6 Lord, don’t ·correct [rebuke; reprove] me when you are angry;
    don’t ·punish [discipline] me when you are ·very angry [enraged].
²Lord, ·have mercy on [be gracious to] me because I ·am weak [languish; faint].
    Heal me, Lord, because my bones ·ache [are in agony].
³I ·am very upset [ache; am in agony].
    Lord, how long will it be?

⁴Lord, return and save me;
·save [rescue; ^Tdeliver] me because of your ·kindness [loyalty; covenant love].
⁵Dead people don’t remember you;
those in ·the grave [or the underworld; ^LSheol] don’t praise you.

⁶I am ·tired [weary] ·of crying to you [^Lbecause of my moaning].
    Every night ·my bed is wet [^LI flood my pillow] with tears;
    my bed is soaked from my crying.
⁷My eyes are weak ·from so much crying [^Lbecause of my grief];
    they are weak ·from crying about [^Lbecause of] my enemies.

⁸Get away from me, all you who do evil,
    because the Lord has heard my ·crying [supplication].
⁹The Lord has heard my cry for help;
    the Lord will ·answer [accept] my prayer.
¹⁰All my enemies will be ashamed and ·troubled [in agony; vv. 2–3].
    They will turn and suddenly leave in shame.

²⁽³⁾Have mercy upon me, Hashem; for I am weak: Hashem, heal me; for my atzmot are shaking.

³⁽⁴⁾My nefesh is also much shaken; but Thou, Hashem, ad mosai (how much longer)?

⁴⁽⁵⁾Turn, Hashem, deliver my nefesh; hoshieini (save me) for the sake of Thy chesed.

⁵⁽⁶⁾For in mavet there is no remembrance of Thee; in Sheol who shall give Thee thanks?

⁶⁽⁷⁾I am weary with my groaning; all the lailah flood I my mittah with weeping; I water my couch with my tears.

⁷⁽⁸⁾Mine eye is consumed because of ka’as (grief); it groweth old because of all mine enemies.

⁸⁽⁹⁾Depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity; for Hashem hath heard the voice of my weeping.

⁹⁽¹⁰⁾Hashem hath heard my techinnah (supplication); Hashem will receive my tefillah (prayer).

¹⁰⁽¹¹⁾Let all mine oyevim be ashamed and much troubled; let them turn back and suddenly be ashamed.

¹Lord, do not rebuke me in your anger^(A)
    or discipline me in your wrath.
²Have mercy on me,^(B) Lord, for I am faint;^(C)
    heal me,^(D) Lord, for my bones are in agony.^(E)
³My soul is in deep anguish.^(F)
    How long,^(G) Lord, how long?

⁴Turn,^(H) Lord, and deliver me;
save me because of your unfailing love.^(I)
⁵Among the dead no one proclaims your name.
Who praises you from the grave?^(J)

⁶I am worn out^(K) from my groaning.^(L)

All night long I flood my bed with weeping^(M)
and drench my couch with tears.^(N)
⁷My eyes grow weak^(O) with sorrow;
they fail because of all my foes.

⁸Away from me,^(P) all you who do evil,^(Q)
    for the Lord has heard my weeping.
⁹The Lord has heard my cry for mercy;^(R)
    the Lord accepts my prayer.
¹⁰All my enemies will be overwhelmed with shame and anguish;^(S)
    they will turn back and suddenly be put to shame.^(T)
