Psalm 6
Revised Standard Version
Prayer for Recovery from Grave Illness
To the choirmaster: with stringed instruments; according to The Sheminith. A Psalm of David.
6 O Lord, rebuke me not in thy anger,
nor chasten me in thy wrath.
2 Be gracious to me, O Lord, for I am languishing;
O Lord, heal me, for my bones are troubled.
3 My soul also is sorely troubled.
But thou, O Lord—how long?
4 Turn, O Lord, save my life;
deliver me for the sake of thy steadfast love.
5 For in death there is no remembrance of thee;
in Sheol who can give thee praise?
6 I am weary with my moaning;
every night I flood my bed with tears;
I drench my couch with my weeping.
7 My eye wastes away because of grief,
it grows weak because of all my foes.
8 Depart from me, all you workers of evil;
for the Lord has heard the sound of my weeping.
9 The Lord has heard my supplication;
the Lord accepts my prayer.
10 All my enemies shall be ashamed and sorely troubled;
they shall turn back, and be put to shame in a moment.

PSALM 6
Hilferuf an Gottes Barmherzigkeit
6 Dem Vorsänger. Mit Saitenspiel; auf der achtsaitigen Harfe. Ein Psalm Davids.
2 Herr, strafe mich nicht in deinem Zorn,
züchtige mich nicht in deinem Grimm!
3 Sei mir gnädig, o Herr, denn ich verschmachte;
heile mich, o Herr, denn meine Gebeine sind erschrocken,
4 und meine Seele ist sehr erschrocken;
und du, Herr, wie lange - ?
5 Kehre wieder, Herr, rette meine Seele;
hilf mir um deiner Gnade willen!
6 Denn im Tode gedenkt man deiner nicht;
wer wird dir im Totenreiche lobsingen?
7 Ich bin müde vom Seufzen;
ich schwemme mein Bett die ganze Nacht,
benetze mein Lager mit meinen Tränen.
8 Mein Auge ist vertrocknet vor Kummer,
gealtert ob all meinen Feinden.
9 Weichet von mir, ihr Übeltäter alle;
denn der Herr hat die Stimme meines Weinens gehört!
10 Der Herr hat mein Flehen gehört,
der Herr nimmt mein Gebet an!
11 Alle meine Feinde müssen zuschanden werden und sehr erschrecken;
sie sollen plötzlich mit Schanden umkehren.
