Psalm 62

Song of Trust in God Alone

To the leader: according to Jeduthun. A Psalm of David.

¹⁵ and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God has come near;^[a] repent, and believe in the good news.”^[b](A)

The Cost of Discipleship

²⁵ Now large crowds were traveling with him, and he turned and said to them, ²⁶ “Whoever comes to me and does not hate father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, yes, and even life itself, cannot be my disciple.^{(A) 27} Whoever does not carry the cross and follow me cannot be my disciple.^(B)

The New Life in Christ

12 I appeal to you therefore, brothers and sisters, on the basis of God’s mercy, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your reasonable act of worship.^{(A) 2} Do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of the mind, so that you may discern what is the will of God—what is good and acceptable and perfect.^[a](B)

³ For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of yourself more highly than you ought to think but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned.^(C)

¹³ But now I am coming to you, and I speak these things in the world so that they may have my joy made complete in themselves.^{[a] 14} I have given them your word, and the world has hated them because they do not belong to the world, just as I do not belong to the world.^{(A) 15} I am not asking you to take them out of the world, but I ask you to protect them from the evil one.^{[b](B) 16} They do not belong to the world, just as I do not belong to the world. ¹⁷ Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth. ¹⁸ As you have sent me into the world, so I have sent them into the world.^(C)
