praise to the Lord for His Salvation and Judgment

A Psalm.

98 Oh, ^(R)sing to the Lord a new song!
For He has ^(S)done marvelous things;
His right hand and His holy arm have gained Him the victory.
²^(T)The Lord has made known His salvation;
^(U)His righteousness He has revealed in the sight of the ^[d]nations.
³He has remembered His mercy and His faithfulness to the house of Israel;
^(V)All the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.

⁴Shout joyfully to the Lord, all the earth;
Break forth in song, rejoice, and sing praises.
⁵Sing to the Lord with the harp,
With the harp and the sound of a psalm,
⁶With trumpets and the sound of a horn;
Shout joyfully before the Lord, the King.

⁷Let the sea roar, and all its fullness,
The world and those who dwell in it;
⁸Let the rivers clap their hands;
Let the hills be joyful together
⁹ before the Lord,
^(W)For He is coming to judge the earth.
With righteousness He shall judge the world,
And the peoples with ^[e]equity.

Praise to the Lord for His Holiness

99 The Lord reigns;
Let the peoples tremble!
^(X)He dwells between the cherubim;
Let the earth be ^[f]moved!
²The Lord is great in Zion,
And He is high above all the peoples.
³Let them praise Your great and awesome name—
^[g]He is holy.

⁴The King’s strength also loves justice;
You have established equity;
You have executed justice and righteousness in Jacob.
⁵Exalt the Lord our God,
And worship at His footstool—
He is holy.

⁶Moses and Aaron were among His priests,
And Samuel was among those who ^(Y)called upon His name;
They called upon the Lord, and He answered them.
⁷He spoke to them in the cloudy pillar;
They kept His testimonies and the ^[h]ordinance He gave them.

⁸You answered them, O Lord our God;
You were to them God-Who-Forgives,
Though You took vengeance on their deeds.
⁹Exalt the Lord our God,
And worship at His holy hill;
For the Lord our God is holy.

A Song of Praise for the Lord’s Faithfulness to His People

^(Z)A Psalm of Thanksgiving.

100 Make ^(AA)a joyful shout to the Lord, ^[i]all you lands!
²Serve the Lord with gladness;
Come before His presence with singing.
³Know that the Lord, He is God;
^(AB)It is He who has made us, and ^[j]not we ourselves;
^(AC)We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.

⁴^(AD)Enter into His gates with thanksgiving,
And into His courts with praise.
Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.
⁵For the Lord is good;
^(AE)His mercy is everlasting,
And His truth endures to all generations.

Promised Faithfulness to the Lord

A Psalm of David.

101 I will sing of mercy and justice;
To You, O Lord, I will sing praises.

²I will behave wisely in a ^[k]perfect way.
Oh, when will You come to me?
I will ^(AF)walk within my house with a perfect heart.

³I will set nothing ^[l]wicked before my eyes;
^(AG)I hate the work of those ^(AH)who fall away;
It shall not cling to me.
⁴A perverse heart shall depart from me;
I will not ^(AI)know wickedness.

⁵Whoever secretly slanders his neighbor,
Him I will destroy;
^(AJ)The one who has a haughty look and a proud heart,
Him I will not endure.

⁶My eyes shall be on the faithful of the land,
That they may dwell with me;
He who walks in a ^[m]perfect way,
He shall serve me.
⁷He who works deceit shall not dwell within my house;
He who tells lies shall not ^[n]continue in my presence.
⁸^(AK)Early I will destroy all the wicked of the land,
That I may cut off all the evildoers ^(AL)from the city of the Lord.
