Psalm 64
Prayer for Protection from Enemies
To the leader. A Psalm of David.
1 Hear my voice, O God, in my complaint;
preserve my life from the dread enemy.
2 Hide me from the secret plots of the wicked,
from the scheming of evildoers,
3 who whet their tongues like swords,
who aim bitter words like arrows,
4 shooting from ambush at the blameless;
they shoot suddenly and without fear.
5 They hold fast to their evil purpose;
they talk of laying snares secretly,
thinking, ‘Who can see us?[a]
6 Who can search out our crimes?[b]
We have thought out a cunningly conceived plot.’
For the human heart and mind are deep.
7 But God will shoot his arrow at them;
they will be wounded suddenly.
8 Because of their tongue he will bring them to ruin;[c]
all who see them will shake with horror.
9 Then everyone will fear;
they will tell what God has brought about,
and ponder what he has done.
10 Let the righteous rejoice in the Lord
and take refuge in him.
Let all the upright in heart glory.

To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David.
64 Hear my voice, O God, in my [a]complaint;
Guard my life from the terror of the enemy.

Hide me from the secret counsel and conspiracy of the ungodly,
From the scheming of those who do wrong,
3
Who have sharpened their tongues like a sword.
They aim venomous words as arrows,
4
To shoot from ambush at the blameless [one];
Suddenly they shoot at him, without fear.
5
They encourage themselves in [their pursuit of] an evil agenda;
They talk of laying snares secretly;
They say, “Who will discover us?”
6
They devise acts of injustice, saying,
“We are ready with a well-conceived plan.”
For the inward thought and the heart of a man are deep (mysterious, unsearchable).
7
But God will shoot them with an [unexpected] arrow;
Suddenly they will be wounded.
8
So they will be caused to stumble;
Their own tongue is against them;
All who gaze at them will shake the head [in scorn].
9
Then all men will fear [God’s judgment];
They will declare the work of God,
And they will consider and wisely acknowledge what He has done.
10
The righteous will rejoice in the Lord and take refuge in Him;
All the upright in heart will glory and offer praise.

3 Ты слышишь молитву;
к Тебе придут все люди.
4 Когда одолевают нас грехи наши,
Ты прощаешь нам беззакония.
5 Благословен тот, кого Ты избрал и приблизил,
чтобы он жил при Твоём святилище[b].
Мы насытимся благами дома Твоего,
святого храма Твоего.
6 Ты отвечаешь нам устрашающими делами,
даруя избавление, о Всевышний, Спаситель наш.
Ты – надежда всех концов земли
и самых дальних морей.
7 Силой Своей утвердил Ты горы;
Ты наделён могуществом.
8 Ты усмиряешь шум морей,
рокот их волн
и смуты народов.
9 Живущие на краю земли
устрашатся Твоих знамений.
С востока до запада
будут петь песни радости.
10 Ты заботишься о земле и орошаешь её,
обильно даруя ей плодородие.
Потоки Всевышнего полны воды,
чтобы дать народу зерно,
потому что Ты так устроил землю.
11 Ты наполняешь водой её борозды
и уравниваешь её гребни,
смягчая её дождями,
благословляя её ростки.
12 Ты венчаешь год Своей щедростью;
куда бы Ты ни шёл – везде изобилие.
13 Трава преображает пустыню,
и весельем одеты холмы.
14 Луга покрыты стадами,
и зерном одеты долины.
Всё восклицает и поёт от радости!
