Psalm 69:9-21

⁹For ^(A)zeal for your house has consumed me,
    and ^(B)the reproaches of those who reproach you have fallen on me.
¹⁰When I wept and humbled^[a] my soul with fasting,
    it became my reproach.
¹¹When I made ^(C)sackcloth my clothing,
    I became ^(D)a byword to them.
¹²I am the talk of those who ^(E)sit in the gate,
    and the drunkards make ^(F)songs about me.

¹³But as for me, my ^(G)prayer is to you, O Lord.
    At ^(H)an acceptable time, O God,
    in the abundance of your steadfast love answer me in your saving faithfulness.
¹⁴Deliver me
    from sinking in ^(I)the mire;
^(J)let me be delivered from my enemies
    and from ^(K)the deep waters.
¹⁵Let not the flood sweep over me,
    or the deep swallow me up,
    or ^(L)the pit close ^(M)its mouth over me.

¹⁶Answer me, O Lord, for your ^(N)steadfast love is good;
    according to your abundant ^(O)mercy, ^(P)turn to me.
¹⁷^(Q)Hide not your face from your servant,
    ^(R)for I am in distress; ^(S)make haste to answer me.
¹⁸Draw near to my soul, redeem me;
    ransom me because of my enemies!

¹⁹You know my ^(T)reproach,
    and my shame and my dishonor;
    my foes are all known to you.
²⁰^(U)Reproaches have broken my heart,
    so that I am in ^(V)despair.
I ^(W)looked for ^(X)pity, but there was none,
    and for ^(Y)comforters, but I found none.
²¹They gave me ^(Z)poison for food,
    and for my thirst they gave me ^(AA)sour wine to drink.
