⁸ I will listen to what God the Lord says;
    he promises peace^(A) to his people, his faithful servants—
    but let them not turn to folly.^(B)

⁵ In love a throne^(A) will be established;^(B)
    in faithfulness a man will sit on it—
    one from the house^[a] of David^(C)—
one who in judging seeks justice^(D)
    and speeds the cause of righteousness.

⁵ “The days are coming,” declares the Lord,
    “when I will raise up for David^[a] a righteous Branch,^(A)
a King^(B) who will reign^(C) wisely
    and do what is just and right^(D) in the land.
