Psalm 89-94

⁵ The ^(J)heavens will praise Your wonders, O Lord;
Your faithfulness also ^(K)in the assembly of the ^(L)holy ones.
⁶ For ^(M)who in the skies is comparable to the Lord?
Who among the ^[e](N)sons of the mighty is like the Lord,
⁷ A God ^(O)greatly feared in the council of the ^(P)holy ones,
And ^(Q)awesome above all those who are around Him?
⁸ O Lord God of hosts, ^(R)who is like You, O mighty ^[f]Lord?
Your faithfulness also surrounds You.
⁹ You rule the swelling of the sea;
When its waves rise, You ^(S)still them.
¹⁰ You Yourself crushed ^[g](T)Rahab like one who is slain;
You ^(U)scattered Your enemies with ^[h]Your mighty arm.

¹¹ The ^(V)heavens are Yours, the earth also is Yours;
The ^(W)world and ^[i]all it contains, You have founded them.
¹² The ^(X)north and the south, You have created them;
^(Y)Tabor and ^(Z)Hermon ^(AA)shout for joy at Your name.
¹³ You have ^[j]a strong arm;
Your hand is mighty, Your ^(AB)right hand is exalted.
^14 (AC)Righteousness and justice are the foundation of Your throne;
^(AD)Lovingkindness and ^[k]truth go before You.
¹⁵ How blessed are the people who know the ^[l](AE)joyful sound!
O Lord, they walk in the ^(AF)light of Your countenance.
¹⁶ In ^(AG)Your name they rejoice all the day,
And by Your righteousness they are exalted.
¹⁷ For You are the glory of ^(AH)their strength,
And by Your favor ^[m]our ^(AI)horn is exalted.
¹⁸ For our ^(AJ)shield belongs to the Lord,
^[n]And our king to the ^(AK)Holy One of Israel.

^19 [o]Once You spoke in vision to Your godly ^[p]ones,
And said, “I have ^[q]given help to one who is ^(AL)mighty;
I have exalted one ^(AM)chosen from the people.
²⁰ “I have ^(AN)found David My servant;
With My holy ^(AO)oil I have anointed him,
²¹ With whom ^(AP)My hand will be established;
My arm also will ^(AQ)strengthen him.
²² “The enemy will not ^[r]deceive him,
Nor the ^[s](AR)son of wickedness afflict him.
²³ “But I shall ^(AS)crush his adversaries before him,
And strike those who hate him.
²⁴ “My ^(AT)faithfulness and My lovingkindness will be with him,
And in My name his ^(AU)horn will be exalted.
²⁵ “I shall also set his hand ^(AV)on the sea
And his right hand on the rivers.
²⁶ “He will cry to Me, ‘You are ^(AW)my Father,
My God, and the ^(AX)rock of my salvation.’
²⁷ “I also shall make him My ^(AY)firstborn,
The ^(AZ)highest of the kings of the earth.
²⁸ “My ^(BA)lovingkindness I will keep for him forever,
And My ^(BB)covenant shall be confirmed to him.
²⁹ “So I will establish his ^[t](BC)descendants forever
And his ^(BD)throne ^(BE)as the days of heaven.

³⁰ “If his sons ^(BF)forsake My law
And do not walk in My judgments,
³¹ If they ^[u]violate My statutes
And do not keep My commandments,
³² Then I will punish their transgression with the ^(BG)rod
And their iniquity with stripes.
³³ “But I will not break off ^(BH)My lovingkindness from him,
Nor deal falsely in My faithfulness.
³⁴ “My ^(BI)covenant I will not ^[v]violate,
Nor will I ^(BJ)alter ^[w]the utterance of My lips.
³⁵ “^[x]Once I have ^(BK)sworn by My holiness;
I will not lie to David.
³⁶ “His ^[y](BL)descendants shall endure forever
And his ^(BM)throne ^(BN)as the sun before Me.
³⁷ “It shall be established forever ^(BO)like the moon,
And the ^(BP)witness in the sky is faithful.” ^[z]Selah.

³⁸ But You have ^(BQ)cast off and ^(BR)rejected,
You have been full of wrath ^[aa]against Your ^(BS)anointed.
³⁹ You have ^(BT)spurned the covenant of Your servant;
You have ^(BU)profaned ^(BV)his crown ^[ab]in the dust.
⁴⁰ You have ^(BW)broken down all his walls;
You have ^(BX)brought his strongholds to ruin.
^41 (BY)All who pass along the way plunder him;
He has become a ^(BZ)reproach to his neighbors.
⁴² You have ^(CA)exalted the right hand of his adversaries;
You have ^(CB)made all his enemies rejoice.
⁴³ You also turn back the edge of his sword
And have ^(CC)not made him stand in battle.
⁴⁴ You have made his ^[ac](CD)splendor to cease
And cast his throne to the ground.
⁴⁵ You have ^(CE)shortened the days of his youth;
You have ^(CF)covered him with shame. Selah.

^46 (CG)How long, O Lord?
Will You hide Yourself forever?
Will Your ^(CH)wrath burn like fire?
^47 (CI)Remember ^[ad]what my span of life is;
For what ^(CJ)vanity ^[ae]You have created all the sons of men!
⁴⁸ What man can live and not ^(CK)see death?
Can he ^(CL)deliver his soul from the ^[af]power of ^[ag]Sheol? Selah.

⁴⁹ Where are Your former lovingkindnesses, O Lord,
Which You ^(CM)swore to David in Your faithfulness?
⁵⁰ Remember, O Lord, the ^(CN)reproach of Your servants;
^[ah]How I bear in my bosom the reproach of all the many peoples,
⁵¹ With which ^(CO)Your enemies have reproached, O Lord,
With which they have reproached the footsteps of ^(CP)Your anointed.

^52 (CQ)Blessed be the Lord forever!
Amen and Amen.

³ You ^(CV)turn man back into dust
And say, “Return, O children of men.”
⁴ For ^(CW)a thousand years in Your sight
Are like ^(CX)yesterday when it passes by,
^[al]Or as a ^(CY)watch in the night.
⁵ You ^(CZ)have ^[am]swept them away like a flood, they ^[an](DA)fall asleep;
In the morning they are like ^(DB)grass which ^[ao]sprouts anew.
⁶ In the morning it ^(DC)flourishes and ^[ap]sprouts anew;
Toward evening it ^(DD)fades and ^(DE)withers away.

⁷ For we have been ^(DF)consumed by Your anger
And by Your wrath we have been ^[aq]dismayed.
⁸ You have ^(DG)placed our iniquities before You,
Our ^(DH)secret sins in the light of Your presence.
⁹ For ^(DI)all our days have declined in Your fury;
We have finished our years like a ^[ar]sigh.
¹⁰ As for the days of our ^[as]life, ^[at]they contain seventy years,
Or if due to strength, ^(DJ)eighty years,
Yet their pride is but ^(DK)labor and sorrow;
For soon it is gone and we ^(DL)fly away.
¹¹ Who ^[au]understands the ^(DM)power of Your anger
And Your fury, according to the ^(DN)fear ^[av]that is due You?
¹² So ^(DO)teach us to number our days,
That we may ^[aw](DP)present to You a heart of wisdom.

¹³ Do ^(DQ)return, O Lord; ^(DR)how long will it be?
And ^[ax]be ^(DS)sorry for Your servants.
¹⁴ O ^(DT)satisfy us in the morning with Your lovingkindness,
That we may ^(DU)sing for joy and be glad all our days.
^15 (DV)Make us glad ^[ay]according to the days You have afflicted us,
And the ^(DW)years we have seen ^[az]evil.
¹⁶ Let Your ^(DX)work appear to Your servants
And Your ^(DY)majesty ^[ba]to their children.
¹⁷ Let the ^(DZ)favor of the Lord our God be upon us;
And ^[bb](EA)confirm for us the work of our hands;
Yes, ^[bc]confirm the work of our hands.

⁵ You ^(EM)will not be afraid of the ^(EN)terror by night,
Or of the ^(EO)arrow that flies by day;
⁶ Of the ^(EP)pestilence that ^[bd]stalks in darkness,
Or of the ^(EQ)destruction that lays waste at noon.
⁷ A thousand may fall at your side
And ten thousand at your right hand,
But ^(ER)it shall not approach you.
⁸ You will only look on with your eyes
And ^(ES)see the recompense of the wicked.
^9 [be]For you have made the Lord, ^(ET)my refuge,
Even the Most High, ^(EU)your dwelling place.
^10 (EV)No evil will befall you,
Nor will any plague come near your ^[bf]tent.

¹¹ For He will give ^(EW)His angels charge concerning you,
To guard you in all your ways.
¹² They will ^(EX)bear you up in their hands,
That you do not strike your foot against a stone.
¹³ You will ^(EY)tread upon the lion and cobra,
The young lion and the ^[bg]serpent you will trample down.

¹⁴ “^(EZ)Because he has loved Me, therefore I will deliver him;
I will ^(FA)set him securely on high, because he has ^(FB)known My name.
¹⁵ “He will ^(FC)call upon Me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in ^[bh]trouble;
I will rescue him and ^(FD)honor him.
¹⁶ “With ^[bi]a ^(FE)long life I will satisfy him
And ^[bj](FF)let him see My salvation.”

⁵ How ^(FQ)great are Your works, O Lord!
Your ^[bq](FR)thoughts are very ^(FS)deep.
⁶ A ^(FT)senseless man has no knowledge,
Nor does a ^(FU)stupid man understand this:
⁷ That when the wicked ^(FV)sprouted up like grass
And all ^(FW)who did iniquity flourished,
It was only that they might be ^(FX)destroyed forevermore.
⁸ But You, O Lord, are ^(FY)on high forever.
⁹ For, behold, Your enemies, O Lord,
For, behold, ^(FZ)Your enemies will perish;
All who do iniquity will be ^(GA)scattered.

¹⁰ But You have exalted my ^(GB)horn like that of the wild ox;
I have ^[br]been ^(GC)anointed with fresh oil.
¹¹ And my eye has ^(GD)looked exultantly upon ^[bs]my foes,
My ears hear of the evildoers who rise up against me.
¹² The ^(GE)righteous man will ^[bt]flourish like the palm tree,
He will grow like a ^(GF)cedar in Lebanon.
^13 (GG)Planted in the house of the Lord,
They will flourish ^(GH)in the courts of our God.
¹⁴ They will still ^[bu](GI)yield fruit in old age;
They shall be ^[bv]full of sap and very green,
¹⁵ To ^[bw]declare that ^(GJ)the Lord is upright;
He is my ^(GK)rock, and there is ^(GL)no unrighteousness in Him.

³ The ^(GS)floods have lifted up, O Lord,
The floods have lifted up their voice,
The floods lift up their pounding waves.
⁴ More than the sounds of many waters,
Than the mighty breakers of the sea,
The Lord ^(GT)on high is mighty.
⁵ Your ^(GU)testimonies are fully confirmed;
^(GV)Holiness befits Your house,
O Lord, ^[by]forevermore.

⁸ Pay heed, you ^(HI)senseless among the people;
And when will you understand, ^(HJ)stupid ones?
⁹ He who ^(HK)planted the ear, ^[ce]does He not hear?
He who formed the eye, ^[cf]does He not see?
¹⁰ He who ^[cg](HL)chastens the nations, will He not rebuke,
Even He who ^(HM)teaches man knowledge?
¹¹ The Lord ^(HN)knows the thoughts of man,
^[ch]That they are a mere breath.

¹² Blessed is the man whom ^(HO)You chasten, O ^[ci]Lord,
And ^(HP)whom You teach out of Your law;
¹³ That You may grant him ^(HQ)relief from the ^(HR)days of adversity,
Until ^(HS)a pit is dug for the wicked.
¹⁴ For ^(HT)the Lord will not abandon His people,
Nor will He ^(HU)forsake His inheritance.
¹⁵ For ^[cj](HV)judgment ^[ck]will again be righteous,
And all the upright in heart ^[cl]will follow it.
¹⁶ Who will ^(HW)stand up for me against evildoers?
Who will take his stand for me ^(HX)against those who do wickedness?

¹⁷ If ^(HY)the Lord had not been my help,
My soul would soon have dwelt in the abode of silence.
¹⁸ If I should say, “^(HZ)My foot has slipped,”
Your lovingkindness, O Lord, will hold me up.
¹⁹ When my anxious thoughts ^[cm]multiply within me,
Your ^(IA)consolations delight my soul.
²⁰ Can a ^[cn](IB)throne of destruction be allied with You,
One ^(IC)which devises ^[co]mischief by decree?
²¹ They ^(ID)band themselves together against the ^[cp]life of the righteous
And ^(IE)condemn ^[cq]the innocent to death.
²² But the Lord has been my ^(IF)stronghold,
And my God the ^(IG)rock of my refuge.
²³ He has ^(IH)brought back their wickedness upon them
And will ^[cr](II)destroy them in their evil;
The Lord our God will ^[cs]destroy them.
