New Living Translation

Psalm 85

For the choir director: A psalm of the descendants of Korah.

1 Lord, you poured out blessings on your land!
    You restored the fortunes of Israel.[a]
2 You forgave the guilt of your people—
    yes, you covered all their sins. Interlude
3 You held back your fury.
    You kept back your blazing anger.

4 Now restore us again, O God of our salvation.
    Put aside your anger against us once more.
5 Will you be angry with us always?
    Will you prolong your wrath to all generations?
6 Won’t you revive us again,
    so your people can rejoice in you?
7 Show us your unfailing love, O Lord,
    and grant us your salvation.

8 I listen carefully to what God the Lord is saying,
    for he speaks peace to his faithful people.
    But let them not return to their foolish ways.
9 Surely his salvation is near to those who fear him,
    so our land will be filled with his glory.

10 Unfailing love and truth have met together.
    Righteousness and peace have kissed!
11 Truth springs up from the earth,
    and righteousness smiles down from heaven.
12 Yes, the Lord pours down his blessings.
    Our land will yield its bountiful harvest.
13 Righteousness goes as a herald before him,
    preparing the way for his steps.

Psalm 85[a]

For the director of music. Of the Sons of Korah. A psalm.

1 You, Lord, showed favor to your land;
    you restored the fortunes(A) of Jacob.
2 You forgave(B) the iniquity(C) of your people
    and covered all their sins.[b]
3 You set aside all your wrath(D)
    and turned from your fierce anger.(E)

4 Restore(F) us again, God our Savior,(G)
    and put away your displeasure toward us.
5 Will you be angry with us forever?(H)
    Will you prolong your anger through all generations?
6 Will you not revive(I) us again,
    that your people may rejoice(J) in you?
7 Show us your unfailing love,(K) Lord,
    and grant us your salvation.(L)

8 I will listen to what God the Lord says;
    he promises peace(M) to his people, his faithful servants—
    but let them not turn to folly.(N)
9 Surely his salvation(O) is near those who fear him,
    that his glory(P) may dwell in our land.

10 Love and faithfulness(Q) meet together;
    righteousness(R) and peace kiss each other.
11 Faithfulness springs forth from the earth,
    and righteousness(S) looks down from heaven.
12 The Lord will indeed give what is good,(T)
    and our land will yield(U) its harvest.
13 Righteousness goes before him
    and prepares the way for his steps.

2 Herre, du har visat välvilja mot ditt land.
    Du har upprättat Jakobs lycka.
3 Du lyfte av ditt folks skuld
    och förlät dem deras synd. Séla
4 Du drog tillbaka ditt raseri
    och släckte din vredes glöd.

5 Återupprätta oss, Gud, du vår räddare,
    lägg bort ditt missnöje med oss.
6 Ska du alltid vara vred på oss?
    Ska din vrede sträcka sig även till kommande generationer?
7 Vill du inte göra oss levande igen,
    så att ditt folk kan glädja sig i dig?
8 Herre, visa oss din nåd
    och ge oss din frälsning.

9 Jag vill höra vad Gud säger.
    Herren talar frid till sitt folk, till sina fromma,
    men må de inte återvända till dårskap.
10 Hans frälsning är verkligen nära dem som fruktar honom,
    för att hans härlighet ska bo i vårt land.

11 Nåd och trofasthet ska mötas
    och rättfärdighet och frid kyssas.
12 Sanningen ska spira upp ur jorden
    och rättfärdigheten blicka ner från himlen.
13 Herren själv ska ge allt gott,
    och vårt land ska ge sin skörd.
14 Rättfärdigheten ska gå före honom
    och bana väg för hans steg.
