Schluss mit euren großen Worten!
75 Ein Lied von Asaf, nach der Melodie: »Richte nicht zugrunde«.
2 Wir danken dir, o Gott – ja, dir allein gilt unser Dank!
Denn du bist uns nahe! Von deinen Wundern erzählen wir.
3 Gott spricht: »Wenn meine Zeit gekommen ist,
werde ich Gericht halten und für Gerechtigkeit sorgen!
4 Mag auch die Erde beben, und mögen ihre Bewohner vor Angst zittern –
ich selbst habe die Fundamente der Erde unverrückbar festgelegt.
5 So befehle ich nun den großmäuligen Angebern:
Schluss mit euren großen Worten!
Denen, die mich ablehnen, sage ich: Blast euch nicht so auf!
6 Ja, hört auf zu prahlen und lasst ab von eurem Stolz![a]
Tragt eure Nase nicht so hoch!
7 Wahre Größe kann kein Mensch verleihen –
ganz gleich, woher er kommt![b]«
8 Denn Gott allein ist Richter:
Den einen lässt er fallen, den anderen bringt er zu Ansehen und Macht.
9 Der Herr hat einen Becher in seiner Hand,
gefüllt mit starkem, betäubendem Trank.
Alle, die Gott verachten,
müssen den Becher bis zum letzten bitteren Tropfen austrinken.
10 Ich aber will immer von Gott erzählen,
für ihn, den Gott Jakobs, will ich musizieren.
11 Er spricht: »Ich werde die Macht der Gottlosen brechen;
doch alle, die zu mir gehören, bringe ich zu Ansehen und Macht[c].«

75 We give thanks to you, O God;
we give thanks, for your name is (C)near.
We[a] recount your wondrous deeds.
2 “At (D)the set time that I appoint
I will judge (E)with equity.
3 When the earth (F)totters, and all its inhabitants,
it is I who keep steady its (G)pillars. Selah
4 I say to the boastful, ‘Do not boast,’
and to the wicked, (H)‘Do not lift up your horn;
5 do not lift up your horn on high,
or speak with haughty neck.’”
6 For not from the east or from the west
and not from the wilderness comes (I)lifting up,
7 but it is (J)God who executes judgment,
(K)putting down one and lifting up another.
8 (L)For in the hand of the Lord there is (M)a cup
with foaming wine, (N)well mixed,
and he pours out from it,
and all the wicked of the earth
shall (O)drain it down to the dregs.
9 But I will declare it forever;
I will sing praises to the God of Jacob.
10 (P)All the horns of the wicked I will cut off,
(Q)but the horns of the righteous shall be lifted up.

Varning för stolthet och skrytsamhet
1-2 Vi tackar dig, Herre! Vi tackar dig! Dina stora under är bevis på att du bryr dig om oss.
3 Ja, säger Herren, när den tid, som jag bestämt, är inne, ska jag straffa de onda!
4 Fastän jorden skakar och alla dess innevånare darrar av rädsla så är dess grund stadig, för jag själv har satt den på plats!
5 Jag varnade de stolta för att vara så storordiga,
6 och jag sa till de ogudaktiga att sluta med sitt skryt.
7-8 För framgång och makt kommer inte genom någon människa, utan enbart från Gud. Han befordrar den ene och avsätter den andre.
9 I sin hand håller Herren en bägare med starkt, bedövande vin. Det är hans vredesdom, som alla som föraktat honom måste dricka. De måste tömma bägaren till sista droppen.
10 Men jag ska prisa Jakobs Gud i evighet.
11 Jag ska göra slut på de ogudaktigas ondska, säger Herren, och i stället ska jag ge makt och anseende till de gudfruktiga.

1 We praise you, God,
we praise you, for your Name is near;(A)
people tell of your wonderful deeds.(B)
2 You say, “I choose the appointed time;(C)
it is I who judge with equity.(D)
3 When the earth and all its people quake,(E)
it is I who hold its pillars(F) firm.[b]
4 To the arrogant(G) I say, ‘Boast no more,’(H)
and to the wicked, ‘Do not lift up your horns.[c](I)
5 Do not lift your horns against heaven;
do not speak so defiantly.(J)’”
6 No one from the east or the west
or from the desert can exalt themselves.
7 It is God who judges:(K)
He brings one down, he exalts another.(L)
8 In the hand of the Lord is a cup
full of foaming wine mixed(M) with spices;
he pours it out, and all the wicked of the earth
drink it down to its very dregs.(N)
