Psalm 56:3-9

New International Version

³ When I am afraid,^(A) I put my trust in you.^(B)
4     In God, whose word I praise—^(C)
in God I trust and am not afraid.^(D)
    What can mere mortals do to me?^(E)

⁵ All day long they twist my words;^(F)
    all their schemes are for my ruin.
⁶ They conspire,^(G) they lurk,
    they watch my steps,^(H)
    hoping to take my life.^(I)
7 Because of their wickedness do not^[a] let them escape;^(J)
    in your anger, God, bring the nations down.^(K)

⁸ Record my misery;
    list my tears on your scroll^[b](L)—
    are they not in your record?^(M)
9 Then my enemies will turn back^(N)
    when I call for help.^(O)
    By this I will know that God is for me.^(P)
