Psalm 85
King James Version
85 Lord, thou hast been favourable unto thy land: thou hast brought back the captivity of Jacob.
2 Thou hast forgiven the iniquity of thy people, thou hast covered all their sin. Selah.
3 Thou hast taken away all thy wrath: thou hast turned thyself from the fierceness of thine anger.
4 Turn us, O God of our salvation, and cause thine anger toward us to cease.
5 Wilt thou be angry with us for ever? wilt thou draw out thine anger to all generations?
6 Wilt thou not revive us again: that thy people may rejoice in thee?
7 Shew us thy mercy, O Lord, and grant us thy salvation.
8 I will hear what God the Lord will speak: for he will speak peace unto his people, and to his saints: but let them not turn again to folly.
9 Surely his salvation is nigh them that fear him; that glory may dwell in our land.
10 Mercy and truth are met together; righteousness and peace have kissed each other.
11 Truth shall spring out of the earth; and righteousness shall look down from heaven.
12 Yea, the Lord shall give that which is good; and our land shall yield her increase.
13 Righteousness shall go before him; and shall set us in the way of his steps.

Prayer that the Lord Will Restore Favor to the Land
To the Chief Musician. A Psalm (A)of the sons of Korah.
85 Lord, You have been favorable to Your land;
You have (B)brought back the captivity of Jacob.
2 You have forgiven the iniquity of Your people;
You have covered all their sin. Selah
3 You have taken away all Your wrath;
You have turned from the fierceness of Your anger.
4 (C)Restore us, O God of our salvation,
And cause Your anger toward us to cease.
5 (D)Will You be angry with us forever?
Will You prolong Your anger to all generations?
6 Will You not (E)revive us again,
That Your people may rejoice in You?
7 Show us Your mercy, Lord,
And grant us Your salvation.
8 I will hear what God the Lord will speak,
For He will speak peace
To His people and to His saints;
But let them not turn back to [a]folly.
9 Surely (F)His salvation is near to those who fear Him,
(G)That glory may dwell in our land.
10 Mercy and truth have met together;
(H)Righteousness and peace have kissed.
11 Truth shall spring out of the earth,
And righteousness shall look down from heaven.
12 (I)Yes, the Lord will give what is good;

2 U bent altijd goed geweest voor uw land, Here.
U hebt het volk van Jakob uit de ellende gered.
3 U hebt de zonden van het volk vergeven en bedekt.
4 U hebt uw verontwaardiging laten varen
en U afgekeerd van uw grote toorn.
5 Bevrijd ons nu weer, o God,
U bent onze verlosser.
Laat uw weerzin tegen ons varen.
6 Blijft U altijd tegen ons?
Geldt uw toorn ook voor alle komende geslachten?
7 Wilt U ons volk weer tot leven brengen,
zodat alle mensen over U kunnen juichen?
8 Och Here, laat uw goedheid en trouw toch zien,
verlos ons.
9 Ik wil luisteren naar wat de Here God zegt.
Hij spreekt over vrede tot de Israëlieten
en tot allen die bij hen horen.
Maar zijn oordeel wacht hun,
als zij zich weer van Hem afkeren.
10 Het is werkelijk waar dat Hij mensen bevrijdt
die ontzag voor Hem hebben.
Waar zij wonen, heerst vrede en geluk.
11 Daar komt men goedheid, liefde en trouw tegen.
Er heerst vrede omdat er rechtvaardig wordt geregeerd.
12 Uit de aarde komt trouw voort
en vanuit de hemel komt de rechtvaardigheid.
13 De Here geeft altijd het goede
en op onze akkers groeien de gewassen overvloedig.
14 De rechtvaardigheid gaat voor God uit.
Die bepaalt zijn weg.
