Come and See the Works of God
For the choir director. A Song. A Psalm.
66 (A)Make a loud shout to God, all the earth;
2 Sing praise for the (B)glory of His name;
Establish His (C)praise as glorious.
3 Say to God, “How [a](D)fearsome are Your works!
Because of the abundance of Your strength Your enemies will [b](E)cower before You.
4 (F)All the earth will worship You,
And will (G)sing praises to You;
They will sing praises to Your name.” [c]Selah.
5 (H)Come and see the works of God,
Who is (I)fearsome in His deeds toward the sons of men.
6 He (J)turned the sea into dry land;
They passed through (K)the river on foot;
There let us (L)be glad in Him!
7 He (M)rules by His might forever;
His (N)eyes keep watch on the nations;
Let not the rebellious (O)exalt themselves. Selah.
8 Bless our God, O peoples,
And [d](P)make the sound of His praise heard,
9 Who [e](Q)establishes us among the living
And (R)does not allow our feet to stumble.
10 For You have (S)tested us, O God;
You have (T)refined us as silver is refined.
11 You (U)brought us into the net;
You established an oppressive burden upon our loins.
12 You made men (V)ride over our heads;
We went through (W)fire and through water,
Yet You (X)brought us out into a place of abundance.
13 I shall (Y)come into Your house with burnt offerings;
I shall (Z)pay You my vows,
14 Which my lips uttered
And my mouth spoke when I was (AA)in distress.
15 I shall (AB)offer to You burnt offerings of fat beasts,
With the smoke of (AC)rams;
I shall make an offering of [f]bulls with male goats. Selah.
16 (AD)Come and hear, all who [g]fear God,
And I will (AE)recount what He has done for my soul.
17 I called out to Him with my mouth,
And [h]He was (AF)exalted with my tongue.
18 If I [i](AG)see wickedness in my heart,
The (AH)Lord [j]will not [k]hear;
19 But certainly (AI)God has heard;
He has given heed to the voice of my prayer.
20 (AJ)Blessed be God,
Who (AK)has not turned away my prayer
Nor His lovingkindness from me.

66 Een psalm, een lied voor de koordirigent.
Laat de hele aarde God lof toezingen.
2 Zing psalmen over de grote heerlijkheid van zijn naam.
Breng Hem de eer en de lof toe.
3 Zeg maar tegen God: alles wat U doet,
is beroemd door uw macht en grootheid.
Daarom doen zelfs uw vijanden of zij U eren.
4 Laat de hele aarde U aanbidden.
Laat zij psalmen zingen
ter ere van U en uw heilige naam.
5 Kom maar en kijk naar wat God allemaal doet,
groot is zijn reputatie om wat Hij voor de mensen doet.
6 Hij maakte land droog door de zee te laten opdrogen,
het volk ging te voet dwars door de rivier.
7 Daar aanbaden wij Hem
die in eeuwigheid regeert door zijn grote kracht.
Laat niemand tegen Hem in opstand komen.
8 Volken, prijs onze God,
zing luid uw lofliederen tot zijn eer.
9 Hij gaf ons het leven weer
en verhinderde dat wij vielen.
10 U hebt ons beproefd, o God,
ons gezuiverd zoals men zilver zuivert.
11 U hebt ons in een net laten vangen
en ons een zware last te dragen gegeven.
12 Er reden mensen over onze hoofden
en wij gingen door water en vuur,
maar U hebt ons naar een land met overvloed gebracht.
13 Ik zal mijn brandoffers in de tempel brengen,
ik kom mijn geloften na
14 die ik U gedaan heb.
Ik deed U die geloften
toen ik in grote moeilijkheden verkeerde.
15 Ik breng U brandoffers van jonge, vetgemeste kalveren,
de geur van rammen stijgt naar U omhoog.
Ik offer U runderen en geiten tegelijk.
16 Kom en luister!
Ik wil ieder die ontzag voor God heeft,
vertellen wat Hij allemaal voor mij heeft gedaan.
17 Nog maar net had ik Hem aangeroepen,
of Hij gaf mij al een loflied in de mond.
18 Als mijn motieven onzuiver waren geweest,
zou de Here echt niet hebben geluisterd.
19 Maar God heeft wel degelijk geluisterd:
Hij heeft mijn luide smeekbeden verhoord.
20 Ik prijs God omdat Hij mijn gebed aannam.
Hij wees mij niet af
en heeft mij ook zijn liefdevolle goedheid niet onthouden.

For the director of music. A song. A psalm.
1 Shout for joy to God, all the earth!(A)
2 Sing the glory of his name;(B)
make his praise glorious.(C)
3 Say to God, “How awesome are your deeds!(D)
So great is your power
that your enemies cringe(E) before you.
4 All the earth bows down(F) to you;
they sing praise(G) to you,
they sing the praises of your name.”[a]
5 Come and see what God has done,
his awesome deeds(H) for mankind!
6 He turned the sea into dry land,(I)
they passed through(J) the waters on foot—
come, let us rejoice(K) in him.
7 He rules forever(L) by his power,
his eyes watch(M) the nations—
let not the rebellious(N) rise up against him.
8 Praise(O) our God, all peoples,
let the sound of his praise be heard;
9 he has preserved our lives(P)
and kept our feet from slipping.(Q)
10 For you, God, tested(R) us;
you refined us like silver.(S)
11 You brought us into prison(T)
and laid burdens(U) on our backs.
12 You let people ride over our heads;(V)
we went through fire and water,
but you brought us to a place of abundance.(W)
13 I will come to your temple with burnt offerings(X)
and fulfill my vows(Y) to you—
14 vows my lips promised and my mouth spoke
when I was in trouble.
15 I will sacrifice fat animals to you
and an offering of rams;
I will offer bulls and goats.(Z)
16 Come and hear,(AA) all you who fear God;
let me tell(AB) you what he has done for me.
17 I cried out to him with my mouth;
his praise was on my tongue.
18 If I had cherished sin in my heart,
the Lord would not have listened;(AC)
19 but God has surely listened
and has heard(AD) my prayer.
20 Praise be to God,
who has not rejected(AE) my prayer
or withheld his love from me!
