19 Once you spoke in a vision,
    to your faithful people you said:
“I have bestowed strength on a warrior;
    I have raised up a young man from among the people.
20 I have found David(A) my servant;(B)
    with my sacred oil(C) I have anointed(D) him.
21 My hand will sustain him;
    surely my arm will strengthen him.(E)
22 The enemy will not get the better of him;(F)
    the wicked will not oppress(G) him.
23 I will crush his foes before him(H)
    and strike down his adversaries.(I)
24 My faithful love will be with him,(J)
    and through my name his horn[a] will be exalted.
25 I will set his hand over the sea,
    his right hand over the rivers.(K)
26 He will call out to me, ‘You are my Father,(L)
    my God, the Rock(M) my Savior.’(N)
27 And I will appoint him to be my firstborn,(O)
    the most exalted(P) of the kings(Q) of the earth.
28 I will maintain my love to him forever,
    and my covenant with him will never fail.(R)
29 I will establish his line forever,
    his throne as long as the heavens endure.(S)

19 Then the angel of God,(G) who had been traveling in front of Israel’s army, withdrew and went behind them. The pillar of cloud(H) also moved from in front and stood behind(I) them, 20 coming between the armies of Egypt and Israel. Throughout the night the cloud brought darkness(J) to the one side and light to the other side; so neither went near the other all night long.

21 Then Moses stretched out his hand(K) over the sea,(L) and all that night the Lord drove the sea back with a strong east wind(M) and turned it into dry land.(N) The waters were divided,(O) 22 and the Israelites went through the sea(P) on dry ground,(Q) with a wall(R) of water on their right and on their left.

This is the one who came by water and blood(A)—Jesus Christ. He did not come by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth.(B) For there are three(C) that testify: the[a] Spirit, the water and the blood; and the three are in agreement. We accept human testimony,(D) but God’s testimony is greater because it is the testimony of God,(E) which he has given about his Son.
