Salt and Light

(Mark 9.50; Luke 14.34,35)

^13 (A) You are the salt for everyone on earth. But if salt no longer tastes like salt, how can it make food salty? All it is good for is to be thrown out and walked on.

^14 (A) You are the light for the whole world. A city built on top of a hill cannot be hidden,

³¹ So don't be afraid! You are worth much more than many sparrows.

⁵ I am the vine, and you are the branches. If you stay joined to me, and I stay joined to you, then you will produce lots of fruit. But you cannot do anything without me.

³⁶ If the Son gives you freedom, you are free!

Christ Gives Freedom

5 Christ has set us free! This means we are really free. Now hold on to your freedom and don't ever become slaves of the Law again.

¹⁵ Servants don't know what their master is doing, and so I don't speak to you as my servants. I speak to you as my friends, and I have told you everything my Father has told me.
