Psalm 94

God the Refuge of the Righteous
94 O Lord God, (A)to whom vengeance belongs—
O God, to whom vengeance belongs, shine forth!
2 Rise up, O (B)Judge of the earth;
[a]Render punishment to the proud.
3 Lord, (C)how long will the wicked,
How long will the wicked triumph?
4 They (D)utter speech, and speak insolent things;
All the workers of iniquity boast in themselves.
5 They break in pieces Your people, O Lord,
And afflict Your heritage.
6 They slay the widow and the stranger,
And murder the fatherless.
7 (E)Yet they say, “The Lord does not see,
Nor does the God of Jacob [b]understand.”
8 Understand, you senseless among the people;
And you fools, when will you be wise?
9 (F)He who planted the ear, shall He not hear?
He who formed the eye, shall He not see?
10 He who [c]instructs the [d]nations, shall He not correct,
He who teaches man knowledge?
11 The Lord (G)knows the thoughts of man,
That they are futile.
12 Blessed is the man whom You (H)instruct, O Lord,
And teach out of Your law,
13 That You may give him [e]rest from the days of adversity,
Until the pit is dug for the wicked.
14 For the Lord will not [f]cast off His people,
Nor will He forsake His inheritance.
15 But judgment will return to righteousness,
And all the upright in heart will follow it.
16 Who will rise up for me against the evildoers?
Who will stand up for me against the workers of iniquity?
17 Unless the Lord had been my help,
My soul would soon have settled in silence.
18 If I say, “My foot slips,”
Your mercy, O Lord, will hold me up.
19 In the multitude of my anxieties within me,
Your comforts delight my soul.
20 Shall (I)the throne of iniquity, which devises evil by law,
Have fellowship with You?
21 They gather together against the life of the righteous,
And condemn (J)innocent blood.
22 But the Lord has been my defense,
And my God the rock of my refuge.
23 He has brought on them their own iniquity,
And shall [g]cut them off in their own wickedness;
The Lord our God shall cut them off.

94 God of vengeance, Adonai!
God of vengeance, appear!
2 Assert yourself as judge of the earth!
Pay back the proud as they deserve!
3 How long are the wicked, Adonai,
how long are the wicked to triumph?
4 They pour out insolent words,
they go on bragging, all these evildoers.
5 They crush your people, Adonai,
they oppress your heritage.
6 They kill widows and strangers
and murder the fatherless.
7 They say, “Yah isn’t looking;
the God of Ya‘akov won’t notice.”
8 Take notice, yourselves, you boors among the people!
You fools, when will you understand?
9 Will the one who planted the ear not hear?
Will the one who formed the eye not see?
10 Will the one who disciplines nations not correct them?
Will the teacher of humanity not know?
11 Adonai understands that people’s thoughts
are merely a puff of wind.
12 How happy the man whom you correct, Yah,
whom you teach from your Torah,
13 giving him respite from days of trouble,
till a pit is dug for the wicked!
14 For Adonai will not desert his people,
he will not abandon his heritage.
15 Justice will once again become righteous,
and all the upright in heart will follow it.
16 Who will champion my cause against the wicked?
Who will stand up for me against evildoers?
17 If Adonai hadn’t helped me,
I would soon have dwelt in the land of silence.
18 When I said, “My foot is slipping!”
your grace, Adonai, supported me.
19 When my cares within me are many,
your comforts cheer me up.
20 Can unjust judges be allied with you,
those producing wrong in the name of law?
21 They band together against the righteous
and condemn the innocent to death.
22 But Adonai has become my stronghold,
my God is my rock of refuge.
23 But he repays them as their guilt deserves;
he will cut them off with their own evil;
Adonai our God will cut them off.

ne batemula ataliiko kitaawe.
7 (E)Ne boogera nti, “Katonda talaba;
Katonda wa Yakobo tafaayo.”
8 (F)Mwerinde mmwe abantu abatategeera.
Mmwe abasirusiru muligeziwala ddi?
9 (G)Oyo eyatonda okutu tawulira?
Oyo eyakola eriiso talaba?
10 (H)Oyo akangavvula amawanga, taakubonereze?
Oyo ayigiriza abantu talina ky’amanyi?
11 (I)Mukama amanyi ebirowoozo by’abantu;
amanyi nga mukka bukka.
12 (J)Ayi Mukama, alina omukisa oyo gw’ogunjula,
gw’oyigiriza eby’omu mateeka go;
13 (K)omuwummuzaako mu kabi kaalimu,
okutuusa abakola ebibi lwe balisimirwa ekinnya.
14 (L)Kubanga Mukama talireka bantu be;
talyabulira zzadde lye.
15 (M)Aliramula mu butuukirivu,
n’abo abalina emitima emigolokofu bwe banaakolanga.
16 (N)Ani alinnwanyisizaako abakola ebibi?
Ani alinnwanirira eri abakola ebibi?
17 (O)Singa Mukama teyali mubeezi wange,
omwoyo gwange gwandiserengese emagombe.
18 (P)Bwe naleekaana nti, “Nseerera!”
Okwagala kwo okutaggwaawo, Ayi Mukama, ne kumpanirira.
19 Ebyeraliikiriza omutima gwange bwe byayitirira obungi,
okusaasira kwo ne kuzzaamu omwoyo gwange amaanyi.
20 (Q)Oyinza okukolagana n’obufuzi obukyamu,
obukaabya abantu n’amateeka gaabwe?
21 (R)Abakola ebibi beegatta ne balumbagana abatuukirivu;
atasobezza ne bamusalira ogw’okufa.
22 (S)Naye Mukama afuuse ekiddukiro kyange eky’amaanyi;
ye Katonda wange, era Olwazi lwange mwe neekweka.
23 (T)Mukama alibabonereza olw’ebibi byabwe,
n’abazikiriza olw’ebyonoono byabwe;
Mukama Katonda waffe alibamalirawo ddala.
