¹⁸If I had cherished sin in my heart,
the Lord would not have listened;^(A)

¹⁸If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me:

¹⁸If I had not confessed the sin in my heart,
the Lord would not have listened.

³When you ask, you do not receive,^(A) because you ask with wrong motives,^(B) that you may spend what you get on your pleasures.

³Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.

³And even when you ask, you don’t get it because your motives are all wrong—you want only what will give you pleasure.
