60 O God, thou hast cast us off, thou hast scattered us, thou hast been displeased; O turn thyself to us again.

Thou hast made the earth to tremble; thou hast broken it: heal the breaches thereof; for it shaketh.

Thou hast shewed thy people hard things: thou hast made us to drink the wine of astonishment.

Thou hast given a banner to them that fear thee, that it may be displayed because of the truth. Selah.

That thy beloved may be delivered; save with thy right hand, and hear me.

God hath spoken in his holiness; I will rejoice, I will divide Shechem, and mete out the valley of Succoth.

Gilead is mine, and Manasseh is mine; Ephraim also is the strength of mine head; Judah is my lawgiver;

Moab is my washpot; over Edom will I cast out my shoe: Philistia, triumph thou because of me.

Who will bring me into the strong city? who will lead me into Edom?

10 Wilt not thou, O God, which hadst cast us off? and thou, O God, which didst not go out with our armies?

11 Give us help from trouble: for vain is the help of man.

12 Through God we shall do valiantly: for he it is that shall tread down our enemies.

(Sl 108.6-13)

Salmo de David. Segundo a melodia “Os lírios”. Poema de instrução. Quando David lutou contra os arameus da Mesopotâmia e os arameus de Zobá, e Joabe, ao regressar, matou no vale do Sal doze mil edomitas.

60 Deus, tu rejeitaste-nos e dispersaste-nos;
tens estado zangado connosco,
mas volta-te de novo para nós.
Fizeste tremer esta terra, dividiste-a em pedaços;
cura-a, pois está abalada até nos fundamentos.
Fizeste-nos passar por coisas muito duras;

“É justo que me encha de alegria;
hei de repartir Siquem e medir o vale de Sucote.
Gileade e Manassés ainda são meus;
Efraim é o apoio da minha força
e Judá me dará governantes.
Moabe é para mim uma bacia de lavar
e Edom como o sítio onde me descalço.
Sobre a Filisteia bradarei vitória.”

Quem me conduzirá à cidade fortificada?
Quem me guiará até Edom?
10 Deus o fará, ainda que nos tenha rejeitado
e nos tenha abandonado aos exércitos do inimigo.
11 Auxilia-nos em tempos de aperto,
pois de nada vale o socorro humano!
12 Com Deus faremos coisas formidáveis;
ele esmagará os nossos inimigos.

He Will Tread Down Our Foes

To the choirmaster: according to (A)Shushan Eduth. A (B)Miktam[a] of David; (C)for instruction; when he (D)strove with Aram-naharaim and with Aram-zobah, and when Joab on his return struck down twelve thousand of Edom in the Valley of Salt.

60 O God, (E)you have rejected us, (F)broken our defenses;
    you have been angry; (G)oh, restore us.
You have made the land to quake; you have torn it open;
    (H)repair its breaches, for it totters.
(I)You have made your people see hard things;
    (J)you have given us (K)wine to drink that made us stagger.

You have set up (L)a banner for those who fear you,
    that they may flee to it (M)from the bow.[b] Selah
(N)That your (O)beloved ones may be delivered,
    give salvation by your right hand and answer us!

God has spoken (P)in his holiness:[c]
    “With exultation (Q)I will divide up (R)Shechem
    and portion out the Vale of (S)Succoth.
(T)Gilead is mine; Manasseh is mine;
    (U)Ephraim is (V)my helmet;
    Judah is my (W)scepter.
(X)Moab is my washbasin;
    upon Edom I (Y)cast my shoe;
    over (Z)Philistia I shout in triumph.”[d]

Who will bring me to the fortified city?
    (AA)Who will lead me to Edom?
10 Have you not (AB)rejected us, O God?
    You (AC)do not go forth, O God, with our armies.
11 Oh, grant us help against the foe,
    for (AD)vain is the salvation of man!
12 With God we shall (AE)do valiantly;
    it is he who will (AF)tread down our foes.
