70 Een lied van David voor de koordirigent. Bij het gedenkoffer.
2 O God, kom mij snel bevrijden!
Help mij toch, Here!
3 Laat de mensen die mij willen ombrengen,
beschaamd staan,
laten zij die mij in het ongeluk willen storten,
terugdeinzen en beschaamd staan.
4 Laten zij die mij uitlachen,
maar weglopen van schaamte.
5 Laat allen die U zoeken,
juichen en jubelen, zich in U verblijden.
Laten zij die U en uw redding liefhebben,
voortdurend U loven en grootmaken.
6 O God, ik zit in grote moeilijkheden
en ben een arm mens.
Kom toch snel naar mij toe.
Alleen U kunt mij helpen en verlossen.
Kom snel, Here,
en wacht niet langer!

70 (B)Make haste, O God, to deliver me!
O Lord, make haste to help me!
2 Let them be put to shame and confusion
who seek my life!
Let them be turned back and brought to dishonor
who delight in my hurt!
3 Let them turn back because of their shame
who say, “Aha, Aha!”
4 May all who seek you
rejoice and be glad in you!
May those who love your salvation
say evermore, “God is great!”
5 But I am poor and needy;
(C)hasten to me, O God!
You are my help and my deliverer;
O Lord, do not delay!

1 Hasten, O God, to save me;
come quickly, Lord, to help me.(B)
2 May those who want to take my life(C)
be put to shame and confusion;
may all who desire my ruin
be turned back in disgrace.(D)
3 May those who say to me, “Aha! Aha!”(E)
turn back because of their shame.
4 But may all who seek you(F)
rejoice and be glad(G) in you;
may those who long for your saving help always say,
“The Lord is great!”(H)

2 Let them be ashamed and confounded that seek after my soul: let them be turned backward, and put to confusion, that desire my hurt.
3 Let them be turned back for a reward of their shame that say, Aha, aha.
4 Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee: and let such as love thy salvation say continually, Let God be magnified.
5 But I am poor and needy: make haste unto me, O God: thou art my help and my deliverer; O Lord, make no tarrying.
