Psalm 67-68
New American Standard Bible 1995
The Nations Exhorted to Praise God.
For the choir director; with stringed instruments. A Psalm. A Song.
67 God be gracious to us and (A)bless us,
And (B)cause His face to shine [a]upon us— [b]Selah.
2 That (C)Your way may be known on the earth,
(D)Your salvation among all nations.
3 Let the (E)peoples praise You, O God;
Let all the peoples praise You.
4 Let the (F)nations be glad and sing for joy;
For You will (G)judge the peoples with uprightness
And (H)guide the nations on the earth. Selah.
5 Let the (I)peoples praise You, O God;
Let all the peoples praise You.
6 The (J)earth has yielded its produce;
God, our God, (K)blesses us.
7 God blesses us,
[c]That (L)all the ends of the earth may fear Him.
The God of Sinai and of the Sanctuary.
For the choir director. A Psalm of David. A Song.
68 [d]Let (M)God arise, [e]let His enemies be scattered,
And [f]let those who hate Him flee before Him.
2 As (N)smoke is driven away, so drive them away;
As (O)wax melts before the fire,
So let the (P)wicked perish before God.
3 But let the (Q)righteous be glad; let them exult before God;
Yes, let them rejoice with gladness.
4 Sing to God, (R)sing praises to His name;
[g](S)Lift up a song for Him who (T)rides through the deserts,
Whose (U)name is [h]the Lord, and exult before Him.
5 A (V)father of the fatherless and a (W)judge [i]for the widows,
Is God in His (X)holy habitation.
6 God [j](Y)makes a home for the lonely;
He (Z)leads out the prisoners into prosperity,
Only (AA)the rebellious dwell in a parched land.
7 O God, when You (AB)went forth before Your people,
When You (AC)marched through the wilderness, [k]Selah.
8 The (AD)earth quaked;
The (AE)heavens also dropped rain at the presence of God;
[l](AF)Sinai itself quaked at the presence of God, the God of Israel.
9 You (AG)shed abroad a plentiful rain, O God;
You confirmed Your inheritance when it was [m]parched.
10 Your creatures settled in it;
You (AH)provided in Your goodness for the poor, O God.
11 The Lord gives the [n]command;
The (AI)women who proclaim the good tidings are a great host:
12 “(AJ)Kings of armies flee, they flee,
And she who remains at home will (AK)divide the spoil!”
13 [o]When you lie down (AL)among the [p]sheepfolds,
You are like the wings of a dove covered with silver,
And its pinions with glistening gold.
14 When the Almighty (AM)scattered the kings [q]there,
It was snowing in (AN)Zalmon.
15 A [r](AO)mountain of God is the mountain of Bashan;
A mountain of many peaks is the mountain of Bashan.
16 Why do you look with envy, O mountains with many peaks,
At the mountain which God has (AP)desired for His abode?
Surely (AQ)the Lord will dwell there forever.
17 The (AR)chariots of God are [s]myriads, (AS)thousands upon thousands;
[t]The Lord is among them as at Sinai, in holiness.
18 You have (AT)ascended on high, You have (AU)led captive Your captives;
You have received gifts among men,
Even among the rebellious also, that [u]the Lord God may dwell there.
19 Blessed be the Lord, who daily (AV)bears our burden,
(AW)The God who is our salvation. Selah.
20 God is to us a (AX)God of deliverances;
And (AY)to [v]God the Lord belong escapes [w]from death.
21 Surely God will (AZ)shatter the head of His enemies,
The hairy crown of him who goes on in his guilty deeds.
22 The Lord [x]said, “(BA)I will bring them back from Bashan.
I will bring them back from the depths of the sea;
23 That [y](BB)your foot may shatter them in blood,
The tongue of your (BC)dogs may have its portion from your enemies.”
24 They have seen (BD)Your [z]procession, O God,
The [aa]procession of my God, my King, [ab](BE)into the sanctuary.
25 The (BF)singers went on, the musicians after them,
[ac]In the midst of the (BG)maidens beating tambourines.
26 (BH)Bless God in the congregations,
Even the Lord, you who are of the (BI)fountain of Israel.
27 There is (BJ)Benjamin, the [ad]youngest, [ae]ruling them,
The princes of Judah in their throng,
The princes of (BK)Zebulun, the princes of Naphtali.
28 [af]Your God has (BL)commanded your strength;
Show Yourself strong, O God, (BM)who have acted [ag]on our behalf.
29 [ah]Because of Your temple at Jerusalem
(BN)Kings will bring gifts to You.
30 Rebuke the (BO)beasts [ai]in the reeds,
The herd of (BP)bulls with the calves of the peoples,
Trampling under foot the pieces of silver;
He has (BQ)scattered the peoples who delight in war.
31 Envoys will come out of (BR)Egypt;
[aj](BS)Ethiopia will quickly stretch out her hands to God.
32 Sing to God, O (BT)kingdoms of the earth,
(BU)Sing praises to the Lord, Selah.
33 To Him who (BV)rides upon the [ak](BW)highest heavens, which are from ancient times;
Behold, (BX)He [al]speaks forth with His voice, a (BY)mighty voice.
34 (BZ)Ascribe strength to God;
His majesty is over Israel
And (CA)His strength is in the [am]skies.
35 [an]O God, You are (CB)awesome from Your [ao]sanctuary.
The God of Israel Himself (CC)gives strength and power to the people.
(CD)Blessed be God!
