Psalm 68:28-35

New International Version

²⁸Summon your power,^(A) God^[a];
    show us your strength,^(B) our God, as you have done^(C) before.
²⁹Because of your temple at Jerusalem
    kings will bring you gifts.^(D)
³⁰Rebuke the beast^(E) among the reeds,^(F)
    the herd of bulls^(G) among the calves of the nations.
Humbled, may the beast bring bars of silver.
    Scatter the nations^(H) who delight in war.^(I)
³¹Envoys will come from Egypt;^(J)
    Cush^[b]^(K) will submit herself to God.

³²Sing to God, you kingdoms of the earth,^(L)
    sing praise^(M) to the Lord,
³³to him who rides^(N) across the highest heavens, the ancient heavens,
    who thunders^(O) with mighty voice.^(P)
³⁴Proclaim the power^(Q) of God,
    whose majesty^(R) is over Israel,
    whose power is in the heavens.
³⁵You, God, are awesome^(S) in your sanctuary;^(T)
    the God of Israel gives power and strength^(U) to his people.^(V)

²⁸Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock^(A) of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers.^(B) Be shepherds of the church of God,^[a]^(C) which he bought^(D) with his own blood.^[b]^(E) ²⁹I know that after I leave, savage wolves^(F) will come in among you and will not spare the flock.^(G) ³⁰Even from your own number men will arise and distort the truth in order to draw away disciples^(H) after them. ³¹So be on your guard! Remember that for three years^(I) I never stopped warning each of you night and day with tears.^(J)

³²“Now I commit you to God^(K) and to the word of his grace, which can build you up and give you an inheritance^(L) among all those who are sanctified.^(M) ³³I have not coveted anyone’s silver or gold or clothing.^(N) ³⁴You yourselves know that these hands of mine have supplied my own needs and the needs of my companions.^(O) ³⁵In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ ”

³⁶When Paul had finished speaking, he knelt down with all of them and prayed.^(P) ³⁷They all wept as they embraced him and kissed him.^(Q) ³⁸What grieved them most was his statement that they would never see his face again.^(R) Then they accompanied him to the ship.^(S)

John 17:11-19

¹¹I will remain in the world no longer, but they are still in the world,^(A) and I am coming to you.^(B) Holy Father, protect them by the power of^[a] your name, the name you gave me, so that they may be one^(C) as we are one.^(D) ¹²While I was with them, I protected them and kept them safe by^[b] that name you gave me. None has been lost^(E) except the one doomed to destruction^(F) so that Scripture would be fulfilled.^(G)

¹³“I am coming to you now,^(H) but I say these things while I am still in the world, so that they may have the full measure of my joy^(I) within them. ¹⁴I have given them your word and the world has hated them,^(J) for they are not of the world any more than I am of the world.^(K) ¹⁵My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one.^(L) ¹⁶They are not of the world, even as I am not of it.^(M) ¹⁷Sanctify them by^[c] the truth; your word is truth.^(N) ¹⁸As you sent me into the world,^(O) I have sent them into the world.^(P) ¹⁹For them I sanctify myself, that they too may be truly sanctified.^(Q)
