Psalm 86:5-13
New International Version
5 You, Lord, are forgiving and good,
abounding in love(A) to all who call to you.
6 Hear my prayer, Lord;
listen to my cry(B) for mercy.
7 When I am in distress,(C) I call(D) to you,
because you answer(E) me.
8 Among the gods(F) there is none like you,(G) Lord;
no deeds can compare with yours.
9 All the nations you have made
will come(H) and worship(I) before you, Lord;
they will bring glory(J) to your name.
10 For you are great(K) and do marvelous deeds;(L)
you alone(M) are God.
11 Teach me your way,(N) Lord,
that I may rely on your faithfulness;(O)
give me an undivided(P) heart,
that I may fear(Q) your name.
12 I will praise you, Lord my God, with all my heart;(R)
I will glorify your name forever.
13 For great is your love toward me;
you have delivered me(S) from the depths,
from the realm of the dead.(T)
1 Timothy 1:12-19

The Lord’s Grace to Paul
12 I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me strength,(A) that he considered me trustworthy, appointing me to his service.(B) 13 Even though I was once a blasphemer and a persecutor(C) and a violent man, I was shown mercy(D) because I acted in ignorance and unbelief.(E) 14 The grace of our Lord was poured out on me abundantly,(F) along with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus.(G)
15 Here is a trustworthy saying(H) that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners(I)—of whom I am the worst. 16 But for that very reason I was shown mercy(J) so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his immense patience(K) as an example for those who would believe(L) in him and receive eternal life.(M) 17 Now to the King(N) eternal, immortal,(O) invisible,(P) the only God,(Q) be honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen.(R)
The Charge to Timothy Renewed
18 Timothy, my son,(S) I am giving you this command in keeping with the prophecies once made about you,(T) so that by recalling them you may fight the battle well,(U) 19 holding on to faith and a good conscience,(V) which some have rejected and so have suffered shipwreck with regard to the faith.(W)
Hebrews 10:15-23
New International Version
15 The Holy Spirit also testifies(A) to us about this. First he says:
16 “This is the covenant I will make with them
after that time, says the Lord.
I will put my laws in their hearts,
and I will write them on their minds.”[a](B)
17 Then he adds:
18 And where these have been forgiven, sacrifice for sin is no longer necessary.
A Call to Persevere in Faith
19 Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence(D) to enter the Most Holy Place(E) by the blood of Jesus, 20 by a new and living way(F) opened for us through the curtain,(G) that is, his body, 21 and since we have a great priest(H) over the house of God,(I) 22 let us draw near to God(J) with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings,(K) having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience(L) and having our bodies washed with pure water.(M) 23 Let us hold unswervingly to the hope(N) we profess,(O) for he who promised is faithful.(P)

Dead to Sin, Alive in Christ
6 What shall we say, then?(A) Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase?(B) 2 By no means! We are those who have died to sin;(C) how can we live in it any longer? 3 Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized(D) into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? 4 We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death(E) in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead(F) through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.(G)
5 For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we will certainly also be united with him in a resurrection like his.(H) 6 For we know that our old self(I) was crucified with him(J) so that the body ruled by sin(K) might be done away with,[a] that we should no longer be slaves to sin(L)—
