Psalm 76
For the choir director; on stringed instruments; a psalm by Asaph; a song.
1 Elohim is known in Judah.
His name is great in Israel.
2 His tent is in Salem.
His home is in Zion.
3 There he destroyed flaming arrows,
shields, swords, and weapons of war. Selah
4 You are the radiant one.
You are more majestic than the ancient mountains.[a]
5 Brave people were robbed.
They died.
None of the warriors were able to lift a hand.
6 At your stern warning, O Elohim of Jacob,
chariot riders and horses were put to sleep.
7 You alone must be feared!
Who can stand in your presence when you become angry?
8 From heaven you announced a verdict.
The earth was fearful and silent
9 when you rose to judge, O Elohim,
when you rose to save every oppressed person on earth. Selah
10 Even angry mortals will praise you.
You will wear the remainder of their anger.[b]
11 Make vows to Yahweh your Elohim, and keep them.
Let everyone around him bring gifts to the one who must be feared.
12 He cuts short the lives of influential people.
He terrifies the kings of the earth.

The Majesty of God in Judgment
To the Chief Musician. On [a]stringed instruments. A Psalm of Asaph. A Song.
76 In (A)Judah God is known;
His name is great in Israel.
2 In [b]Salem also is His tabernacle,
And His dwelling place in Zion.
3 There He broke the arrows of the bow,
The shield and sword of battle. Selah
4 You are more glorious and excellent
(B)Than the mountains of prey.
5 (C)The stouthearted were plundered;
(D)They [c]have sunk into their sleep;
And none of the mighty men have found the use of their hands.
6 (E)At Your rebuke, O God of Jacob,
Both the chariot and horse were cast into a dead sleep.
7 You, Yourself, are to be feared;
And (F)who may stand in Your presence
When once You are angry?
8 (G)You caused judgment to be heard from heaven;
(H)The earth feared and was still,
9 When God (I)arose to judgment,
To deliver all the oppressed of the earth. Selah
10 (J)Surely the wrath of man shall praise You;
With the remainder of wrath You shall gird Yourself.
11 (K)Make vows to the Lord your God, and pay them;
(L)Let all who are around Him bring presents to Him who ought to be feared.
12 He shall cut off the spirit of princes;
(M)He is awesome to the kings of the earth.

4 Tremendo sei tu, o Potente, quando ritorni dalle montagne della preda.
5 I valorosi sono stati spogliati,
han dormito il loro ultimo sonno,
tutti gli uomini prodi sono stati ridotti all'impotenza[c].
6 Alla tua minaccia, o Dio di
*Giacobbe,
carri e cavalli sono stati presi
da torpore.
7 Tu, tu sei tremendo;
e chi può resistere davanti a te quando esplode la tua ira?
8 Dal cielo facesti udire la tua
sentenza;
la terra ebbe paura e tacque,
9 quando Dio si alzò per giudicare,
per salvare tutti gl'infelici della terra. [Pausa]
10 Anche il furore degli uomini
ritornerà a tua lode;
ti cingerai degli ultimi avanzi dei loro
furori.
11 Fate voti al Signore, al Dio vostro,
e adempiteli;
tutti quelli che gli stanno attorno
portino doni al Tremendo.
12 Egli stronca lo spirito dei potenti, egli è tremendo per i re della terra.
