Psalm 83
Legacy Standard Bible
O God, Do Not Be Quiet
A Song. A Psalm of Asaph.
83 O God, (A)do not remain at rest;
(B)Do not be silent and, O God, do not be quiet.
2 For behold, Your enemies (C)roar,
And (D)those who hate You have (E)lifted up their heads.
3 They (F)make shrewd plans against Your people,
And [a]conspire together against (G)Your [b]treasured ones.
4 They have said, “Come, and (H)let us wipe them out [c]as a nation,
That the (I)name of Israel be remembered no more.”
5 For they have [d](J)conspired together with one heart;
Against You they cut a covenant:
6 The tents of (K)Edom and the (L)Ishmaelites,
(M)Moab and the (N)Hagrites;
7 (O)Gebal and (P)Ammon and (Q)Amalek,
(R)Philistia with the inhabitants of (S)Tyre;
8 (T)Assyria also has joined with them;
They have become [e]the power of the (U)children of Lot. [f]Selah.
9 Do to them (V)as to Midian,
As (W)to Sisera, and Jabin at the river of Kishon,
10 Who were destroyed at En-dor,
Who (X)were as dung for the ground.
11 Make their nobles like (Y)Oreb and Zeeb
And all their princes like (Z)Zebah and Zalmunna,
12 Who said, “(AA)Let us possess for ourselves
The (AB)pastures of God.”
13 O my God, make them like the [g](AC)whirling dust,
Like (AD)chaff before the wind.
14 Like (AE)fire that burns the forest
And like a flame that (AF)burns up the mountains,
15 So pursue them (AG)with Your tempest
And dismay them with Your storm.
16 (AH)Fill their faces with disgrace,
That they may seek Your name, O Yahweh.
17 Let them be (AI)ashamed and dismayed forever,
And let them be humiliated and perish,
18 That they may (AJ)know that (AK)You alone—Your name is Yahweh—
Are the (AL)Most High over all the earth.

Tree of Life Version
Nations Conspire Against Israel
Psalm 83
1 A song: a psalm of Asaph.
2 God, do not keep silent.
Do not hold Your peace, O God.
Do not be still.
3 For look, Your enemies make an uproar.
Those who hate You lift up their head.
4 They make a shrewd plot against Your people,
conspiring against Your treasured ones.
5 “Come,” they say, “let’s wipe them out as a nation!
Let Israel’s name be remembered no more!”
6 For with one mind they plot together.
Against You do they make a covenant.
7 The tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites,
Moab and the Hagrites,
8 Gebal, Ammon and Amalek,
Philistia with the inhabitants of Tyre,
9 even Assyria has joined them,
becoming a strong arm for Lot’s sons. Selah
10 Do to them as You did to Midian,
to Sisera and Jabin at the Kishon River,
11 who perished at En-dor—
they became as dung for the ground.
12 Make their nobles like Oreb and Zeeb—
all their princes like Zebah and Zalmunna,
13 who said,
“Let us take possession of the pasturelands of God.”
14 My God, make them like tumbleweed,
like chaff before the wind.
15 As a fire burns a forest,
and as a flame sets mountains ablaze,
16 so pursue them with Your tempest,
and terrify them with Your storm.
17 Cover their faces with shame,
so they may seek Your Name—Adonai.
18 Let them be ashamed and dismayed forever.
Let them be humiliated and perish.
19 Let them know that You alone
—whose Name is Adonai—
are El Elyon over all the earth.
