Psalmen 6

Psalm 6
1 Dem Vorsänger. Mit Saitenspiel; auf der Scheminith.[a] Ein Psalm Davids.
2 Herr, strafe mich nicht in deinem Zorn,
züchtige mich nicht in deinem Grimm!
3 Sei mir gnädig, o Herr,
denn ich verschmachte!
Heile mich, o Herr,
denn meine Gebeine sind erschrocken,
4 und meine Seele ist sehr erschrocken;
und du, Herr, wie lange —?
5 Kehre doch wieder zurück[b], Herr,
rette meine Seele!
Hilf mir um deiner Gnade willen!
6 Denn im Tod gedenkt man nicht an dich;
wer wird dir im Totenreich lobsingen?
7 Ich bin müde vom Seufzen;
ich schwemme mein Bett die ganze Nacht,
benetze mein Lager mit meinen Tränen.
8 Mein Auge ist verfallen vor Kummer,
gealtert wegen all meiner Feinde.
9 Weicht von mir, ihr Übeltäter alle;
denn der Herr hat die Stimme meines Weinens gehört!
10 Der Herr hat mein Flehen gehört,
der Herr nimmt mein Gebet an!
11 Alle meine Feinde müssen zuschanden werden und sehr erschrecken;
sie sollen sich plötzlich zurückziehen mit Schanden!

But you, O Lord—(G)how long?

6 I am (I)weary with my (J)moaning;
every night I flood my bed with tears;
I drench my couch with my weeping.
7 My (K)eye wastes away because of grief;
it grows weak because of all my foes.
8 (L)Depart from me, all you (M)workers of evil,
for the Lord (N)has heard the sound of my weeping.

the Lord accepts my prayer.

they shall (P)turn back and be put to shame in a moment.
